and travelers who traveled through the airport and worried about potential exposure when they interacted with tsa employees. several passengers we spoke to last night were unaware about the issue. >> i did not know that. >> what do you make of that news? >> that's a little scary. i'm glad to get out of california and back to denver. >> i'm just finding out now. >> what do you make of that news? >> it is pretty scary. >> in a statement released by sjc last night they are open for business as normal but no enhanced screening practices at the airport at those tsa stations where you have to pass through security. we also don't know if you can expect longer wait times at the airport given the sheer number of tsa employees who now have to be home and quarantined. now, the three of employees tested positive for coronavirus. so many more unanswered questions this morning.

we'll keep digging for answers and come back with them as we have them. julian glover, abc 7 news. getting people off the "grand princess" cruise ship is taking longer than expected. >> this morning some passengers are still onboard and others had to wait on charter buses before they got to go. amy hollyfield joins us in oakland with that part of the story. good morning, amy. >> good morning, jobina. hard to imagine there are more than 1,000 passengers still stuck on this ship. and many of them say they are tired of being onboard. they are ready for land. the ship got here on monday. here we are on wednesday. but unloading it has been a slow, tedious process. health care workers are screening everyone and then determining where they need to go. a military base for quarantine, a flight back to their country, a hospital, so, organizing everyone is taking a lot of time. we talked to some people who are

still onboard. they are sick of being there and they are really sick of the food. >> i think the major challenge has been food. >> it's terrible. >> the food is definitely going down. we don't need gourmet food. we do not need fine dining or anything like that, but just give us something that is edible. >> and they are hoping to get off the ship today. there are still 1,116 passengers onboard. the crew is also still on the ship. there are 1,100 workers. 19 of those have tested positive for coronavirus. they will be treated and quarantined on the ship. and there's a new location for those with fever. those coming off who are determined to have fever about two dozen of them so far, they've been taken to a state beach in pacific grove near monterrey. they'll be quarantined there. a lot of logistics to deal with. the mayor and the governor both

promising that people coming off the ship are not mingling with the general public. reporting live in oakland, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. passengers who leave the "grand princess" have a few destinations they will end up. if they're sick, an ambulance will take them to the hospital. international and out of state guests will head to the airport for travel flights back home. some passengers get on a bus to travis air force base and others will head to lackland air force base in texas or dobbins air force base in georgia. more than 100 people in the bay area with coronavirus. napa county hasn't had any of its residents test positive, but it is treating patients. santa clara 45 cases are the most in the state. los angeles county is next with 20. a senior citizen from elk grove is the latest death connected to coronavirus. the first death reported in

sacramento county. the woman in her 90s lived in an assisted living facility. how many people were exposed to this and monitoring and isolating those individuals. this is the third-related coronavirus death in california. the state's two other fatal c e cas cases. health officials are recommending community events with more than 50 people be postponed or canceled. >> given the level of coronavirus in our community, contra costa is shifting containment to mitigation. our efforts to isolate people who are sick and quarantine people who may have been exposed may no longer be enough. >> there are currently nine coronavirus cases in contra costa county. officials say the county health lab has received 1,000 test kits. online to providing testing for

hospitals and clinics in the county. san francisco already has a two-week ban on events at city-owned buildings, but could soon expand to other public events. a ban on attending warriors games or other large events is probably coming soon. he admits san francisco is a little behind santa clara county which already announced a ban on events with more than 1,000 people. businesses are feeling the effects of the coronavirus. >> earlier this week the mayor announced a two-week of more than 50 people at any city-owned buildings. people in the say it is hurting in ways they haven't seen since 9/11. >> the ones being impacted the most are my employees. you know, they're going to lose shifts and lose income. and everybody's kind of nervous and anxious right now to know how that is going to pan out. >> the mayor says the city is

working on way to relieve the strain including taxes and financial support. the number of canceled events just keep going. cherry blossom festival in san francisco's japan town will not go on as planned and calling off the 150th anniversary celebration of golden gate park set for the first weekend in april. organizers decided to cancel the oakland running festival set for march 22nd and plan to meet today to consider next steps. in seattle the university of washington medical center converted its garage to a drive through to test employees who might have been exposed to the coronavirus. today, washington state's governor will announce a ban on community gatherings of 250 people or more in the seattle area to try and stop the spread. the announcement is expected to target sporting events and entertainment gatherings and schools and workplaces are not expectsed to be included. you may have more time to file your taxes this year. according to "wall street

forecast and start with what's going on as far as some temperatures. we've got 51 in castro valley. everybody else in the mid to upper 50s under a mainly cloudy sky on the east bay and everywhere else. pretty much low to mid-50s and san jose we're seeing some drops right now. 57 a little bit warmer and little bit cooler mid to upper 40s. let's take a look at what is going on with those temperatures. you can see, milder than yesterday across the board, except for in half moon bay. san mateo bridge 56 degrees as we look to the west. sprinkles in the south, that is your only real issue commuting. today, everything else is going to be fine. temperatures over the next 12 hours and you can see we're stuck in the 50s but unlike yesterday where we had increasing clouds, today increasing sunshine and push us up into the upper 60s. east bay valleys waking up about the same thing and sunshine will take us up to near 70s for a couple hours this afternoon and our last stop downnhe t c a a little more stubborn and a

same thing with 87. and there is the possibility of some drops will make it down to the ground. we'll put light showers and keep them in the forecast for the south bay, brighter in the north today. spring warmth tomorrow and friday before the wet weather rolls in and now we've added monday. not only saturday, sunday, but also monday. here's a potential for an atmospheric river event according to one of the medium range models. i'll show you that coming up in seven minutes. first, let's focus on today where we're cooler in the areas and around 66 to 69 around the bay. you can see 70 at san jose and near 70 in antioch and concord and also upper 60s in the north bay. tonight a little fog along the coast trying to sneak into the bay and the coastal valleys of the north bay and temperatures in the mid-30s to low 40s. here we go for today and watch the future radar bring a few more chances of showers this morning and to a lesser extent, during the afternoon hours to

going to lower this fingers crossed this weekend. kumasi. new protections are coming from mobile home park residents who are fearing evacuations. the san jose city council just voted on this the "mercury news" reported they will tighten restrictions at mobile home parks. the protections are expected to eventually expand to nearly 60 other mobile home parks in the city. san francisco is moving forward with its own plan to protect workers and renters because of coronavirus. one part of the plan would plan evictions because of income loss. the city wants to establish a fund to help small businesses pay rent and the board of supervisors is also considering a new form of paid sick leave for workers. another proposal would urge banks to suspend foreclosures and fees and utilities not to assess penalties. the coronavirus has dashed the dreams of a san francisco high school basketball team hoping to win its first ever state championship.

district officials an appeal to allow the mustangs to play in last night's division iv northern championship game. the game was canceled because of coronavirus even though the classes at lincoln are still in session. abc 7 news was there when assistant coach jacob hill spoke with district official. >> the schools are still in session. if it's a big scare, if it was a big scare, they would close the schools. that doesn't make sense. 2,000 kids at each school in the city but they can't have a basketball game. we would have the game without any fans, anything. we don't even mind traveling to go play the other team if that was possible. >> well, the answer was still no. so, lincoln's season is over. just two wins shy of a state title. the mustangs finish the year with a 29-4 record. i know that's disappointing, mike. >> i'd like to hear more about the logic behind that if you're having class with 2,000 kids together why can't you play a

basketball game with no spectators. kids work hard for that. just like the olympics. every four years. try not to postpone that. 4 4:56. look at 5:00 saturday morning and then as we head to the afternoon and evening hours. steady rain. and every once in a while gets a little heavier during saturday night into sunday. and then notice the rain stays around for a lot of us sunday and here we go into monday. we're still looking at some rain. snow level down to around 4,000, maybe 3,500 feet. so, if this model pans out, let me show you how much rain is possible. this is the european model. the one that's during this drought has been the better model of the medium range models and it is significantly wetter than the u.s. model which is not very good. look at these rainfall totals. more than an inch in many areas from san jose all the way up to fairfield and richmond and little less in the north bay. anywhere from half inch to three quarters of an inch. could be one of those three-day
