self-quarantine as a precaution for 14 days. tomorrow, san francisco's school board will have a closed meeting with public health officials focusing on the coronavirus outbreak. also breaking tonight, the u.s. is suspended most travel from europe beginning friday at midnight. the announcement was made in a rare white house address by the president tonight. abc 7 news reporter was live at san francisco international airport with reaction. chris. >> reporter: good evening. all the passengers we spoke to here at sfo, some were already in their plane seats ready to take off. others were in the lounge ready to board when they heard the president's announcement throwing their own plans into limbo. >> to keep new cases from entering our shores, we will be suspending all travel from europe to the united states for the next 30 days. >> reporter: effective friday, all flights from 26 countries in europe will be banned from entering the united states. the uk is exempt from the ban. so are american citizens and

abc 7 news reporter lauren martinez is live in san francisco with details on this. lauren. >> reporter: dan, san francisco city leaders gathered here in chinatown earlier to announce ways they can help small businesses right now. they're stressing we not only need to protect public health. we also need to protect economic health. >> there's a lot of fear. there's a lot of uncertainty. and folks are wondering what do we do? how are we going to get through this? we will get through this. >> reporter: mayor london breed stood aside leaders in chinatown to announce immediate measures to support small businesses in response to covid-19. >> we are allowing small businesses to defer the next round of quarterly business taxes to next year in february of 2021. >> reporter: the city is also delaying collection of licensing fees and creating a relief fund of $1 million. >> because chinatown is indeed suffering. >> reporter: business owner

al have to get off the bus and go back on the ship. >> reporter: turns out the wrong group was called so they had to do just that, get off the bus and go back on the "grand princess." >> it was a little upsetting. i got a little upset. lost it for a little bit. but i'm fine now. the government people said it was the ship's fault. the ship's people said it was the government's fault. >> reporter: wednesday night marks what will be the third night the ship is docked. there was an original hope that the disembarkment would be done now. nine hours after they originally deboarded the cruise ship, they were finally on a plane headed to atlanta, georgia. not their home in new jersey but it will do for now. >> just tell everybody we're doing good and we're on the way. >> reporter: and back out here live at the port of oakland, you're looking at the "grand princess" cruise ship. at this point it is unclear how many passengers are still on board that ship.
