of visitors came into marin beach towns, overwhelming a lot of locals. check it out. tonight bolinas residents are out here on horseshoe road practically begging visitors and surfers don't come into town. make a u-turn. turn back and go home to protect people who are living here. >> go home! >> reporter: bolinas residents took matters into their own hands sunday, posting themselves at the town's entrance, pleading with visitors to turn around. they clapped and cheered when drivers obeyed. >> thank you! >> we want everyone to be aware this isn't a spring break. it's not vacation. it's a pandemic. we're all supposed to stay at home. >> reporter: they also posted signs to send a message. on saturday, bolinas and stinson beach were overrun with cars and visitors looking for a break. beaches were packed. >> and we just wonder why they thought it was okay to just swarm stinson beach. >> diana morel has lived in stinson beach for 50 years. >> we want to be safe.

i'm an old gray hair, and i want to be safe. and i don't feel like i can even walk my dog right now. >> someone posted these green flyers saying if you don't live here, go home and stay there. you are putting us in danger. crowds forced the closure of the stinson beach parking lot. sky oaks road on mount tam was also closed off due to crowds. the sheriff's department tweeted shelter in place is not a vacation. we strongly advise against traveling away from your home to enjoy the scenery somewhere else. >> we need everybody to, you know, take the public health order seriously. it's not -- it's not a joke. it's not a drill. >> reporter: thomas churchill drove up from san francisco. >> it's really important to practice social distancing. the shelter in place rule is tough. but the only reason i'm out here is exercise which is one of the activities. >> reporter: diana urges everyone please stay home. >> if you need to walk, walk in your own neighborhood. >> we have a bad rap for hating tourists. but this isn't about that.

tweeted a reminder that city playgrounds are closed. ones that can be locked are, but officials remind everyone else not to go to any playgrounds at all. parks and trails are still open for people to explore while practicing social distancing. in the south bay, santa clara county says the virus has spread now to 39 more patients. abc7 news reporter jr stone joins us with more on how the county is responding to covid-19. jr? >> well, yeah, hospitals down here are some of the busiest locations here in santa clara county, and that includes the hospital directly behind me, the santa clara valley medical center. now, there is some good news to report in that there are still hospital beds that are available in some of the intensive care units in the county. the concerning part is that those 350 icu beds here in santa clara county are currently 75 to 80% full. 39 new cases today here in the county also two deaths, a woman in her 60s and a woman in her

40s. the chief executive officer of the county said this afternoon that they are in the process of putting an additional 290 beds in the icus. federal officials are also expected to bring in 238 beds. i know there are a lot of numbers, but may made the point today that they are aware of the need for beds, and they are trying to address that the best they can. >> i don't know if it's going to be enough. here's what i know. i know that we're going to work as hard as we can, as fast as we can to make sure that we're doing everything we can to make it -- to get as much as we can, because we don't want a single person who needs a ventilator to not have one. >> and a little while ago, we drove by some of those medical tents that have previously been put up outside some of the hospitals. and i can only say it certainly hits home when you see those tents outside of the hospitals. reporting live in santa clara county, jr stone, abc7 news.

>> jr, thank you very much. in santa clara, the u.s. public health service will set up a temporary hospital at the convention center. it will be up for up to 250 people who do not have covid-19 but need medical care. president trump has called for eight of these federal medical stations to be set up in california, providing 2,000 additional hospital beds. the bay area toll is approaching the 800 mark for confirmed cases of the virus. two deaths reported this afternoon in santa clara county have pushed up the regional death toll to 13 now. that county continues to have the most number of confirmed cases in the bay area now north of 300. napa county has its first two confirmed coronavirus cases. officials will not release details due to privacy requirements, but they say there is no known connection between the two cases. they do say a legal order has been issued for the patients to isolate and for close contacts of the patients to quarantine. a power outage left one of the busiest grocery stores in

san francisco in the dark this afternoon. the safeway in the marina district lost power at about 3:00. that caught shoppers inside off guard and kept employees scrambling to keep perishable goods from spoiling. >> we were in there for five minutes, and then the lights went back on, and everybody cheered. and then about two minutes later the lights went back off and you heard moaning coming from every aisle. >> pg&e estimates the power will be restored within the hour. grocery stores are one of the essential business as i loued to open during the shelter in place order. bart service is being reduced starting tomorrow because of a huge drop in ridership during the pandemic. stations will be open from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on weekdays. that's a three-hour reduction in service. weekend service will be reduced to 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. starting this upcoming saturday. people will have to be in the station no later than 8:45 and have to be out of the station later than 8:45. bart says ridership is down 90%.

and several other transit agencies are reducing service due to fewer passengers. golden gate transit has made cancellations. more weekend cuts will go into effect next saturday. smart has canceled all weekend service. ac transit and muni have made minor service changes while cva is currently free. starting tomorrow it will suspend the rapid 500 service from san jose diridon station to the berryessa transit center. and more warnings from hospitals across the country. they're in dire need of more medical supplies. the help the government says is coming, and how bay area residents are helping as well. and we've even seen some thunderstorms over the past couple of hours. but rain is quickly diminishing in the next few hours. however, we have more rain on the way with the accuweather seven-day forecast as a cold

hospital tonight. the concord democrat's condition worsened after he was admitted for complications of pneumonia last friday. a spokesman says he does not have coronavirus. his office says the complications began after he fell while running and fractured a rib. >> he was sore. he had fallen on a run. he is a big runner and broken a rib. so he was in a lot of discomfort. but i think the pneumonia set in probably not long after that. >> after that fall, his office confirmed that his condition worsened and said in part the doctors are doing everything they can to care for the congressman. mark's family and staff appreciate your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time. silicon valley based cisco is committing $225 million to fight coronavirus. the telecommunicationses and networking giant says the donation will be $8 million in cash and $210 million in products to help the global response. cisco says it will provide funding for businesses and

governments to use their technology for covid-19 related campaigns. silicon valley businesses have donated millions in days to help fight the virus. the federal government is shipping out millions of critical medical supplies as hospitals grapple with shortages. marci gonzalez has more. >> reporter: as the number of confirmed novel coronavirus cases increases, so too does a concern about a shortage of supplies in hospitals across the country. >> we can't do some of the more common life-saving things we normally do in the emergency department like intubation, cpr, other things without a significant risk to us health care workers. >> an internal memo from a doctor at new york presbyterian hospital say they're now going through 40,000 n95 masks a day, ten times more than usual and expecting that number to go up significantly in the next few weeks. officials in that hard hit state purchase mortgage than two million masks and 6,000

angeles. >> several local donation drives have been organized to help out our bay area health care workers. abc7 news was at doorress and 18th this afternoon as ucsf medical students took in donations of masks, gloves and more. they told us more than 5,000 items were donated yesterday and they already collected more than 3,000 items today. >> we're getting masks. that's surgical masks and n95 masks which a lot of people bought for the wildfires. we're also getting a lot of gloves, goggles and face shields and bunny suits which are also really helpful for us. >> ucsf will have its own ppe donation drive this week. you can drop off masks and other items from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the mount zion medical center and the mission center building in san francisco or children's hospital in oakland. hayward is taking matters into its own hands by opening its own covid-19 testing site. it will be at fire station number 7 on huntwood near tennyson road. tests are free for first

store for shelter in place residents in western santa clara county. since restaurants can't be open due to social distancing, flight restaurant teamed up with local stores to help the community get essentials. the drive-through concept will work similar to what you see in fast food restaurants. >> so basically, you pull up misdemeanor style. you look at a menu that we offer, you pick your choices, you pull up to the next little place, and you make your payment. in the meantime, someone runs inside, grab the ready to go sandwiches, the cheese, the toilet paper, whatever you ended up ordering, and they bring it out, put it in your trunk and off you go. >> the grocery pickup line will have various hard to find necessities including milk, egg, chicken, cheese, and of course toilet paper. grocery stores across the country have been busy. this is the safeway on bird avenue in san jose's willow glen neighborhood. plastic partitions have been put up there in checkout lines to help protect the staff. all right. i saw a few droplets on my

windshield as i drove into work. is that part of a pattern or all we're going to see? >> it depends where you are, eric. some people that's all they're going to get. and some people got quite a bit of rain like santa rosa and parts of san jose. some people got nothing at all. here is doppler 7. an area of low pressure moving towards southern california right now. and this even brought some areas some thunderstorms this afternoon. we saw a few in the bay area as well. but most of it is heading south now of monterey towards san luis obispo and along 101 there. in the san jose area, we are getting some light rain falling through parts of the south bay and near the dunbarton bridge and also towards fremont, and then many areas didn't get rain, but parts of santa rosa got almost 0.3 earlier today. here is a live view from the east bay, checking out the gorgeous clouds and blue skies out there right now. temperatures are on the milder side, in the 60s and 50s. san francisco 61.

oakland, 63. san jose 56 and mid-50s right now in gilroy and in half moon bay. and this is the live shot of the san jose airport where we're seeing some gray skies. we had some light rain falling earlier today. also, we have temperatures in the 60, even 70s hanging on to that in fairfield, 72. and low 60s through santa rosa, petaluma, and also napa. this is a live shot in tahoe. they're getting some snow right now. as the system moves through, they're going get even more snow tuesday through thursday. so if you are sheltering in place in tahoe, keep that in mind. you'll get quite a bit of snow midweek. our forecast for the by area diminishing showers over the next few hours and overnight. then we have another system moving our way. this is a very typical system. so it's going to bring us cold showers coming in from the northwest tuesday and wednesday temperatures will drop as well. and then we have a warming trend towards the end of the week. so here is a look at the forecast animation 7:00 tonight.

we still could see showers in the san jose area in davenport. and then you notices that system slides south and inland, we'll be mostly dry tomorrow, monday. but we could see a few isolated spotty showers here and there during the day. maybe even parts of the north bay as well. you see some isolated showers there. temperatures will be on the cooler side. so rainfall estimates through tomorrow morning really not much for the north bay. so san francisco may be 0.01. mountain view maybe. .08. low 40s through parts of the north bay where we'll see some clearer skies overnight. near 50 around the bay for san francisco and oakland and san mateo, and upper 40s elsewhere. tomorrow temperatures will be a little cooler compared to today. so lots of upper 50s to low 60s. san francisco, 57. oakland, 59. san jose, 62 degrees. now here is the accuweather seven-day forecast. we've got so much change in the forecast. so tomorrow isolated showers.

tuesday, that's when the cold system arrives. and into wednesday we'll have a chilly morning wednesday morning with some lingering showers. then things turn around. brighter skies on thursday, and we have that warming trend into next weekend where temperatures will be near 70 degrees next week on sunday for the inland areas and around the bay mild mid-60s. so it will be tough for folks to stay home due to sheltering in place. if you're out, please keep your distance from everyone. now abc7 sports with chris alvarez. >> the 2020 summer olympics are set to begin july 24th in tokyo. today the ioc announcing they're going to make a decision whether they should postpone the games at some point in the next fewer weeks. this is the first time they publicly announced the game could be postponed. they also added cancelling the games are not under consideration. that would likely impact the tokyo paralympic schedule. we'll wait and see. according to reports the
