from 7:00 to 4:00, we have mymi mainly light or moderate showers, and they will taper as we head into the evening hours, and temperatures still in the low to mid-50s. now to the latest developmen developments involving the coronavirus. congress is close to reaching a deal on the economic stimulus package, chuck schumer and mnuchin say they expect to reach an agreement sometime today. the deal had been stalled in congress over the past two days. here in the bay area more than 900 people are infected with the virus and 17 have died. the count includes cases in santa cruz case, and further out mendocino cases have reported one case but no cases in lake county. this park is not for you and neither in the parking lot. the governor is getting serious about shutting down areas where you are supposed to not be. we have julian in half moon bay.

>> reporter: good morning, reggie. parking lots at 35 state parks and beaches across the state are now closed. governor newsom said it was a decision he did not want to make but had to after seeing large crowds gathering over the weekend. it was an attempt to help us help ourselves by closing down the state parks. many people drove in from far and wide from out of town, and neighbors were concerned the visitors were not doing their part to help slow the spread >> when you are out there and can't find parking at a beach, it's suggests you are not going to practice social distancing and it may suggest you may want to find a new location. to make it easier for you we will shutdown all state parking lots, and that will go in effect immediately. >> reporter: sounded like you

just got bad news from your dad, right? here's a list of the parks and beaches closed in california, 26 closures alone. those state parks and beaches will still be open but instead gavin newsom encouraging folks to walk, jog, bike to the park. it's all in an effort to help slow the spread of the coronavirus. >> thank you, julian. marine couy officials are urging social distancing to avoid what you are seeing here. as julian mentioned, hikers and joggers and others crowded public places over the weekend despite the guidance to keep away, and that comes as a top official suggests he has coronavirus. >> today i was diagnosed with covid-19. i am here on home quarantine as marin's 39th confirmed case.

possible. tonight the coverage tapers a little bit and so does the intensity, and look where the clouds open, mid to upper 30s in the north bay, and the south bay, mid to low 40s. down towards san bruno is where a line of showers is moving through right now so if you have to head out it's going to be slippery in those areas. the showers continue, and you saw yellows as we head through the day. best chance of showers, possibly the santa cruz mountains in the evening hours in the south bay. cold front sweeps through and introduces a colder and unstable air mass but doesn't have as much moisture so the coverage tomorrow is not as great but the threat of thunderstorms is still there with lightning and hail. we have that one today and tomorrow, and our coldest days, low to mid-50s today and a few

over all there are 906 reported cases in the bay area and at least 17 deaths. we want to update cases in lake and having enough supplies on the front lines has been a challenge. you can help by dropping off masks and gloves in three different locations. >> reporter: the health officials here in contra costa county are admitting they don't have enough protective gear for the medical workers on the front line, and they are asking you to bring them to the library here. a health care worker can go through several gowns, masks and sets of gloves in one shift. they don't have enough.

protect public safety. in the east bay the board of supervisors ilmeetin wl not physically be in the chamber but will take part remotely. they are going to talk about emergency services in the county. in the south bay you are invited to join in the san jose city council meeting today, and members will give an update to the city's response to covid-19 and operation plans. the council is expected to discuss finance assistant for low income households and the fire department where 13 people there have tested positive. if you want to go, you can physically attend the meeting, and it will be live streamed on the city's youtube channel. and businesses across san francisco are boarding up their storefronts and that violates city code but the city says that's fine.

california man that died from coronavirus. he was only 34 years old. he is one of the five people in l.a. county that died from covid-19. he started experiencing symptoms while in orlando, and he died last week. his friends say he fought hard to beat coronavirus. >> acknowledging that anybody and everybody can get this and we all have a responsibility, a social responsibility to protect ourselves, our loved ones and community. >> his friends say this serves as a wake-up call for younger people that may think they are safe from contracting the virus. dozens of restaurants and retail businesses across san francisco are boarding up their storefronts with plywood in violation of city code, but going to be cited. look at this, all these boards covering windows and doors on a lot of stores here, and business owners hope it will discourage
