testing, governor newsom says thousands are still waiting for their results. you have the story we'll only hear on abc 7. >> reporter: two weeks, marin county as been quietly testing people in san rafael. not just anyone can come. >> this is a physician-referral only site. individuals do show up without an appointment, unfortunately, they will be turned away. >> reporter: by guards at the entrance. hendricks tells me 700 people have received tests at this site. at the onset of the coronavirus crisis, tests were in short supply. counties have run into another problem. >> labs are not able to keep up with demand, so we're only able to submit, for instance at our state lab, 50 tests a day when quite honestly we're testing more than that number every single day.

un, dan a 7 news. food and drug administration just approved a test that provides results in just 15 minutes. it expects to deliver 50,000 tests per day starting next week. just last week the fda approved another round of tests with results in about 45 minutes. most tests right now can take several days. we're hearing from some people it can be a few weeks. apple released a new app and website to help you screen for the coronavirus. it asks you about your symptoms, gives you information on covid-19. resources available now were created with the help of the cdc, fema and white house coronavirus task force. tim cook announced the company is donating 10 million face masks in the u.s. and europe. we'll take a little bit of a break now and get a check on the weather with lisa argen. how are you? >> hey, liz. good morning to you. we have scattered showers developing around the bay area. you can see this camera looks a

convention of coyotes you hear but residents of mill valley checking in with each other thanks to a community howl. it's become a thing. every night at 8:00, during the stay-at-home order, a chance for neighbors to step outside and connect. jennifer nesbit and her kids never miss it. >> it's kind of a way to release stress and to know that you're going to hear some of your neighbors, recognize some voices. >> reporter: but it's more than just blowing off steam. it's a chance to thank medical workers on the front lines of the pandemic. >> it's really fun to just howl and thank all the hospital people. >> reporter: the idea started in italy. quarantined citizens singing and making noise, thanking doctors and nurses and greeting each other. back home, there's a new take. howls are echoing through the hills and canyons, even retirement communities are letting loose. the mill valley howl has its own

san mateo closed regional parks district, and many other state parks have been shut down like mt. diabo and walnut creek, on top of marin county and other san francisco beaches. today begins the first weekend bart will temporarily reduce hours because of the drastic drop in ridership since the covid-19 outbreak. they'll close at 9:00 p.m. every day. weekend hours 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. riders must be in the system by 8:45 to have a guaranteed ride. they considered eliminating sunday service but the board decided against it. muni and light rail will no longer run. caltrain will run even fewer train trains, down to 42 trains. usually there are 92 per day. since the shelter in place,

daily sales are down 90%. entertaining children can be tough right now, especially with schools being out until at least early may. one community is coming together to make a stroll in the neighborhood fun for the entire family. abc 7 news melissa pixcar has the story. >> reporter: a neighborhood in oakland is coming together by trying to make the shelter in place order more bearable for children. folks are placing teddy bears and stuffed animals in their windows to have a scavenger hunt like game. neighbors are calling it a bear hunt, the idea was inspired by children's book "going on a bear hunt" by michael rosen. >> we saw 15, 20, 25 bears. it was really cool. >> some children have placed their most prized stuffed animals for other children to see. >> what kind of bear did you put in your window? >> princess bear, baby bear and a grown-up bear. >> 4-year-old benjamin enjoyed

i've actually been doing some studying for my ap exams that are supposed to be in may. i don't know if they're still happening. my name is kendall jensen. i live in brentwood, california, and i'm a senior. so, actually, right now i'm supposed to be touring a bunch of colleges, but they -- all those tours got canceled because the campuses shut them down. people like my age, we're just, you know -- we're just scared because it's almost like our whole lives we've been like, okay, high school, college, here you go. and it's like everything is kind of like frozen. it's like, we might not even finish our last quarter of high school. so, i think we're all vujust li really scared about our futures and what's going to happen. our prom is probably canceled. so, it's tough because you're like, what do you do now? you spent $400 on a dress that you probably can't even really

sunday morning. we look live outside right now, you'll notice it's certainly dark out there. the sun coming up at 7:00. it will be setting at 7:29. looking at a level one on our storm impact scale. in fact, this system will allow for some scattered showers, heavier downpours tomorrow, from a quarter of an inch to six-tenths as we get through the weekend. and looking at breezy wins at times. we have a few sprinkles out there right now, and a live look from our camera, certainly a lot of cloud cover. if you're headed out, you may want to bring the rain gear, heading out with the dog or maybe a bike ride you may want to hold off until the afternoon. actually by tomorrow afternoon, it looks like we'll see some sunshine. not a washout over the entire weekend. we look at the north bay, you'll see very light returns, few sprinkles from highway 1, novato, san rafael. darker shading of green, we likely have the heavier showers, light sprinkles from daly city,

to south san francisco, over into the east bay. oakland, m sprinkles in the far east bay valleys on the peninsula, a cell here around portolo valley. 280. peninsula looking damp out there from redwood city and shifting into the south bay, just a few light scattered sprinkles from san jose, mt. hamilton. a little bit of pink there. this is a cold system but not cold enough to bring us any significant snow in the mountains. maybe one to three inches. we could see a little bit of rain/snow mix like we saw there at mt. hamilton today and into tomorrow. it is 51 in hayward, san mateo, 46 in napa. outside again we're looking at the gray skies. spring showers today. in fact, we're looking at heavier rain, it looks like, 24 hours from now. on and off for the weekend.

and looking at a sunny and warmer pattern for next week. as we go through the next several hours, this is 7:30. you'll notice a few light showers. not everyone is seeing them. this shifts inland by noontime. and you'll notice we have mostly cloudy skies, maybe a few sprinkles, random shower, but overnight looking at more activity. this is tomorrow, 24 hours from now, and we are certainly looking at more wet weather, maybe some pretty good downpours at times, and the rainfall amounts, this is saturday and sunday, a quarter inch to half inch, maybe six-tenths out there. highs today 58 underneath cloudy skies. level one system of scattered showers. i do want to show you what we have to look forward to on monday. we're in the 60s. warming begins. tuesday we're above average and wednesday, widespread warmth out there, upper 70s. accuweather seven-day forecast, a wet weekend ahead. the last weekend of march. and after that, it looks sunny and mild with warmer days as we head through the next week
