and pandemic and flatten the curve. >> because of what we've done in complying with social distancing, it has saved lives. >> reporter: fearing worst, governor newsom is looking to and fanld health care work force by tens of thousands of employees. he put out this call to help. >> if you're a nursing school student, a medical school student, we need you. if you've just retired in the last few years, we need you. >> the number of cases in the bay area shot past 2,000 confirmed today. santa clara county saw its cases spiked by over 200 and now has 848 cases. it reported three new deaths for a total of 28. marin county saw its deaths jump from one to four bringing the bay area's total tonight to 56. >> to our north, mendocino county is reporting four total cases. >> we're trackinging the bay area through a bell curve. you can see where we are. the curve was fairly flat at the
