california saw its first daily decrease in intensive care hospitalization. it appears the virus is spreading at a slower pace. good evening. thank you for joining us. >> it is the next front tier of covid-19 testing. looking for antibodies to the virus. >> we get a look inside a san francisco lab that is racing to get a test into the hands of doctors. >> labs all over the country are developing and evaluating coronavirus antibody tests. right now scientists working inside this building on the san francisco general hospital deploy a test to patients and healthcare workers. >> i'm excited about it. especially the results that we're getting. >> a associate professor and codirector of the clinical lab at san francisco general. where she and a team tested 500

blood samples from 80 patients when were positive for coronavirus. >> we validate the method. you can see the increase and raise in the response over time. >> the test reveal people develop coronavirus antibodies two to 15 days after the symptoms. they expect to use the test on patients and employees within san francisco public health system. >> antibodies can show if someone has had a previous infection. this is important because we are not able to do swabs on every individual in the population. if a healthcare workers htidi t increase risk of acquiring the virus. they could be more on the front line of fighting this. the only risk is we don't know if antibodies the presene means someone is immune.

we're hopeful that is what happens with many viruss. >> to get an antibody test it must be ordered by a doctor. she doesn't expect to reagent shortage like the one that crippled testing last month. >> in the south bay the ridge center has been affected by the virus. it's quote hard to pin down a number of how many residents approximate staff have tested positive at the facility. >> a second covid-19 positive patient died at the care center. the facility says the patient was already on hospice care and never had coronavirus symptoms. we reported on the first death. also in hospice. and two dozen cases at the

center. officials believe the out break started with five people. three staff members. >> new developments. the number op confirmed cases is deaths. >> they kept telling us she's in the safest place she can. it doesn't seem true. >> state records show the facility had 25 federal violations hast last year. a report in august showing a patient missed two doses of antibiotics because a nurse was not on the schedule. low staffing can be related to infection rates. tonight we confirmed a coronavirus out break at a senior livin.ty we'll have more on that story.

than 4,500 confirmed cases of covid-19. 119 people died. further north lake county now has three cases. >> now to some of the major headlines around california unemployment benefits will jump by $600 a week. starring sunday. governor signed an order allowing three special elections sked yuld for may and june to be held as mail in only. elections are in counties in southern california and short term rental facilities to close. >> a group of activists and attorneys are calling for the release of all inmates from the jail. eleven have tested positive for covid-19. and 600 others have been released to prevent overcrowding. civil rights activists say not releasing all of them could be

fired. >> botd body cam video captured the confrontation. in march 2018. several investigators found the use of o force to be lawful. last year the open police commission recommended the officers be fired. this latest hearing was conducted by a third party. he found the officers violated the department use of force policy and therefore the termination is appropriate. the officers who fired their guns claim they shot after he made for a move for a gun on the ground. the latest hearing is not the final step. they filed a lawsuit to keep their jobs. >> the family is sng depame or e family attorney claims he was on the ground unconscious and woke up dazed when police opened fire.

let's always keep our distance - please, six feet apart at least. let's look after ourselves, as well as others. it will all be worth it. we can all do our part. so those on the front line can do their part. and when this is over, we will all, continue, to thrive. late this afternoon the i team confirmed a another coronavirus out break. this time at drake terrace. these continued out breaks in retirement communities have some in the industry questioning part of the governors plan to address the pandemic.

weather. let's check out a lovely type lapse. this is just a short time ago. you can see that marine layer marching across san francisco. this is something that we're used to around this time of year. a familiar site. heading into tomorrow morning you'll be dealing with some of that fog. first thing in the morning. also the possibility of a few damp spots. live doppler 7. there is moisture around. that is heading in our direction. so a few showers will be developing in the next couple hours. here's a wider picture in association with the same low pressure system. that continues to rain over 'se a h e raesed the across southern area. believe it or not a recent rain did help us from getting worse. we have some spots that are dry. and moderate. it could have been worse.

temperatures in the 40s, 50s. it's comfortable. live look and you are seeing the clouds around. ice layed showers and fog tonight. sunny and warm for the weekend. that will continue into next week. here's the preview. tomorrow you'll start out with the fog. maybe a few damp spots. sunshine for the afternoon. milder saturday. and easter sunday looking great with warmth upper 70s. hour by hour. midnight tonight you see the green spots indicating showers developing by 2:00 a.m. they're gone. lingering fog and clouds in the morning. with the temperatures not 40s 50s with that blanket of cloud cover. for the afternoon, you will see sunshine. more so in the north bay. little less in the south bay. with the extra clouds. temperatures anywhere from the upper 50s to low 70s.
