20 ucsf health care workers are headed for new york city today, volunteering for one month after new york presbyterian with coronavirus patients. these are photos posted by the ucsf twitter page. they specialize in critical care and hospital and emergency medicine. one doctor says the situation is dire. >> new york city, there are over 20,000 hospitalized patients with the illness. new york presbyterian is caring for 2,500 patients, 640 of whom are on ventilators. >> there have been more than 6,300 deaths in new york city alone. the governor says it may be at its apex right now. a group of east bay volunteers hosted a donation drive for personal protective

it will last through the duration of the shelter in place order. the oakland zoo is actively looking for new revenue streams while protecting its wildlife from coronavirus. the zoo has been closed to the public because of the shelter in place order. about 90% of the zoo's finances come from admissions, but without that much needed revenue, the zoo has been forced to lay off more than 100 part-time employees. in the meantime, the zoo has started a subscription based behind the scenes video series and remaining employees like public safety workers are complying with social distancing. the zoo is actively watching the animals for symptoms. >> we wear masks around the majority of our animals to prevent the potential of our animals spreading a disease to us and us getting our animals sick. >> currently all the animals are healthy, a status the zoo hopes to keep as long as the coronavirus is spreading. nian cancelled due to the coronavirus
