this is getting to be pretty cool. unfortunately, you know, the reason behind it is not and we'll talk more about that coming up. let me focus in on the weather. a little bit of a storm trying to roll through. youee the looks pretty impressive. a lot of it not making to the ground. one of our returnsou 27 head towards pleasant hill and also lafayette and walnut creek and over towards concord and this will keep moving north towards highway 4. down in the south bay pretty cloudy here and 55 degrees. temperatures low to mid 50s this morning and hang out in the 50s through noon and a few 60s away from the coast and not enough for a storm impact scale. let's get back to reggie and more news. >> mike, thank you. starting this morning an entire community here in the bay area will be tested for coronavirus. that is regardless of the contact people have had symptoms they may be displaying.

let's go to luz >> starting this morning belinas will offer a free covid-19 test to every single one of their 2,000 residents here. sponsored by a venture capitalist and a pharmaceutical executive who raised $3,000 to be able to do this and partnered with ucsf. the two men said they were inspired to do it by the italian town which had success by testing all of their residents. >> we're doing this in a way where we don't feel like we're taking any tests away from anybody who otherwise might need one. >> we don't know if there have been a lot of people infected. dnowon'tacaldot veuch . we have no idea. >> ucsf is launching a similar effort on saturday in a part of san francisco's mission district where they hope to test 5,700

people. the hope is that the results of these tests will help on a broader level and lead to more city, county and state-wide testing overall. expanded testing is one of the six factors that is needed in order to begin reopening the state. now, here in bolinas this testing will begin at 9:00 a.m. and tests and signs are ready to begin and volunteers arrive at 7:30. so we're told 1,600 people have been signed up to be tested. >> thank you, liz. thousands of people who live or work in san francisco's mission district can get tested later this week and this is part of the same ucsf study. anyone that is at least 4 years old are encouraged to get tested whether you have symptoms or not. testing will be done by appointment starting this saturday and goes through next tuesday. now on abc7 news live desk update. >> at the live desk, i'm looking at a new study that shows more people may have had coronavirus

than previously thought. the head of the cdc says 25% of infected people may not have symptoms. this means the coronavirus death rate could be much lower than previously thought. but it also complicates decisions about returning to work and school when we can't tell who is contagious. a word of caution from public health experts at harvard. they say it's difficult to figure out the exact percentage of asymptomatic patients because of inadequate testing. throat and nose suwaub suwaub sb >> thank you, jobina. new this morning, we're following a report hitus. the pacific hills maner in morgan hill its website said one staff member tested positive. the nursing and rehab facility said the person last worked on the morning of april 7th and no one else there tested positive. pacific hills manor said it is closely monitoring three

residents and two workers. governor newsom is giving us an update on the state's response to the pandemic at noon and abc7 news will air his remarks live. while california's efforts seem to be slowing the spread, there are new cases in the bay area. the current count on the map shows more than 6,400 confirmed cases of covid-19 and 201 people have died. now to our north, there are now 11 confirmed cases of coronavirus. lake county has six. mendocino county has five. so far no deaths in either county. workers at some of san francisco's largest companies are now eligible to receive what 80 hours if a worker has to miss time because of covid-19. temporary workers are included in this measure as well as nonprofits and companies like uber, lyft and doordash.

san jose has a similar measure for essential employees. volunteers will be out in san francisco, again, making sure people who need masks are able to get them. san francisco, contra costa, alameda and sonoma county are all requiring some sort of face covering when you go out in public. this weekend volunteers handed out a thousand masks before they ran out. >> we're trying to get it to the people who really need it. >> reporter: a big outreach measure in the heart of san francisco tenderloin. face masks and hand sanitizer, two vital tools in the fig ahe corner of jones and eddy streets. joann is tryingme. because i can rewash it. >> reporter: neighbors are also getting info about covid-19. >> we were not expecting so many

people. >> reporter: supervisor matt hany was surprised so many people showed up. check out the line, it was long. >> this shouldn't be something that people don't have access to. everybody should have one of these. i'm committed to getting a mask to everybody in this community who needs one. >> reporter: he is collecting donations to pay for the masks and sanitizer on this go fund me page. more than 7 grand so far. he's teaming up with organizations like united that is helping to pass them out. >> it's only right that we take care of our people. they're not forgotten. >> did you have a mask before today. >> reporter: deborah coolly is feeling safer. >> cough and gag in front of your face. >> reporter: homeless advocates say people living on the streets can't always protect themselves. >> for people who are housed, they can go inside and take off th mask and they don't have to be wearing them. for folks who do not have that option, will have to be using it a lot more. >> reporter: the mask ordinance requires people to wear a mask in public, but not when you're

there. unfortunately, not a lot of it is reaching the ground because it is too dry between 10,000 and 5,000 feet. so, expect some sprinkles to light rain over the next hour or so. looks pretty quiet near the shark tank looking up near san jose maneta. isolated showers later today and not enough for a storm impact scale. now, the breezes will pick up later on this afternoon at the coast and that's where they remain and that will keep you much cooler than the rest of us. quite a summer spread as we get deeper into this week' forecast. here's a lookfuture radar. things get really quiet this afternoon other than a slight chance of showers in lake and mendocino counties. clouds clear out and still along the peninsula coast and into the south bay. but for the most part, pretty quiet morning and a very quiet afternoon. so, let's take a look at the potential for precipitation and it's just not impressive at all.

here to golden gate park. it is 4:20, but there will be no celebration here. she says, don't even think about it. she's even asked a well-known rapper to ask her to spread the n gat park. stay home this 4/20. usually this day attracts thousands of people to golden gate park to celebrate smoking pot. san francisco police officers will patrol the park today and they will give out citations if necessary. e-40 told us yesterday in an instagram live interview that at least seven people close to him have tested positive for covid-19. he says this is personal and it's important. >> i'm playing my position as the ambassador. one of the main things that i was concerned about is hippy hill and thank you, e-40, for letting it be known that everybody needs to stay in the house this particular year. >> 4/20 has become such a huge gathering at golden gate park.

nevada's governor for taking early action against the virus. couples can now say i do over zoom. new york's governor andrew cuomo says zoom and other services can be used to obtain marriage licenses online. it doesn't stop there. clerks can also conduct marriage of ceremonies remotely. reaction to this on social media is mixed. some question why couples would tie the knot during a pandemic and others point out marriage could offer practical benefits because couples can share health insurance coverage. >> now, that's a good point. >> that's a good point. but, also, why are you questioning why someone else wants to get married right now. can't you just mind your business? >> no, because people on the internet talking about how they're spending too much time with their significant other in this pandemic. i'm not calling any names. >> i feel lucky that i have company. >> this is true. but some people are like, i just feel like i need to get out of the house. i need a break. so, this is my point. if you can survive the pandemic
