look north from the shark tank. 55 to 63. so, pretty mild this morning. stay in the 50s at the coast as the breezes pick up, once again. they'll keep us in the mid 70s along the bay shoreline and you can see upper 70s as we head from our inland neighborhoods and then we're back in the 50s and 60s with clearing conditions. more stars as we head towards 7:00. let's get back to reggie for more news. >> thanks, mike. a brand-new testing site opens today for those people in the east bay and amy hollyfield tells us about it at the allegheny fairgrounds who who this could help. >> this opens at 9:00 this morning for residents of livermore and dublin who have one of the following symptoms or it must meet one of these requirements. take a look. we have a list for you of what they're looking for before they decide to give you a test. a fever above 100 degrees. shortness of breath, recent exposure to confirmed or

suspected coronavirus patient, any other chronic disease that you may be suffering from. people over the age of 65. currently or recently pregnant or the homeless. stanford health care system is putting this on. organizers say they have 150 tests available per day or about 750 for the week. they say the results will be available for you within three days. we are at gate 12 at the alameda county fairgrounds. if supplies run out for the day, they'll post signs at the gate lating you know they're out for the day. no doctor's note needed and no appointment necessary. so, if you meet one of those requirements or the residents of one of those three cities, this is available to you. and it's opening today starting at 9:00. reporting live in pleasanton, amy hollyfield. while we are speaking about testing, we saw thousands of people taking advantage of the

testing site in the mission district this weekend. an area with one of the highest infection rate in san francisco. remember, these people do not have to have symptoms to get tested. the tests are part of a larger study to learn more about the virus and how it affects people in different ethnicities. we learned saturday that 24 people tested positive at the single room occupancy hotel in the mission. many of those residents speak spanish and have under lying health conditions. well, there are signs that many people are staying home less. the experts are calling it quarantine fatigue, which could be a disturbing trend in the mist of the covid-19 pandemic. here's cornell bernard. >> i think everyone is anxious to go out. >> reporter: a gorgeous sunday afternoon on the sausalito water front and for many it was too hard to stay home. >> a lot of cabin fever. >> reporter: dave and carolyn came from napa for a quarantine break. >> we came down here to get some fresh air and social distance from everybody and just enjoy life. >> reporter: the city of

sausalito has triedawin t shelter-in-place order and signs have been posted and starting this weekend every single city parking lot is closed to discourage day trippers yet people keep showing up. >> you can't go to work right now but people are going on vacation. >> reporter: ken collins shared this video in santa cruz. parked cars lined up for more than a mile near a beach because beach parking lots are off limits. >> i have never seen it this crowded on fourth of july, memorial day, labor day, christm christmas saw scenes like this. crowded beaches with little social distancing. >> beaches are full of people and i don't think it's right. >> staying home is just not easy. i think people are getting a little quarantine fatigue. >> reporter: university of maryland professioner is tracking smartphone data which shows a disturbing trend. for the first time since states

are implementing stay-at-home orders, americans are staying home less. >> not helping in terms of fighting the virus. >> reporter: they'll stay home as long as it takes. >> if that is what it takes to keep the world safe, we'll do what we have to do. at the same time, we should be able to go out and self distance. >> reporter: sausalito says this park remains open, but police urge folks, stay home if you can. help for small businesses is on the way. jobina fortson is at the live desk with the program that has more funding starting today. jobina? >> the paycheck protection program has been restored, thanks to the economic stimulus deal congress approved last week. the deal replenishes this program with $320 billion. the small business administration will resume taking applications at 7:30 this morning. small businesses can apply for loans that will be forgiven, if

they maintain their payroll. the paycheck protection program initially ran out of funding earlier this month. about two weeks after the program launched with $349 billion. many businesses are banking on these loans to have their businesses survive because they had to close due to the coronavirus pandemic. reggie, i'll send it over to you. >> jobina, thank you. happening today, british prime minister boris johnson is heading back to work. this is video of him arriving at downing street after being in the icu for coronavirus. at one point authorized british foreign secretary to prime minister duties and he is returning to work after being discharged from the hospital two weeks ago. the hospital of amy klobuchar said he is one of the state's first to donate his plasma. donating to the mayo clinic after recently recovering.

plasma from recovered patients has shown promise in helping others fight the virus. her husband is still showing one lingering symptom. >> he can't clean the basement because he said he has too much dust. >> there's a lot of dust down there. >> that's the one thing. >> a similar plasma just started at ucsf this weekend and doctors hope it works based on other infectious diseases but they don't know for sure. you can donate at any blood bank if you have no symptoms for at least 28 days. well, krsk survivors are sharing their past two recovers some recovered setbacks after being discharged from the hospital. >> reporter: as life starts to get back to normal, many people are adjusting to their new lives after having had the virus, but it's clear people are recovering differently. chicago nurse daniel ortiz who tested positive himself. >> i woke up and i was like in

sweat. but i felt really cold. >> reporter: in early april after his symptoms subsided and her cdc guidelines he returned to work and his cough returned and he was tested again, twice. one result negative and the latest test positive. >> we're right back at square one if you think about it. i had it, is there a chance i could get reinfected? maybe. >> reporter: so far 900,000 in the united states of those 110,000 people recovered. jack allerd is a former all-american lacrosse player and he was placed in a medical induced coma one month ago after testing positive. he now has to learn again saying, quote, your legs don't do what you want them to. but you put your head down and force yourself to stand up and take a couple of steps and the next day take a few more steps. this 36-year-old michigan mother of three battled the virus for 40 days and says she was turned

away six times before she could get a test. >> i thought at times the hospital was sending me home just to die at home in my bed. >> reporter: she suffered intense flu-like symptoms for weeks all while isolated from her children. sh's now feeling better, but still has no sense of taste or smell. >> people need to be aware of how serious this is. >> that is a lot, but i'm so happy to see they recovered. you know, even though it is probably a long road, but they are doing better. >> she had symptoms for weeks. that is, that is rough. >> that is rough. >> stay off the beach. >> that's got to wear on you. only sheltering in place and then you catch it and then you have to stay confined to your bed. you can't get up and move around.

are being diverted on to 280. that will happen until 6:00 a.m. that is when they're expecting to reopen the southbound lanes but reroute that traffic on to the northbound side while workers demolish the southbound deck. the project does appear to be on schedule. they demolished the northbound deck over the weekend and it has been repaved. so, basically, all of that needs to dry so it is good to go. also here another story after a few weeks of sheltering in place, drivers are starting to get back on the roads. according to abc7 news contributor phil traffic on bay area bridges are beginning to edge back up. there has been about a 5% increase every few days. traffic is still significantly lighter than usual. of course, we can see that. but as people slowly return to work in this new temporary normal, fewer people are taking public transit. reggie and kumasi. >> thanks, jobina.

it's me. the doctors mostly agree that sheltering in place has to continue, but not all of them. as the bay area enters week seven of our shelter-in-place, a video of two bay area doctors pushing for the state to reopen has gone viral. >> do we still need to shelter in place? our answer is emphatically no. >> doctors here in the bay area di disagree saying not so fast. julian glover has that story. >> we spoke to several medical experts here in the bay area and they completely disagree with the ideas presented by those doctors in bakersfield saying, no, it is not the time to lift the governor's stay at-ho at-home-orders. >> they have been getting a lot of likes and clicks on their

5,000 coronavirus tests they have done at urgent care facilities around bakersfield. that data suggests a large portion of the state's population is already infect would the virus but it's not scientifically sound to use the numbers from one slice of life, one county, to make the case for reopening the entire california economy. >> cases are still going up, in case anybody hadn't noticed. and mortality rates, the death and the number of deaths are going up. california had the largest number of death in a single day two days ago. how that's reassuring everybody and wanting to, you know, reverse what is going on and reverse what has been successful so far, i don't know. >> good points made from the doctor from ucsf, the goal is still to continue flattening the curve and right now the stay-at-home order is helping us do just that.

everybody else along the east bay shore 50 in fremont to 55 in oakland and low to mid 50s everywhere and some exceptions. good morning, los gatos and northern contra costa county. and a lot of 46s up in the north bay. san mateo bridge 54 and pretty clear right now. that bridge along with the dum barton bridge and the bay bridge a little breezy during the afternoon hours as will the san francisco bay in general. so, that's your only real commuting issue i can see. let's talk about temperatures. look at the north bay. quick warming from 51 this morning to 73 at 11:00. upper 70s to near 80 for several hours this afternoon. a gorgeous 73 degrees at 7:00. high clouds and sunshine will rule the east bay sky with temperatures from 52 this morning to 66 at 11:00 to low to mid 70s from at least noon through 6:00. and very nice, 66 at 7:00.

another live look in san francisco. so, what you are seeing here is a live look at the alemany 101 project. i can see the lane change getting set up to go. you can expect big change physical you're driving through the san francisco area to work this morning. as of right now, both northbound and southbound traffic on 101 is being deert haiverted to 280. they are working on that bridge work there. that will happen until 6:00 a.m. when southbound lanes will be rerouted on to northbound 101 while workers demolish the southbound deck. tis project was supposed to happen over the summer. they're taking advantage of the lighter traffic because of the

seniors who are already missing out on their high school graduations are worried they may not tand tand tand tand dream colleges in the fall. this friday is a big decision day when they have to commit to a university. there is fear that a second wave of the virus could force incoming freshman to stay home this fall. > not even comparable to what a good college experience should be. >> as many as one in six students say they want to take a gap year before starting college. preparing for a 15% decline in fall enrollment. an estimated $23 billion in lost revenue. let's talk about a lot of us returning to the office. we don't know when that will happen, but some offices are preparing for our return. the head of the real estate the desks further apart and elevators telling people where to stand and plexiglass.
