this afternoon and that will draw in clouds near the coast and slightly cooler weather. all in all, a nice day, absolutely. you can see a few high clouds over there, and over the north bay a few clouds and off the coast, and this is what it looks like from the east bay hills on the cinco de mayo. temperatures are milder this morning. as you head to noon you can see we go to inland, warmer than average. those temperatures by 7:00 back in the mid-50s to mid-60s due to the sea breeze. it's not going to stay around long. we will talk about really warm to hot temperatures coming up in the accuweather 7day forecast. let's get back to the news. businesses are getting ready to possibly re-open as early as friday. the state is going to enter now what is called phase two of the this process. amy hollyfield is live for us at walnut creek this morning on how

this cool play out. >> reporter: good morning, reggie. flower shops are on the list. you see this one here in walnut creek, it has covered up its windows, but could be re-opened as early as friday for curbside pickup just in time for mother's day. others on the lists is clothing stores and book stores, and governor newsom willlll the guidelines on san francisco's mayor says she looks forward to working with the governor on next steps. >> we're really excited about it. we want to see people get back to work, especially, but we want to do so responsibly. >> mayor breed would not confirm whether anybody would be reopening this friday. still a lot of details to be

there are at least 15 children hospitalized with the mysterious illness that could be related to covid-19. this is what officials are warning right now. they say to be on the lookout for the serious syndrome that was first reported last month in europe. they showed symptoms including fever, rash and stomach illness, smilar to a rare condition called kawasaki disease and that can lead to heart problems. >> when the muscle itself is inflamed, injured or weak and their blood vessels are so injured their blurred pressures are low and it leads to where other organs in the body can be severely injured. >> a doctor in new york is currently treating six patients with the syndrome. most children that get covid-19 will not develop this. a new study is looking at how children are contracting covid-19 and if they can spread the virus. i will send it back over to you,

reggie. >> jobina, thank you. a major bay area health care system is performing nonemergency surgeries again. stanford just started rebooking the procedures. >> it's right where the stomach connects to the esophagus. >> after five years of pain. >> i am getting spasms in my back. >> he was booked for hernia surgery on april 1st only to have it canceled along with all other nonemergency procedures across california's health care system and hospitals had to focus all of their research on the coronavirus search, but it never came and so solomon was a call to reschedule. >> i was jumping for joe. just to sit here and laugh and talk with you, there's tremendous pain. >> the stanford department will operate on solomon.

>> and according to the "san francisco chronicle" sz, workers were notified that somebody from the knob hill location tested positive and that employee last worked on april 10th. another tested positiveiveiveive ni ninth street location. the knob hill location did not close for cleaning. police chief in oakland is giving us an update on crime trends since the shelter-in-place went into effect in march. there has been a decrease but the department has seen an up shoot in shootings. there's an increase in the officers for the areas most needed. >> what we are seeing in the uptick has to do with the gangs and group conflicts in our community, and a large part of that, by the way, is outside

members coming into our city. >> the chief also says the department continues to give back to the community by delivering groceries need. helicopters can fly low between 300 and 500 feet while conducting patrols. if additional safety inspections are required our field personnel will maintain the social distancing with six feet of customers and wear personal protection equipment. let's see what is going on weather-wise. down in the south bay we have clear conditions and temperatures in the mid-40s to upper 40s. we have los altos hills at 52 for the mildest spot.

low to mid-50s on both of the bay shores. redwood city the exception. and low to upper 40s up in the north bay. pretty close to yesterday. maybe a couple degrees milder. what caught my eye was the b of a building. looks cool, doesn't it? modera moderate pollen today but strong sunshine. it will be breezy if you are getting some of the yard work finished before it gets too hot starting tomorrow. we end up in the mid and upper 70s by 1:00 to 2:00, and then can you see the sea breeze kick in and drop us down to 66 with increasing clouds by 7:00. for the east bay, 61. low to mid-70s for a couple hours and then the sea breeze kicks in and drops us down to 63 with increasing clouds by 7:00.

recover at his home in d.c. until doctors say it's safe for him to fly back to the bay area. disaigner is also a leukemia survivor. we are hearing from the santa cruz hospital workers getting bonuses thanks to an anonymous gift. >> i don't think anybody could have ever imagined that kind of thank you. >> they say it's an amazing gift, and somebody who wants to remain anonymous donated $1 million to hospital employees. >> from a fund-raising perspective and philanthropy perspective, this is truly a very unique gift. >> full time workers will get an $800 bonus this month, and part time workers will get $400.

that ought to feel fantastic. mid to upper 70s through most of the north bay. santa rosa, 71 and down to 75 in fremont and castro valley. you break out in the low to mid-80s in the east bay neighborhoods. it's clear in morning but look how the clouds march towards us as we head towards lunch. that late afternoon and early evening surge of a sea breeze, that's when it comes in and that's what is going to make us feel a little cool during the evening hours. we will be in the upper 40s to low 50s tomorrow. here's a look at tomorrow afternoon. our hottest days on thursday and friday, and everybody is much more comfortable for mother's day sunday and into monday. have a good one. it's wildfire preparedness week here in california and the fire department says we should all take advantage of being

some upper 70s to low 80s down in the south bay and north bay and low to mid-80s in our inland east bay neighborhoods. many businesses and retail stores are rushing to get ready to re-open. governor newsom is saying the state will enter phase two of the reopening on friday, and it will start with low-risk retail shops, but keep in mind things could happen differently based on where you live. county leaders will have faster or slower reopening rates given the health risk for each area. it's essential we stay at home and social distance to keep covid-19 cases down. in the south bay, images of crowded parking lots and dangerous car stunts are fueling concerns over cinco de mayo. julian glover is live with why

so many neighbors are worried this morning. >> reporter: good morning, kumasi. essentially this is what we do not want to see and that's why there's so much concern about the cinco de mayo and the large crowds that were gathering over the weekend. i want to get to them because it's almost unbelievable. viewers snapped the pictures of a huge crowd in the packed neighborhood near story and king roads on the east side of san jose. people obviously getting a head start on cinco de mayo there. they are shoulder to shoulder with few face masks in sight, and there were out of control drivers in usually what is a peaceful parade of cars. >> that doesn't represent us. you know, the beautiful flag, the beautiful cars, the young, the old, coming together, you know, celebrating a beautiful

day. >> some neighbors there a little upset of what they saw over the weekend. san jose police telling us they have an extensive plan for how to handle the crowds on cinco de mayo involving extra officers but the police chief, eddie garcia, said those officers will not be going into crowds and handing out citations for violating the social distancing health order, and they are asking for those celebrating cinco de mayo are celebrating safely and keeping their distance from folks if you plan to celebrate. >> julian, now. happening today, dozens of rvs are rolling up to that the oakland coliseum to help with the lack of shelter during the pandemic. the city is launching a trailer isolation program to house homeless and medically

vulnerable citizens. happening today, a major step in the race to get coronavirus testing, which is a crucial part of reopening the bay area. sonoma county is opening two testing sites for any resident regardless if they are showing symptoms. unlike many other testing areas, there's no drive through option. you have to get out of your car. appointments are required and they can be made online or over the phone. we have a link on our website, abc7news.com. results are in now in the mission district which has the highest number of coronavirus in the city. in four days they tested nearly 3,000 people. 62 of those people tested positive. of that group 95% were latinos. most of those infected, 90%, reported they were unable to work from home.

drivers and companies with more than 500 employees. new in the south bay this morning some customers are noticing major changes to wendy's because of the issues in their supply chain. jobina fortson is here to explain. >> good morning, kumasi. the fast-food chain is putting up signs on its drive through men use at some of its locations in san jose. check out the video so you can see what is happenig. the signs say, quote, we are currently experiencing interruptions in the supply chain which may affect the availability of certain products. you can see several items have been crossed off the menu and say they are no longer available, and those items include hamburgers, salads and fruits, and some of the kids' men use as well, and it's unclear if this is happening at all wendy locations, and they hope to have everything back and

of fabricated evidence. prosecutors deny any misconduct. and covid is impacting the way some of the parents are serving time. two were set to report to prison this week and the judge says they can wait until june 30th because of concerns over the virus. one boy in utah tried hitting the open road for a long-distance joyride. utah's highway patrol says they saw a 5-year-old, yeah, 5, and he was in his parents' car going about 30 miles per hour on the freeway yesterday, and he said he was angry with his mom for not buying him a lamborghini, and he had $3 on him and was going to buy one here in california. >> the young man was there and sitting on the front edge of the seat so he could reach the the e
