workers, we've had zero revenue for two months now. >> i just want to survive for my family. i have two kids. >> most of the bay area set to allow partial reopening this week. but this morning some are getting desperate. begging to push even further into the process. another weekend showing us some spots that feel back to normal. good morning, everyone. thank you for joining us. we have much to get into the bay area's week ahead but we want to start with the rainy monday morning forecast. here's lisa argen. >> good morning, liz. you can see the cold front flipping to the south and east. it's a weak one but starting out

in the east day from the san ramon valley, pleasanton, very light showers. across the bridge to east palo alto, wet start to the sunday. hills and looking at the actually the north bay that got a overnight. here's the area of low pressure coming in tonight, with scattered showers becoming more wildly scattered today. downpours later on and nice break in the north bay, san rafael partly cloudy, 63 in san jose and nice view here from our exploratorium camera. all of the 60s out there. the moisture-laden air. as we go through the afternoon, you will notice we're partly cloudy and more rain araves for some of you this evening and everyone should get more tonight. we will track it for you in a few minutes. >> thank you, lisa. as we head into a new week, three area counties are moving into phase two, san francisco,

san mateo and marin counties will start the second phase. this is the early stage of phase two. it does not mean dine-in restaurants, shopping malls or schools can open. here's what will be allowed in these three counties starting tomorrow. curbside retail pickup, manufacturing, childcare for those outside of the essential workforce, outdoor museums, car washes, some offices where telework isn't possible. as for the rest of the bay area, alameda and contra costa counties, and some are into phase two. only santa clara county is determining a date for phase two, to keep numbers down in the area's most populous counties. but in parts of san francisco, it looks like things perfect the pandemic. things are picbit, perhaps too much for some at the night at the bars.

welcome back. a massive explosion left multiple firefighters severely injured.

maureen shaw has the latest developments. >> reporter: overnight explosions erupting in downtown los angeles, leaving multiple buildings on fire and several firefighters injured. firefighters on the ground racing to combat the flames. witnesses saying there were multiple blasts as smoke filled a downtown district. >> you walked outside and it was just -- it's unnatural heavy smoke in the air that i honestly could not be.st spadore and more, engines arrived on the scene. >> firefighters were coming out with obvious damage and burns. >> reporter: the blast occurred on boyd street at a smoke and vape shop. with the fire rapidly spreading, they became concerned with structural safety. >> i don't want anything falling on anybody there. >> reporter: the incident was considered a major emergency. ditionalirefight we call a major emergency

has implemented at his practices. >> this is the first time i have used medicine to talk via the video or computer. that is something i have not done before the covid pandemic. >> reporter: there tam is an allergy and imfollowing expert with 30-plus years in his industry. the pandemic is not only pushing him but many doctors in this state to pivot and also look deeply into their financials. how has this pandemic affected your practice financially? >> definitely the volume has decreased by close to 50% and that is not normal. >> reporter: a survey by the care health care foundation found more than a third of primary care doctors in this state are highly concerned about having to close their practice or clinic. >> doctors that were practicing in te smallest practices, five physicians or less in the

clinic, seem to be experiencing the largest challenges. >> reporter: some of the challenges were covid-19 on test and enough ppe. >> 20%, slightly less than 20% of physicians in practices of all sizes report that workers and patients in their clinics are unable to get covid-19 tests right now. >> reporter: dr. tam was not part of this survey, and has been testing some of his patients on this patio for covid-19. he's confidence he will survive this storm and received federal help. >> medicare advanced payment that i will have to pay back at the end of the year. >> reporter: his biggest incentive to remain open open are his patients. >> it's my duty. i have to do that not only for my patients but all of the physicians, we're working as a team. >> private doctors are not only ones facing financial pressures. sutter health reported it lost $1 billion in the first quarter of 2020. in the newsroom, luz pena, abc7

up this week? >> we do. we have some breaks in the rain now but as we look at live doppler 7, an anemic line of the shower activity in the east bay. earlier, san ramon valley and parts of oakland picked up a good amount, anywhere from .10th to half inch to parts of the north bay. union city looking at wet weather. further south back on the peninsula from mountain view, perimeter road, scattered showers. rain now but the colder part of the system will move in later on tomorrow and that's why we have a winter storm warning in effect from late tomorrow, late tonight into tuesday. expecting m feet. the front has moved through. this is the area of low pressure and more vigorous part of the system will come in later on today into your monday. so we'll have the periods of

rain and also some partly cloudy conditions. here's looking at the roof camera. you request s can see winds are light but soggy in santa cruz. and low 60s out in the inner east bay. san rafael scattered clouds but looking nice. there will be more rain to come. scattered showers, breezy and cool and rain sets up later on tonight into the overnight hours. stable atmosphere later and lingering showers into tuesday. keeping it on the weak side, level one system out there for the light scattered showers. some downpours at times but we're looking at the breezy winds and rainfall less than .2 out there. so we already picked up a fair amount in the north bay. but look at where we go hour by hour. notice partly cloudy clue the evening hours checking out more rain and overnight we can see

the brighter returns here. those are the into monday. and then scattered clouds and by monday evening things look quiet but still looking at the lingering system into tuesday. here's the rainfall amounts through tuesday morning, about .10th to .2th and maybe a third in the north bay. and then the system is sinking south and evaporating snowfall in the mountains when the winter storm morning expires by tuesday afternoon. speaking of the sierra, looking at the rain now and snow later, late tuesday we're looking at a couple inches in south bay. maybe ten inches through kirkwood. very warm there right now. we will get that heavy, wet snow. today we'll call it partly to mostly cloudy, scattered showers. we will see more later on today. 70 oakland, 65 napa. look for 71 in san jose, waking up with rain in the 50s

spots we are seeing this weekend. but if you're just joining us, we want to start with the bay area forecast. rainy start to our sunday. >> there is. the rain moved through early and here's what's left of it. first part picked up a quarter to half inch of rain north and east bay. you can still see the rain from around fremont, 680 and 880 down through union city. it's been a little damp for you. further to the south, south end of the bay, 101 and around mountain view and sunnyvale we're looking at wet weather. santa cruz has been wet, highway 1 and rain in the sierra nevada. this will continue to become more widely scatterd. then we will get into the second part of the system that promises maybe a few thunderstorms. you saw that making bit of a lightning strike offshore there. level one system today with the partly cloudy skies will brigen the numbers are mild. a look from the city, it looks

enforce the phase two orders cheered on. that means local law enforcement will stand idle if businesses or churches want to reopen in whatever capacity with their own physical distancing measures. the city's mayor did caution businesses could risk losing their state license. here's an interesting study in the coronavirus battle. researchers in the uk said yesterday they'll be testing whether trained dogs can detect the virus in humans. six very cute little dogs there named the super six made up of lab doors and cocker spaniels will be trained to sniff out coronavirus. they known to chiefrpg body odor and dogs successfully detect malaria, cancer and parkinson's disease. they hope the super six can sniff out the virus before symptoms appear. still ahead on abc7 a ne reat of working from home.

headsets, but we still need to be with each other. >> we value being in the same room with somebody. >> reporter: just where and when is up to you. dion lim, abc news. >> that may be us hanging out with our vr headsets any day now. >> it's very interesting. good morning, everyone. here's a look at what's left of the cold front. move through the north bay early this morning. they picked up maybe quarter inch to half inch. now still looking at light rain from the sam ramon valley through dublin, 80s. you picked up a decent amount here and not over yet. as we head further to the south looking at union city, paradise drive, wet weather. hills of the east bay looking at some scattered showers. down through san jose getting spotty but a lot of dark clouds there and looking at the showers into the santa cruz mountains and also the beach down there but also the rain here in the mountains.

that high base at kirkwood, 7,000 feet and you have snow. but elsewhere is rain. looking at the winter storm warning for the sierra nevada. this appreciapressure system wi south and you can see more lightning strikes, the most unstable part of the system. here's a look at the peninsula at sfo. upper 50s to low 60 in san jose. muggy out there with a lot of moisture in the atmosphere. still rainy conditions here. down around santa cruz and highs just in the low 60s just with the rain coming back later on today, low 60s by the delta. and santa rosa in the upper 50s. it's been mild. dark clouds in san jose to 80. bit of break. second round comes in and that's where we could see some of the downpours, maybe a thunderstorm and then looks like the rain will linger into tuesday. it is a very slow mover.

and pretty weak system at tt. li sours, breezy win, a bonus out there. to get the rain this time of ye year. 11:30, have some breaks but cooler day today. here comes more shower activity. we can see the downpours pretty good through the overnight hours and monday, yes, more rain, more ack side of it. here's when the low drifts down parallel to the coast. that will spin up more showers. between today and tomorrow and early tuesday, .2, .3 in the north bay. maybe .10th around hayward and san mateo getting more rain. here's the low as it continues to drift south. winter storm warning allowing for snow in the upper elevations. and finally by late tuesday, it's out of here but rainfall changing over to snow in the mountains with up to ten inches in kirkwood, 7 inches donner.
