heyo seet' a live lk yonbviously see the windows have been smashed out. we have been watching this happen all night long. it's a different feel from the first night of protests in the city. last night demonstrations turned violent with looting and vandalism and also a shooting near the protest that left a man dead. meanwhile fires erupted at several businesses. witnesses say they were startled by the arsonist. >> the night before we started out with about 8,000 protesters at 38th and chicago. and they were great. they were grachanting for thingo remain peaceful and tonight didn't have that same feel. and that's sad. >> floyd died monday night in police custody and witness video shows a white police officer kneeling on his neck and keeping the other knee there for several

minutes after floyd stopped moving. four officers were fired. the fbi has opened an investigation. the mayor is urging prosecutors to file criminal charges against the officers seen in that video with his knee on floyd's neck and several other protests across the country, including one in l.a. that at one point shut down 101. >> thank you, jobina. we are learning more about the governor's plan to reopen gyms. what needs to happen for them to open their doors within a week or so. julian glover is live with more on this. julian? >> so many of us growing board with those at-home workouts and yesterday we learned the news that we could get back to the gym or yoga studio sooner than many of us originally thought. the news could not come soon enough from gym owners. now a number of gym owners have created the california fitness

alliance. they're focused on helping creating guidelines to reopen fitness centers before they're closed for good. >> we are desperate. we want to get back in the gym. i'm at the point where i may have to close my doors permanently if we can't reopen soon. >> now the i-team has been getting tips about gyms opening up in the bay area current the orders like crossflit pleasanto and space out equipment farther. now, pleasanton pd telling dan noyes to urge that business owner to close and not issuing a single ticket in violation of this health order and the guidance from the state. that's what many gym owners are looking for. the official guidance from the state so they don't get caught in this game.

>> thank you, julian. happening today, a free walk-in coronavirus testing site is reopening in san francisco. the pop-up testing site is located at the tenderloin recreation center near hyde street. they are working with verily the alphabet company. you cthe site is open from 10:0 to 4:00 p.m. and open every day through monday. a san francisco whole foods employee is quarantining at home after testing positive for covid-19. the person works at whole foods and mission local also reports that whole foods is following all the guidelines set by the cdc and san francisco's health department. whole foods also had a deep cleaning performed at this location. unfortunately, the u.s. has reached a grim milestone. this morning more than 100,000 people have died from

solano county barbershops and hair salons can reopen. the county made the announcement yesterday. employees and clients have to wear face coverings. certain salon activities like facials and eyelash services are still prohibited. part of building a better bay area is focused on how our everyday routines are evolving and that involves covid-19 and how our workplaces are going to be different. many people have mixed emotions about getting back to their old routines after months of sheltering in place, but some are excited. some are anxious. >> interactive with my colleagues and lunches and i miss face-to-face with my customers. >> until days of vaccine, no one is fully secure. >> we've got to find a way to live our life with the situation as smartly as we can knowing our

nasa tries again. and we also want to take you on a tour of a san francisco preschool that is set to open on monday. but, first, checking in with my friend mike. i was trying to tell you i was doing well this morning because i slept better it felt a little bit cooler. i can do this, a nice little breeze. how are you? >> i'm doing well, also. i slept a little bit better also and looking forward to turning the ac off and open the windows. it will be even cooler in san francisco tonight. so, those days of hard sleeping or waking up in puddles of dampness we'll say. those are just about over. check out your temperatures this morning compared to 24 hours ago. we're 12 degrees cooler. look at these numbers. 52 to 54 and 55 degrees. yep, that's back where we should be. we still have some 60s but mainly in the south bay. there's some lingering there and a lot of them in the east bay

valleys. everybody else in the 50s. look at that fog along the coast. that means the marine layer is getting thicker and bringing humidity that will hold the temperature down a little bit. cars can still get hot today. no doubt about it. let's be careful, once again. breezier tomorrow when the sea breeze kicks in even faster. look at these temperatures down in the south bay. 83 by noon and down to a nice 75 if you're going for an evening walk. 62 at 8:00 with the fog starting to fade and low 90s for a couple hours and very refreshing and a little breezy 74 at 8:00. east bay valleys, yeah, look at that. mid to upper 8 the asphalt will still be around 120 this afternoon with strong sunshine. we'll talk about even cooler weather tomorrow and an update

you're never more than seven minutes away from your accuweather forecast. >> this is abc7 mornings. >> i wanted to return to the fog rather quickly and show you the winds and where they're going to blow. the fog will spread throughout the coast and spread into parts of the bay and up along 101 in the north bay through about 8:00 they'll start lifting. look at that. nothing says relief like that shot from the exploratorium camera where you can't see the top of the building because the marine layer is back. temperatures still warm 77 to 88 around noon and notice we don't wrm more around the bay and significantly more inland at 75 and barely some 80s at 7:00 and 50s and 60s more towards the coast and san francisco. record highs around fresno 108 and tahoe will be within a degree of a record high at 83. here's a look at the wet weather coming this weekend. eyes more on the north bay than it does the rest of us. we'll talk about that coming up,

kumasi. >> thanks, mike. abc7 news is focusing on several issues including education to build a better bay area. a lot of parents want to know how schools will opep operate once they open back up. >> reporter: last week the preschool in san francisco got the green light to resume operations. in less than a week they were able to comply with all the requirements for a safe reopening this coming monday. here's how staff will operate. >> children will line-up here with their parents and then walk towards the front door. a teacher will stand inside the front door. she will have the thermometer and take the child's temperature and make sure it is within the limits and then the parent will leave and sign in here and leave completely. children will come right inside at that point. >> reporter: this is what awaits them inside. a hula hoop to encourage physical distancing and a box with their own supplies and a tray they will carry around all sanitized at the end of the day. the director of the preschool showed us what one of the classm

ares will look like. >> this will now be half the group. we have taken a lot of furniture and the children in this classroom have their own box and they also have their own tray. >> how many in the classroom? >> there can be no more than ten children. >> reporter: the rest of the class in a different room. partitions are used to separate the yoga room and the overflow of more desks. the playground will also be divided to keep children contained. everyone's temperature will be taken two more times during the day. children are not required to wear masks, but teachers are. i was also curious, you know how little kids love to hug a lot and several times a day. how's that going to work? >> well, the teachers have already been addressing that on zoom with the children and talking about social distancing w t leaer al thi classroom said sprd out theirf y c bit too close. >> reporter: parents must sign a

decade. that's a little bit unfortunately. i don't know what exactly happened. i know florida at any moment, the storms could just kind of pop up. >> the case exactly. they had a round of thunderstorms in the morning and a window opened up between the thunderstorm chances late in the afternoon and evening hours but the clouds never really cleared out and the electricity in the air is also a concern when you're trying to push something that fast through the air, the friction causes more static electricity and all sorts of variables they were looking at and always better to be safe. unfortunately, we're disappointed but still eager to see what happens when they try again. let's talk about what is going on back here at home. i think you're eager to talk about how much cooler it is going to be in many neighborhoods and how much more refreshing around san francisco and the coast and how that will hit all of us tomorrow. for today one final day of dangerous heat and mainly in the east bay where temperatures in the mid to upper 90s in our

inland valleys and cooler weekend and still a chance of comfortable through tuesday and wednesday of next week and then another boost of warmth but nothing like what we don't see anythin like that for several weeks. here's a look at the fogcast. by noon most of ito . cooler greens while the oranges and the reds still take over some of our inland neighborhoods. let's go down to the south bay where we have 83 at sunny vale and deeper and 89 in san jose and 91 at los gatos and then the 84 at redwood city. that's a little more comfortable, isn't it? how about low 60s along the coast and barely 63 in the sunset and lucky to get to 68 in downtown san francisco and 88 in santa rosa and 86 in napa today. we have 73 in berkeley and oakland 74 and a few 80s around castro valley, union city and fremont and a92
