angry crowds are demanding justice after the death of george floyd the unarmed black man that died in police custody. here's a look at what protests look like at this moment. several locations at banks, grocery stores and pharmacies. the protests intensified yesterday after prosecutors said they hadn't decided whether to charge the officer who pressed down on floyd's neck for about eight minutes. last night, protesters set a minneapolis police station on fire as riots continued for the thud straight night. while this precinct burned city officials warn it may be in danger of exploding due to unconfirmed reports of explosive materials inside the building. the minneapolis police department said it evacuated staff for safety reasons and protesters remained. a cnn reporter who was there reporting on the riots. omar jimenez was live on tv when

officers approached him and he could be heard telling police saying his crew would move back to wherever it was safe but officers told him he was under arrest when he asked why, they didn't answer. cnn called the arrest a clear violation of first amendment rights and called on the governor to release the crew immediately. this morning, president trump is receiving some criticism for a late-night tweet about the unrest in minneapolis that caused twitter to flag it for violating rules about glorifying violence. another tweet drew a response from the city's mayor. jobina is at the live desk with the details on this. jobina? >> it's not unusual for president trump to send tweets late at night but this latest one will certainly cause some debate between his supporters and these thugs are dishonoring the

memory of jornl floyd and i won't let that happen. any difficulty and we will assume control. twitter flagged the tweet which is only visible if you click on twitter's flag. in another tweet, the president attacked minneapolis' mayor saying in part, quote, the weak, radical left mayor get his act together and bring the city under control. >> weakness is refusing to take responsibility for your own actions. weakness is pointing your finger at somebody else during a time of crisis. donald trump knows nothing about the strength of minneapolis. we are strong as hell. is this a difficult time period? yes. but you better be sure that we're going to get through this. >> this is the first time

twitter has used its policy about glorifying violence against the president and comes one day after the president signed an executive order. after twitter applied fact checks to two of his tweets about mail-in ballots. kumasi? >> thank you, jobina. here in the bay area protesters held a demonstration in oakland in response to floyd's desk. sky 7 was over the protest yesterday and dozens of people were sitting in the intersection outside of oakland police headquarters. protesters then marched to city hall. oakland libby schaaf called floyd's killing violence. san jose and oakland released a joint statement on floyd's death. it reads in part, quote, we cannot see any law enforcement or self-defense rationale for what occurred. what's depicted in that video is not who we are as law enforcement professionals. san francisco has unveiled it reopening timeline and now we

have the dates for when restaurants, hair salons and churches can resume services. starting on monday, june 1st, child care centers can open back up and botanical gardens and outdoor historical sites and two weeks after that on june 15th is when most of the changes will start to happen. we will see indoor retail, outdoor dining, religious services, professional sporting events without spectators and nonemergency medical appointments like going to the dentist. all of that starts then. so, if everything goes well modified indoor dining can begin and barbershops and hair salons can reopen about a month after that on july 13th. schools, bars and gyms then would reopen some time in august. and today we're expecting even more updates on the timeline from mayor london breed as people react to that and the newer and stricter face mask orders. amy hollyfield is joining us live in san francisco with more on this. good morning. >> hi, good morning, kumasi.

no longer about what you are doing but where you are. even if you are exercising. if you're here on the embarcadero which can get really busy and crowded with exercisers, if you're within 30 feet of someone you have to put on your mask. all about the location of your activity now. any time you are out of your house, you have to wear a mask if you're within 30 feet of people. some runners that we talked to said that probably won't change their activity but probably change where they run. >> personally, i'll probably stay more to the 30 feet rule than wearing a mask. probably have it in my back pocket if i need to put it on. but it will be tough. run a lot and that will probably inhibit a lot of the oxygen flow going through. >> mayor london breed's office expected to announce more details about her order today at 1:00. children under the age of 12 are not required to wear a mask,

that hasn't changed. it does say under this new order if you don't comply, you could be punished by a fine, imprisonment or both. reporting live in san francisco, amy hollyfield, abc7 news. >> thank you, amy. marin county will announce more changes to its stay-at-home order. already marin county announced that summer and sports camps and child care facilities and golf and tennis facilities and outdoor fitness rentals can reopen on june 1st. all businesses will be required to make safety modifications. starting today 91 cvs drive-through pharmacies in california will start conducting coronavirus tests. the testing sites include fremont, hayward, san leandro, vallejo. cvs says its goal is to process 1.5 million tests a week nationwide at no costs to

patients. as parts of california slowly reopen, governor gavin newsom is warning of more economic pain in the weeks ahead. he warns one in four californians could be jobless because of pandemic-driven closures and shutdowns. the state's core industries have all been economically ravaged and tv, film production is still closed and tourism is pretty much nonexistent. the state's wine industry is tallying up mounting losses like honig in rutherford. >> a lot of our sales are to hotels, country clubs and restaurants and those are shut down. we're 50% under where we were last year. >> san diego zoo says it went from selling 5.5 million tickets at its two parks last year to zero in the past few months because of the pandemic. one place that's hiring during this crisis is a state unemployment office. the employment development plans to hire 2,000 temporary staff in

we've made it to friday and through the heat wave. the areas that were still warm yesterday inland neighborhoods up to two to six degrees cooler and no need for the air conditioning any more. look at these mid to u0 few lows around antioch and brentwood but at least not the 70s and 80s we have been waking up to. mid to upper 50s everywhere else. mountain view and also in san jose. under an increasingly cloudy morning thanks to the marine layer of clouds you can see here in san jose where that 60 is under a mostly cloudy sky. low clouds and fog through the morning commute and much breezier than it was yesterday. here's a look at the peninsula. 62 from 8:00 to 75 at 2:00. that's it. to 63 at 8:00 and with the breezes picking up, you might want to grab a light jacket if you're going to get takeout this evening. east bay 59 at 8:00 and down to 64 and blustery. same thing if you're going for

crashed the motorcycle and started banging on the doors looking for the caller. body camera footage showed when officers found him, police say he went into the garage and came out armed with a knife and that's when the suspect was tased and shot. >> he admitted to getting the knife and he apologized and said basically it is his fault. >> the 60-year-old suspect was taken to the hospital and since been released to the santa rita jail. police haven't publicly released his identity. pg&e is one step closer to emerging from bankruptcy brought on from liabilities in deadly wildfires. yesterday state regulators approved the $58 billion reorganization plan. a judge still needs to sign off on it, though. pg&e is trying to meet a june 30th deadline to qualify for a state fund that covers future wildfire costs.

building a better bay area includes adapting to the adapting workplace during the covid-19 pandemic. ten weeks since many offices started letting employees work from home. david louis takes a look at the lessons learned. >> reporter: for many, working from home has turned out well. 77% would like to continue to work from home at least once a week after the pandemic. while only 6% said they wouldn't. there are down sides which companies and employees are considering as they think about moving forward. security is one of them. >> if i am using my computer to log in to my office and then i share with my kid or my wife and she is brousiwsing and she gets virus, that virus could affect the whole network. >> reporter: offering companies a wide range of solutions for remote working. the endles work day in which there is no defined start or end time.

to hurricane season, though. you have to be careful. that's why you get those deals as you head deeper into the summer there. here's a look at what is going on back here at home. nothing like that. we have 54 degrees as we look from our roof camera and low-hanging marine layer clouds. the reason why, it's hot no more today. mostly cloudy and breezy this afternoon. drizzle then rain and then showers overnight through tomorrow. a one on our storm impact scale and still a small chance of some thunderstorms especially across the north bay. so, that's where the heaviest rain is going to be from this area of low pressure that is bearing down on us. it brought us a break in most neighborhoods yesterday and increase the marine layer today and look at the cloud cover that it hurls at us. limited sunshine today, but you'll still need the sunglasses from time to time. by 8:00 we're already starting to see some of the drizzle develop along the marin county coast and then overnight rain turning to showers. moderate showers there. some yellows and oranges and then as we head through the afternoon hours, you can see some yellows and oranges there

from the potential thunderstorms that will have some locally maybe heavier rain but it's not going to be on a widespread scale. as we head into the evening hours, that's it. let's look at the rainfall potential out of this system and as we head into the evening and overnight hours through tomorrow, yeah, we'll get a little rain shadow on the peninsula, the south bay and to the lesser extent the east bay. quarter of inch of rain is possible on the east bay hills and up to quarter to half an inch of rain to the north bay and the half inch of rain more likely in the mountains and the higher elevation. here's a look at our temperatures for today because of the cloud cover. mid to upper 60s half moon bay, san francisco, richmond. low to mid 70s for a lot of the bay and then some 80s in the south bay and east bay. then tonight we'll be back into the mid 50s to low 60s. but don't be surprised if you wake up and it smells like fresh rain outside. here's my accuweather seven-day forecast. even cooler tomorrow once that low passes bring in the coolest of the air for sunday and mostly

welcome back, everyone. united ceo says the airline will not be blocking middle seats on its planes and will use other safety measures to stop the spread of coronavirus. face masks, cleaning and air filtration systems actually work better than trying to social distance. this comes just weeks after this photo of a packed united flight went viral. a ucsf doctor took the picture of his flight to sfo and united said it would limit seating and the airline since changed its policy saying it would notify passengers ahead of time if their flight is fully booked. free samples at costco are making a comeback. costco cfo revealed on an earnings call that those samples are coming back in mid-june. he wouldn't say what it looked
