week. maybe that's where he got it. at long last, charges were filed today against the three policemen who stood by and did nothing as their fellow officer ended george floyd's life. that officer, derek chauvin, has been charged with second-degree murder and second degree manslaughter. the other three were charged with aiding and abetting those charges, which is good news. a long time coming. there have been protests now in all 50 states. and that's a pretty big deal. we can't even get all 50 states onboard for daylight saving time. the whole world has been watching and weighing in. even the chinese government said they hope the u.s. will take "concrete measures" to "eliminate all forms of racial discrimination." when china is giving you a lecture on human rights, that's not a good sign. meanwhile, our president is still getting his bible thumped for that embarrassing photo session at st john's church on monday. the white house today tried to explain why the orange chicken crossed the road. business suit barbie tried to spin it like this.

kid to see santa at the mall. you get the picture? okay, let's get the hell out of here. of course trump can't admit to any mistake. he tweeted people liked my walk to this historic place of worship. who liked it? i'm not sure, people like it. you have a problem when even the 600-year old host of the 700 club is not impressed. >> he said i'm ready to send in military troops if the nation's governors don't work to quell the violence that has rocked american cities. he's spoke of them as being jerks. you just don't do that, mr. president, it just isn't cool. >> jimmy: and he knows cool,'s one of the original muppets. turns out, you know whose idea that walk to the church was? ivanka's. according to the "new york times," trump's chief of staff said it was ivanka's idea.

and as a result, ivanka has been demoted to eric. you don't have to listen to all your kids' suggestions. if we did that at my house, the bathtub would be filled with skittles right now. trump is also trying to refute claims that protesters were attacked by police to make way for trump's walk of shame. the police say they used pepper balls and smoke bombs, not rubber bullets and tear gas to disperse the peaceful protests. right, it's gren-a-do, gren-ah-do. trump has suggested he might enact an old law from 1907 to send in troops. that didn't sit well with esper. >> the option to use active duty forces in a law enforcement role should only be used as a matter of last resort and only in the most urgent and dire of situations. we are not in one of those situations now. i do not support invoking the insurrection act. >> jimmy: and you're fired. i'm glad he spoke up. why would a draft dodger be

allowed to be in charge of the military? it's like a vegan in charge of the barbecue. the president is also said to be fuming about reports that he was taken to an underground bunker during the protests on friday night. so he phones his foxy friend brian kilmeade. who tried very hard to give master an out on this by blaming the secret service. but dodge ald the dense didn't take the hint. >> sometimes the secret service even tells the president, i can't do this. so you're telling me, mr. president, they didn't say to you, you have to go downstairs. my responsibility is your welfare. they didn't limit you at all in the white house? >> no, they said it would be a good time to go take a look. because maybe sometime you're going to need it. >> jimmy: oh, he just went down to take a look because sometime maybe he'll need it. >> i go down two or three times, all for inspection. >> all for inspection. that's why he went down in the middle of a massive protest outside his house. he needed to inspect the place to make sure they stocked enough

horsy sauce in the cupboard. and with all this going on, the president has been tweeting up a storm about what a gift he is to black americans. this morning he wrote, i've done more for black americans than any president in u.s. history with the possible exception of another republican president, the late great abraham lincoln, and it's not even close. lincoln ended slavery. trump thinks it's possible lincoln did more. this would actually be funny if it wasn't at all. so, democracy is gone, but basketball is coming back. espn's reporting that the nba board of governors is going to vote tomorrow on a plan that would restart the season with 22 teams. for eight regular season games. a possible play-in tournament for the eighth seed and the playoffs all taking place in orlando, florida at disney world, and the champions will be whichever team doesn't get the virus. i'm happy about that. i don't know about you, i can't

without the protests. but still, you know, we have officers in louisville who have not been charged for brionna taylor's murder. and there are so many other cases like that, and i'm just convinced that the only way we're going to change is to get out and vote and not just in the presidential elections, but on the local levels. and that means voting every year. so i've just kind of been inspired to start educating myself, speaking to my friends like stephanie janes of the collective. and melina abdullah of black lives matter. giving myself civics education of find out who candidates are, who can actually change policy, because, at the end evof the da i feel like the only way we can makehanges to these systemic problems is to make systematic changes. and that's change the laws and

to change the laws we have to change the lawmakers. so that's where i am right now. >> jimmy: and to change our way of thinking, i think. just in general. is another thing that we obviously have to work on. you know, shaquille o'neill was on the show last night, and i'd asked him about his sons. he's got sons, and i asked him if he had this talk with them where he explains what it means to be a young black man when it comes to dealing with the police, when it comes to dealing with people in general. and i was wondering, you have a son, how old is your son? >> my son is 24. >> jimmy: so have you had thime homes, black homes, it's not just a conversation. it's, it's an ongoing conversation. >> jimmy: ongoing. >> yeah. it never stops. you get to a place, especially when you're, your children are

at an age where, you know, they are looked at as adults, and the anger that they have is, you know, it just compounds. every time something like this happens and another moment that's telling them that they're not worthy. they're not valuable. their lives aren't valuable once they walk outside of the comfort of their homes. you know, the conversation shifts every time. because you have to find a to support their feeling that and make sure that you are let being them know that you hear them andirr same butou don't wanthas gog to put themselves in a situation that they may not come back home. they may note ta talk to you ag

so it's a constant conversation, always. >> jimmy: did your son understand it right away? did he know what you were referring to when you started this conversation with him? or was it a surprise? >> i think he was, you know, our conversations really became more, they were, they got deeper once we were, when obama, when president obama was running for his first term. and the campaigning that i was doing, you know, your kids are seeing what you do, so the passion that i was having behind there, i think that's what was making his comprehension with the conversations deeper then. the and it rea rea rea think, when he learned to drive. and that's when the conversation shifts again, because you kind of have to make them very clear about what they're supposed to do when they're out there in
