dan? >> well, i've spent much of the last 72 hours talking on law enforcement sources and tracking down people who know the suspect very well. >> the fbi is whether steven carrillo, security caught this white van as gunfire erupted. yesterday, someone spotted him in a white van with weapons and bomb making materials. the sheriff's deputies followed him back to his ben lomond house. he bolted in a white sedan, hitting another officer. a female deputy was on hand when it happened. >> just out fire king 27

family? no, you didn't. >> reporter: some saying the church community should have spent on up much sooner. >> all these people that you have gathering now could have been here then and maybe they could be alive. >> reporter: the 22-year-old was shot and killed at a walgreens parking lot on june 2nd. officers were responding to a looting call. the officer was an 18-year-old law enforcement veteran. the police chief was invited to the rally but did not attend. >> we know we have hurting people in the community. we have been marching against police violence for years. >> reporter: away from the marches, the issue of police reform has reached the city as well. california's attorney general making this announcement. the city of virginia lay hoe will look at ways to increase public trust. the city has requested the attorney general's office to launch an independent crimina investigation into the shooting.

>> it's the kind of progress that leaders of this march is looking for. >> we have to demand change. we have to demand transformation. oakland police and the chp are investigating a shooting that left a man dead and put a woman in the hospital. officers say they were conducting a criminal investigation around 10:45 when they opened fire, killing the driver of a car on cherry street. the female passenger was also hit by gunfire. >> shots fired in oakland, 96th and cherry. we don't have much further information. >> it is unclear why officers gab shooting. the woman in the car was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition. to some breaking news, the minneapolis city council this afternoon voted to dismantle the city's police department. nine members voted to move ahead with that p to create a new system of public safety. the vote comes in response to

hundreds of protesters took part in a peaceful rally. about 2:00 p.m., the group was on the broadway street from i-880. the california highway patrol kept them from getting on to the freeway. something we saw happen ten days ago. some of the demonstrators then made their way to lake merit. a few blocks from that protest,

artists and muralists went to work on final street near broadway and painted black lives matter in bold yellow lettering. the art stretches for just about three blocks. similar murals were painted on friday in washington, d.c. in front of the white house. >> there were also protests in san francisco. a large crowd gather in the north beach at the police department central station on vallejo street. a barrier was put up and you could see protesters filling the street holding signs. and this is mill pete as. a large crowd gathered in the city hall parking lot. it was organized by the president of the black student union at mill pete as high school. the mayor called it peaceful and listened to speeches by the students. the "san francisco chronicle" insider and abc7 news contributor phil reports at least 32 people have been arrested for looting last week in san francisco's union square. investigators have lots of video to work with.
