let's go over to the live desk for more. >> good morning. yes, the former minneapolis police officer seen in that viral video with his knee on george floyd's neck is expected to make his first appearance in court this morning. so former officer derek chauvin faces a second-degree murder charge which carries a maximum of 40 years in prison. his charges were upgraded last week and the initial charges remain. it has been two weeks since floyd's death sparked worldwide proetss and we're now starting to see changes to policing policies. the minneapolis city council says that it plans tontle its police department over the next year and divert funding towards a new community based public safety system. >> and we'll create a fear-free future where every life is truly protected and respected. >> the mayor does not agree with the city council. today house democrats are

let's get back to liz for more news. developing news in solano county where evacuations have been lifted for people. the quail fire is burning south of winters and started saturday afternoon. it has burned more than 1800 acres of land. and it is 40% contained. at least three structures have burned. people under mandatory and advisory evacuation orders are being let back in, but officials are checking i.d.s. and at least 32 people have been arrested for looting in san francisco's union square. a team of investigators are using store surveillance videos to identify suspects. the union squarcu cameras. wong cl one clip shows a person dressed as a security guard breaking a window. police say it appears very well

so south bay, 84 in morgan hill, 79 in san jose, 72 at millbrae. and overon the coastal side, we'll have mid to upper 60s and low 70s for downtown, south san francisco, sausalito at 74 and low to mid-80s through the north bay valleys. east bay shore, mid to upper 70s. and then east bay valleys, low to mid-80s, but the breeze will make it feel refreshing outside. and how about mid-40s to mid-50s with that dry air, clear conditions and calm weather. it will be a little cooler tomorrow morning, but look at that rebound into the afternoon hours. low to mid-80s around the bay and some 60ss around the coast. you can see the cooling thursday will bring us back to average friday and saturday but then warmer than average sunday. so this heat wave, we seem to have one every week, is definitely not as robust as the last two we've dealt with. liz. >> thank you, mike. apple is reportedly ready to

let's take a look at what is going on. we'll start with our temperatures tomorrow and you can see some 90s popping up, mid to upper 80s in the south bay and also to the north bay. and 70s starting to take over pans ofe as you start to head towards the south. our hottest day will be wednesday with 80s around the bay, 90s inland. that san francisco temperature, we'll keep an eye on that, that may be a little too low at 74. but the breeze will start to return thursday, they will take over the coast and the bay and then move inland by friday.

we'll take a look at the fire danger coming up next. here is liz with more news. this morning a state of emergency in the southeast, tropical storm cristobal is slamming the gulf coast. the storm made landfall yesterday and immediately reeked havoc winds topping 50 miles an hour, swafrnli inspawning a tor florida. the storm is now weakening as it moves north threatening heavy rains in states as far up as wisconsin. and a $1 million treb has been unearthed in the rockery mountain wilderness. an antiques dealer stashed it in the wilderness and the only clues to its locationwere hidden in a 24 line poem. thousands of people have hunted in vain since then foreare ches four people even died trying find it. this was from 2018.

but a little bit warmer. let's talk about this monday. first we'll start with the fire danger that continues in solano county and parts of the central valley there through 8:00 this evening. winds have calmed down considerably at about 15 miles per hour in fair field and right around the quail fire there, only about 10 miles per hour. so that is good news. plus the temperatures are running in the 50s this morning. so that should help the firefighters.
