rallies for social justice. a student led march that's expected to include warriors coach steve kerr and in alameda, a dance in about to get underway. good evening and thank you so much for joining us tonight. >> it is a busy friday evening indeed, let's get to abc 7 news reporter in san francisco for a aiyot of activity behind you, luz? >> this is the i just want to live rally. let me show you what's happening behind us. we heard from several passionate youth organizers about the need to end systemic racism. we will continue with a march put together with a move from the naacp. in the crowd, we have warriors, cheerleaders, former nfl

players, high school, college stude students. we heard from a passionate 11-year-old who said the first time he experienced racism was when he was in kindergarten, let's listen. >> for me, no matter what i do or achieve, racism is a constant weight. we have constant conversations on racism. my family's top concern and prayer for me is that i make it back home safely, physically, mentally and spiritually. >> the warriors front office and players are expected to join this youth led march through the streets of san francisco. hoping that this movement will eradicate systemic racism. the march will take place from the steps of city hall to the halls of justice. >> stephanie sierra is at

another rally happening right now, this one in support of a man arrested for dancing in the streets, a story you have covered extensively. >> we learned there's a group of 60 people getting ready to protest peacefully by dancing in the middle of the street, it's a mile stretch, and they're going to be ending here at the alameda police department. this is a small group that has already formed here they have the music playing. holding signs here in honor of molly watkins. we did learn molly is going to be here dancing today. very close to where he was handcuffed by those police officers. today's protest is not just about molly, but before all victims of police brutality. demanding real reform. >> people calling on a black

person, just for whatever reason or another. and weaponizing the police. enough is enough. >> amos white works with a special grassroots project of the aclu. >> quite frankly, the community's calling to defund the police in alameda. that means redirecting funds. >> the call for action stems from this body camera footage released last friday. showing molly watkins cuffed and pinned to the ground by five alameda police officers after he was seen dancing in the street. >> it was horrendous, and it really hurt. being a black man, personally hurt knowing this happens here. right where we live. >> but if you ask watkins. >> i'm not angry at all. i wasn't angry then, i'm not angry now. >> he wants to take that anger and focus on reform. >> i'm not upset. there's none of that. it's genuine concern for all of

us. and to make sure everyone is safe going-forward. >> this group is not only demanding to defund the police, calling for restorative justice, can you see it's a small group now. they are calling for all the names of those officers seen in that body camera footage to be released and the complaint history of those officers demanding accountability. and again, we will not know that until that outside investigation which is still pendingry leases those results. >> stephanie, thank you. >> on the heals of protests here, new guidance from the cdc strongly encourages masks in settings where individuals may raise their voices for shouting, chanting or singing. the cdc classified gatherings

19th. a week from today the county will allow more outdoor and indoor retail. outdoor dining and outdoor fitness classes as well as outdoor museums and limited religious services. the man alleged to have ambushed a santa cruz deputy appears in court. his defense attorney saying he suffered a traumatic brain injury. the fight over fresh fish. it's a david and goliath battle at fisherman's wharf. san francisco takes a page from its neighbors.

>> reporter: steven carillo speaking over video conferencing during his arraignment. >> is steven carillo your carilr >> yes, sir. >> he's charged with the murder of sergeant david guts whiler. as well as the attempted murder of four other policemen. >> the initial ambush of the officers was just that, an ambush. this individual then waited. literally came up behind their car. trying to murder both of those. >> neighbors helped take down carillo. >> my client being charged with these heinous offenses. this case is simply the beginning. >> jeffrey stoddard confirmed he was an active duty air force

sergeant. he says was not service related. >> i am not aware of what impact these things may have on the case. simply pointing out that there are more colors to mr. carillo and what his possible motivation and what his involvement is. >> he has expressed sadness over what this has done to the community and families involved. neither stoddard or the district attorney would comment on the district. carillo's arraignment was put over until july. they're still looking into what if any connections carillo may have to other groups. the biggest question of all. >> why would someone do this. >> a hiker is in the hospital for what authorities call traumatic injuries after falling 100 feet down a cliff in san francisco. crews pulled the man to safety around 9:00, more than an hour

after he fell off a steep cliff and became stranded. dozens of firefighters, paramedics helped with that rescue. in menlo park, firefighters fought to rescue a man. the train struck the man while it approached the menlo park station around noon. deputies are working to find out why he was on the tracks. that man remains in the hospital this evening. when times get tough, the differences between us are sometimes more apparent. especially businesses battling for survival. at fisherman's wharf, two crowd favorites have been going head to head. wayne freedman has more. >> what's up? >> on most days the answer would be rockfish an s the last fishermen have try to keep it going. >> since october of 2017. the port of san francisco has

allowed giuseppe to sell fish directly from his boat. now the port has ordered a suspension to that operation for 90 days beginning monday after concerns from a restaurant. >> we're losing money every single day trying to try to keep the doors open. >> the pioneer leases the slip, the restaurant has the right to the parking lot. >> this goes back a couple weeks ago when we couldn't bring people in to pick up the food. >> the restaurant owner says three years ago, he supported the sales operation, now he says these pictures of a crowded it too popular. they want to put outside dining here. >> scoma's has a lease to this area and they need to be able to take care of their business. >> when you have someone who's using your property for free.

a christopher columbus statue outside coit tower has been vandalized again. the statue has been vandalized numerous times in a number of years. columbus statues have been toppled around the country this week. he's a hero in italy, and to

italian americans but he represents oppression to native americans. a sign of the times graces a san francisco street. the effort comes a week after the message was painted on the street in front of the white house. organizers call the action a peaceful protest in an effort to stand up and say enough is enough. >> all lives can't matter until black lives do matter, i'm not just saying that because i'm a black man. i'm saying that because i'm a human man. it's going to take all of us to heal all of us. in order for us to overcome atrocities that happened years ago and seem to still be happening to this day. >> damion says it's no coincidence the words point toward city hall. it's not meant to be an attack on anyone. but a reminder the community is watching and leaders will be held accountable. it is sweater weather

tonight. if you're stepping out to two some outdoor dining, grab the swert or jacket. up to 20 degrees cooler in the inland valleys, the heat is gone. down 8 degrees in san francisco and san jose, as we take a look at the winds. they are just howling. right now, 40 mile an hour winds in movado. 31 in fair field. it's an on shore wind bringing that cooler wind in from the ocean. as we take a look at the hour by hour forecast, it's still going to be gusty, winds will be anywhere from 25 to 30 miles an hour. going into the late night hours, the winds will begin to subside, and tomorrow morning, even though it's going to be breezy, not nearly as windy as what we're experiencing right now. the winds will let up, cold front came through, we're starting to see a mix of sun and clouds. that front triggered thunderstorms to our north and east. and it squeezed out a few showers around the bay area, a couple sprinkles, so far the
