biggest barriers to reopening? >> i think just that customer confidence. we've been encouraging them to promote themselves online. san francisco is back open for business. at least for the indoor retail and some of the outdoor seating, for restaurants. you're familiar with the program announced last week, giving an opportunity for restaurants and retailers to bring their wares out. so fran is gearing back up, very slowly, very carefully. of course we want to be very careful and open back up and start to get the energy back. >> what are some other great ways you might want to mention for people to support their small businesses and neighborhood restaurants? >> yeah. all of us need to support our local businesses. you hear it all the time. shop local. it is so important that we support our brick and mortar stores in san francisco. the curbside business, order from them, takeout, go and visit them. hey, they are just as excited to

of getting the work done and having some time with your kids. i bet a lot of people are spending at least more family time than they used to before a lot of us had to work from home. i think the benefits do outweigh the negatives. i home we keep it in the future, too. i hope there is a hybrid of working from home and in the office. >> that could happen. larry, do you feel more productive? >> i don't know if i'm more productive. but i am grateful to not have to commute and be stuck in traffic, which was really, really bad before all of this started. so the fact that we can even do it in terms of the technology is really impressive to me. i don't have little kids. my kids are grown. i know some of my co-workers that i'm inacting with, they have little ones at home so it is tough at times. i do miss humans. the inaction in the newsroom.

>> what? i never thought they would say that. >> we have each other as humans. >> yes. human inaction is important. more than i realized. to say 2020 has been rough is an understatement. a new survey shows americans have not been this unhappy in nearly 50 years. probably not a surprising conclusion. identifiabling that just 14% of adults are very happy. that's down from 31% who said the same thing in 2018. 50% say they often or sometimes feel isolated. the number it was 23% in 2018. most of the interviews were conducted before the death of george floyd and the protests that followed. what do you think it will take to get us happier? >> i think none of us like change. and this has been such a big

today in the south bay, hundreds of families received food, books and other donations thanks to abc7 and our parent company disney. it was put on with the shop with a cop foundation in silicon valley as well as a number of law enforcement agencies held this morning at mckinley in san jose. 300 families got food for a week and books to keep kids occupied during the summer break.
