around pacifica and half moon bay and drifting around the city. 67 in san jose, 55 on the coast. from mt. tam you can see fingers of fog there. what about that 67 in santa rosa? you know it's going to be a warm day. 71 by the delta. we're already 10 to 12 degrees warmer in our north bay, a little bit of a wind there. temperatures coming up 5 to 10 degrees from yesterday's readings around the bay. we'll still have numbers near 80. at the coast, sea breeze and naturally fog. a beautiful day today although it is a little warmer. we'll talk about much warmer weather in just a few minutes, liz. >> lisa, thank you. developing news out of minneapolis. there was a shooting that happened over police say the 11 injuries are non-life-threatening. the shots broke out in the update commercial district with several bars and restaurants.

one witness describes hearing 30 to 40 shots at once. no one is in custody but more than one person may have been shooting. it may be happening in your neighborhood this weekend. illegal fireworks have been reported across the bay area for weeks now. abc 7 news reporter laura anthony is in the oakland hills with a look at the problem and why it seems more prevalent lately. >> reporter: it's become a regular thing in oakland. san francisco and other bay area cities. fireworks like it's the fourth of july almost every night. >> right now we kind of have this hands-off attitude. >> reporter: this city councilman knows the problem well in the fruitvale neighborhood where he lives. >> 9:00 p.m., it's everybody's time to let it hang loose and shoot up not only fireworks.fir off. eyasto in the at0 p.m., hours before booms i d

istitute. >> as we're standing here right now we're hearing the sounds of fireworks. >> reporter: whether it's shelter, boredom, or the sense that no one will catch them, the 3w0 boldness of those setting off illegal devices is especially concerning, heading into the heart of fire season. but oakland police concede with covid-19 and so much else going on, catching and citing fireworks violators is challenging. >> right now we hear all around us the sounds of firecrackers, fireworks, m-80s. do we know exactly where they're coming from? no. >> i know we're not celebrating fourth of july or father's day because we've donbeen doing thi for months. we have to stop thebehavior. >> reporter: one theory is that with all the sanctioned fireworks events canceled this year some of the product has

made its way onto the open market. the problem has become so bad that the police departments in richmond, el cerrito and san pablo have gotten together and they're hoping they can get the cooperation of the public with a little education. laura anthony, abc 7 news, in oakland. in the south bay, the city of san jose is considering a move to declare racism a public health crisis. two supervisors will present formal declarations to the board on tuesday that supports the black lives matter movement with a goal of eliminating racial inequities. the san jose police department says it was announce a ban on the use of rubber bullets. for the second week in a row, the bay bridge became of site of a matr protest. tharavan took over the upper deck of the bridge and brought traffic to a crawl around 6:00 p.m. last night. this protest was a touch different than last sunday's

protest when walking demonstrators blocked all westbound lanes of the bridge for hours. dueling demonstrations came face-to-face outside the tulsa arena where president trump held his first campaign rally in more than a hundred days. he divijoked about directing hi administration to slow down testing because it leads to many confirmed cases. he says he wanted to slowdown testing. while many of his supporters lined up for days toet in,tu excted which the pon quote, rad protesters. >> the left is trying to do everything they can to stop us, every hour of every day including even violence and mayhem. they'll do anything they can to stop us. we had a bunch of maniacs come and sort of attack our city. the mayor and the governor did a great job. but they were very violent

people. >> meantime there were hundreds of people protesting the president's rally outside the arena throughout the day. the demonstrations were mostly peaceful. now to the push forward in reopening businesses through the coronavirus pandemic. our focus on the economy and the return to work are just two of the ways that we're committed to building a better bay area and our new way of life. more businesses in sonoma county are open this weekend as officials removed many more restrictions. abc 7 news reporter lauren martinez has more. >> reporter: this beach is reopened just in time for summer. on friday the county opened further, opening hotels, short term rentals and zoos. you can now book overnight at safari west. >> we modified our trucks a little bit. you have social distancing markings on the ground which for us happens to be cheetah paws.

outside where business is looking good. in sonoma county, lauren martinez, abc 7 news. a new covid-19 testing site is opening up this week in santa clara county. the san jose sharks' mascot will join city officials. it will be open tuesday through friday and saturday. you do not need an appointment but health insurance or a doctor's note is needed to be tested. now to developing news on the sweep coronavirus outbreaks in u.s. prisons. so far 159 inmates at san quentin have tested positive in the past few weeks. more than 200 people protested outside the prison yesterday demanding california officials do mor to protect the inmates. the outbreak follows 121 inmates arriving from a sickened southern california prison last month. this is not just here in california but the coronavirus

is now surging in several u.s. states and prompting face mask mandates like governor newsom's requirement to wear them in public areas. cases in florida doubled in a week. texas set a one-day record for new cases on friday, with north carolina and arizona also seeing numbers soar. >> reporter: tonight, coronavirus cases surging in the southwest. new infections doubling in florida, hitting a high of more than 4,000 cases today. the governor blaming increased testing. >> the vast majority of the cases that we're seeing right now in the state of florida are with people who are presenting without any symptoms. >> reporter: doctors raising red flags. >> we are seeing more patients in the hospital. there's no question about it. but we're also seeing a higher percent positive on the people being tested. >> reporter: in north carolina, hospitalizations hitting a record high a fifth day in a

democratic nominee former vice president joe biden. turnout for the event was less than expected. there were protests but they were mostly peaceful. here is abc news reporter tai hernandez. >> reporter: protesters who spent the day marching around the bok center met trump supporters leaving the speech. police fired pepper balls to ff was a peaceful day. this was the president's first campaign rally, held despite growing confirmed cases of coronavirus in the u.s. trump believes the rise isn't due to increasing illness but increased testing. >> when you test -- when you do testing to that extent, you're going to find more people. you're going to find more cases. so i said to my people, slow the testing down, please. >> reporter: six members of his advance team including two secret service members testing positive for the virus. the smaller than expected crowds

claimed the president's only strategy is reelection. on tuesday, a federal judge ruled against the justice department's request to block the book's publishing. this past week i got the chance to catch up with martha raddatz ahead of her exclusive interview with bolton tonight. we spoke a day before the judge's ruling. take a listen. thank you so much for joining us. let's start big picture, obviously you've covered politics, national security, for years. have you ever seen anything like this with a national security adviser turning so publicly on a president? >> absolutely not. and that goes to the heart of it, liz, because you've got the highest ranking official i've ever seen, write comprehendi comprehensive book about a sitting president. gates years ago wrote a book about obama but it didn't have nearly as much as this book has in it and certainly not the very, very sharp criticisms of president trump and a sitting president, again. >> and we talk about some of the

exclusive details in the book and in the interview that you did with him, for instance i know he told you the president isn't fit for office. of everything that he told you, what do you think was the most surprising or alarming to >> well, i think basically his charges that president trump did not care about anything but reelection, that he put reelection before the country. but i think also just knowing that john bolton was in the room for all these important national security meetings, from north korea, russia, china, john bolton has been there and listened to the president and his advisers, he's seen it up close. so to hear him describe a president as bizarre and stunningly uninformed and all sorts of adjectives, there were were some jaw-dropping moments in the interview and many more to come. >> and i think that that also brings us to this question of timing. i think there's a lot of questions about why john bolton is speaking out now, why detail

these accusations in a book as opposed to testifying in the impeachment or speaking out during his time in the administration. did he give any explanation? >> he did, he says he thought the impeachment hearings were too narrow or too politicized and he said he didn't think he would make a difference. i challenged him numerous times on that, because what he told us and what is in the book was a missing key, according to the democrats, and that was that he says he heard donald trump tie the security aid to ukraine to the investigations into joe biden and others. the republicans, the white house lawyers, even said no one has claimed that during the impeachment hearing. so whether it would make a difference, we'll never know. he clearly wants to get this book out before the election because he clearly doesn't have faith in the president. >> we're going to wrap up but i just have to ask you, martha, given you the title of the book, "the room where it happened," can we assume that john bolton is a "hamilton" fan? >> i guess he is, i guess he is.

in sports, a spike in coronavirus cases in florida is causing rising concern for many nba players and team executives as well as the league itself as it prepares to resume play in orlando next month. outbreaks are affecting major league baseball training facilities and offseason nfl workouts. abc 7 sports anchor chris alvarez has more in this morning's sports. >> with no access to team facilities, nfl players across the league have been engaging in voluntary workouts privately. those need to stop much like the 49ers one that was held in tennessee earlier this week. two injuries and an unidentified player testing positive for covid came out of the niners private camp. adviser is advising against these workouts that have been held by nfl players recently. espn reports two tampa bay bucs tested positive for covid-19 as well.

breeze and temperatures to be kept in check locally around the bay, not too bad. inland is a different story. by the delta, highs today will be in the low 90s. how about mid-90s on monday. then they hover around 90 all week long and a bit of a spike by the end of the week. no a whole lot of change with the heat, where you would expect. but it's still going to be above average from 6 to 10 degrees above average for our friends in the east bay. south bay will be warm but not as warm as the east bay. the north bay today with a slight north wind. sunshine earlier, into the 90s today in a few spots. as we look at san jose right now, nice and sunny out there, mild with 72 in mountain view, 67 san jose. 64 in oakland. in the city, 58. you can see the mild numbers away from the coast, only 55 half moon bay, a little bit of fog. this is tam, you can see sutro here. the wind up above, 20 to 30 miles an hour. so we certainly have our fair weather maker here with the low cloud deck. it's going to stay with us throughout much of the week. but it will be confined to the

shoreline. 71 didby the delta and petaluma. upper 60s in the east bay, you cool down a little bit. today you'll unless the change, probably noticing it already. on the peninsula, you'll have the sea breeze. you can see the deck of low clouds here. coastal fog, it's already mild out there for some. temperatures rebounding today. hot temperatures inland, allowing for that 35 to 40-degree spread from the coast to our inland valleys. and of course the fog shielded from the heat. but we've got upper level high pressure that's just going to keep the fog right here at the shoreline. this is today. and then into monday, notice marin county, the san mateo coast. it's not going to go away. we'll have that sea breeze. it will be locally breezy when the fog moves in and moves back out throughout the day. elsewhere it's really all about that high pressure ridge that's going to allow for the hot weather all throughout much of the interior. so looking at the excessive heat watch from the national weather service, if you're headed into the sacramento valley, even by

the delta. this will take us not only through monday, tuesday, and wednesday, but all week long. so if you want certainly to get relief from the heat, you know where to go at the coast. but today in the 80s in san jose. so not too bad. 82 in sunny in the north bay, a little bit of spike of heat here from calistoga to napa. in the east bay, it's pleasant from 74 in berkeley to 80 in union city as well as fremont. low 90s for the warmest locations here but some mid-80s towards danville. the accuweather seven-day forecast featuring nice father's day, with temperatures still on the toasty side, though inland. and throughout the workweek we've got the big spread from the 60s at the coast, 80s around the bay, upper 90s inland. and the only change looks like it's going to get even hotter, liz, maybe by friday inland. so it's all about the fog if you
