lucky. >> reporter: he's a lucky guy. joe said after lunch he wanted to take a walk on the golden gate bridge with his daughters. happy father's day. >> thanks, cornell. on our website, check out a slide show or a story on the dad gang working to break stereotypes on abc7news.com. in the east bay, a group of community activists painted the words reparations now on the pavement. one organizer says it would compensate the african american community for slavery. part that means changing how local governments spend taxpayer money. >> ultimately, we're talking about budgets being moral documents and understanding where the city puts the money, talks about where the city's priorities are. we do not need more police on our streets. we need more funding in our

schools. >> one of the people leading today's efforts say the reparations now message covers a street where the ku klux klan held parades 100 years ago. a group of activists called for not just defunding the san francisco police. they urged city leaders to disband the entire department. toz dozens marched. one claims they want mayor london breed to go beyond promising to reform the police department. >> our objective is to disband the police department and rebuild something that actually protects and serves of the citizens, all the citizens of the city and county of san francisco. we're going to make that happen by any means necessary. >> the prsident of the san francisco police officers association lashed out at the calls to disband the department saying, quote, eliminating the police department would be akin to the movie the purge which depicts a society without laws or police.

spoiler alert, it ends with mayhem and chaos. the death of george floyd has fueled a movement that led to the toppling of statues viewed by some as symbols of racism and oppression. san francisco was swept into the discussion over the past few days. first the city removed the statue of christopher columbus from coyote tower. then they pulled down two other statues in golden gate park. they toppled the bust of two others. >> i think part of this is about trying to reflect our understanding today of who makes history. and so i think the public spaces right now aren't fully reflective of the work we've been doing over the last 60 years. >> many southern states have been removing statues associated with the confederacy. san francisco chronicle insider

and abc 7 news contributor phil matier reports san francisco is already getting suggestions on replacements for the columbus statue that was removed. supervisor aaron peskin says it includes nancy pelosi and others to relocating the firefighter statue at washington square. you can read phil matier's columns in the san francisco chronicle every wednesday and sunday. it is a big weekends for sonoma county. it entered another step of reopening. reopening and the economy are things we're focused on as part of our efforts to build a better bay area amid the pandemic. hotels, short-term henls and zoos are permitted to reopen. that includes the beach on the russian river in guerneville and the animal refuge is offering tours with health and safety measures in place. >> we put vinyl in between each seat. you have social distancing markings on the grounds.

president trump took part in one of the first large gatherings since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic and addressed the spread of the disease. this comes as more states are reopening or reporting spikes in confirmed cases. here's the story. >> reporter: president trump

back on the campaign trail holdings the first rally on saturday. >> saved hundreds of thousands of lives. don't get a mention. >> the president's re-election campaign dismissing concerns about holding an event amidst the ongoing pandemic. hours before he arrived in oklahoma, six staff members, including two secret service agents, testing positive for the virus. in addition to taking on rival joe biden and the george floyd protests, the president addressed the increasing number of covid cases. >> you do testing to that extent, you're going to find more people, you're going to find more cases. so i said to my people, slow the testing down, please. they test and they test. we got pplno what's going on. >> peter navarro claims it was a joke. >> president trump said at the rally that he had asked for testing to slow down. >> that was tongue in cheek.

in fremont, the group dads demanding justice organized a skateboarding protest this afternoon calling out racial injustice. skaters paid a visit first to city hall where there was an open mic eye event where they skated against hate. they made their way to skate park in central park for another gathering. wheef had a lot of time on our hands. at american canyon, a high schooler put a lot of effort into winning the people's choice award to competition.

it is rather hot inland. but 66 in oakland. with a bit of a sea breeze. 77 in palo alto. 81 in santa rosa. half moon bay cooler than that at 57. overnight, we'll be tracking that fog moving in from the coastline. tonight is a little cooler of a night compared to last night. thanks to the bigger marine layer coming in tonight. helps to cool us off. into the mid-50s for most of us in the next 12 hours. first thing tomorrow morning, we'll stop the clock at 6:00 a.m. you can see the marine layer is pretty expansive through val vallejo, santa rosa, into the city, burlingame, into san land row into rooakland. by 10:00 a.m., we expect the fog to burn off. it is for that fact. we have a heat advisory that will start at noon tomorrow. this is in effect for solano
