let's take a look at live doppler 7 which is dry. but you can see some of the low clouds along the coast spilling into 101 and the north bay and also parts of the south bay and east bay. so a little more cud cov g.g e happen with your temperatures. 56 to 60, almost exactly where we were yesterday at this time. however, by noon, we'll be a couple degrees warmer away from the coast. and 80 to 90 at 4:00. so drier air will lead to a little bit faster sunshine and slightly warmer temperatures today except for the coast. i hate to do this to you at 5:00 a.m., ruin your dreams, but if you thought that you might be going on a european vacation sometime in 2020, that may not be possible. amy hollyfield is standing by at sfo to tell us why. >> reporter: yeah, apparently we're on a list european union

is considering banning some countries, visitors from some countries from coming this summer. and we're on that list. we checked with a travel expert and he said yeah, no plans to go to europe anytime soon. >> i really don't think that americans will be going just about anywhere for the rest of this year. i mean, we are the epicenter of the pandemic right now. you know, if you are a leader of another country and you are trying to decide which countries should we allow in and this owh ones we shouldn't, you will look at the numbers. >> reporter: yeah, europe has put ushilit they are considering because of how you we've handled the coronavirus. russians and brazilians also will be unlikely in europe this summer. they consider us too risky because we've had so many cases. we have been banned from visiting europe since mid march, but they are looking at reopen willing their borders on july 1

except to us. and an announcement is expected next week. but if you have a trip to europe planned later this summer, if you are wondering if you can make that august wedding possibly, maybe in ireland, there is a pretty good chance that it is not happening. reporting live at sfo, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> thank you age any you we thi. and the coronavirus outbreak at san quentin is showing no signs of slowing. 407 inmates and 47 staff members areh cidd thats more than 10% oe total prison population. according to the department of corrections, san quentin was virus-free up until late may. the marin county health officer says the surge started after inmates were transferred out of prison in chino where there was an outbreak to san quentin about three weeks ago. the health department wasn't

informed until after the fact and the prison doesn't have the capacity to care for hundreds of sick patients. >> the concern that we would be potentially using beds in our hospitals that would otherwise be available for our own community. >> dr. willis says that there are nine covid patients in marin's three hospitals which have a total of 420 beds. so right now he doesn't see an imminent threat to the community. in the east bay, we're learning at least 15 people have died from covid-19 at the is sa miguel nursing home in concord. the chronicle is also reporting 75 people connected to this facility have been infected. 45 infected patients are still at the facility and statewide nursing homes have accounted for more than 40% of covid-19 deaths. the nation e nation's top health officials are wrarniarning of a

surge. there is a rise of hospitalizations in at least 21 states. here is alex presha. >> right now the next couple weeks are critical. >> reporter: top doctors warning congress that they are preparing for a possible coronavirus resurgence. >> we're seeing a disturbing surge of infections. >> this fall and winter will be difficult and we need to be prepared for it. >> reporter: their assessment backed by troubling numbers, hospitalizations are rising in 21 states. and the right of positive cases is rising in 23. texas hit a record tuesday, nearly 5500 cases. governor abbott who resisted issuing a stay-at-home order now says home is the safest place to be. cases have surged in florida too. the governor is blaming ov overcrowded bars and restaurants for the state's recent uptick. >> it is packed to the rafters. that is just cut and dry and not answer innocent mistake. >> reporter: and in washington, hospitals are running short on staff.

kentucky literally had to fight their way in for the right tovo. so many voters in line were upset when doors closed last night. they pounded on the doors until election officials let them in. there was actually an injunction filed so that the hours of the polling locations could be extended. most counties in kentucky only had broken poone polling locati people were concerned about voter suppression. the secretary of state says people had plenty of opportunity to vet. >> kentucky is a national success story. we gave people 15 days of early voting, absentee voting. and that worked. so the lines inside are not lines at all, they are very manageable. >> there was high voter turnout for this primary. the secretary of state says that they normally get about 20%

participation. he says over 30% this yr participated. baseball is back, a deal is in place for players to get to work next week. the players agreed to show up for what the mlb is showing spring training 2.0. that will be next wednesday july 1. a majority of teams will train at their home ballparks and then they will travel for the 60 game season which starts around july 24th. but teams will only play opponents in their geographical area. mlb says that players, coaches and support staff will be tested for covid-19 every other day among other precautions. who is happy? mike nicco? >> i'm happy that they are playing. but they are still not hiring. so there is a certain person in the nicco household who still hasn't gotten a job in baseballe. why it seems like this

te players have agreed to show up next week for what the mlb is calling spring training and then a 60 game season whether start around july 24. players and staff will be tested for covid-19 every other day. south lake tahoe police are urging witnesses to come forward after a black doll was found with a string around its neck hanging near power lines. utility workers removed it yesterday. detectives do not consider to be a hate crime, but a hateful incident and they want to identify the people who are responsible. graffiti in pacifica is being investigated as a hate crime. the police department released these messages in red paint. they were found in multiple locations monday night and tuesday morning. investigators believe all of the graffiti was done by the same person. crews worked throughout the day to remove it. in the south bay, the santa clara county board of

today through 10:00 friday for the heat advisory. look at those mid to upper 90s in cloverdale and clear lake friday. friday is the last day 90s in fairfield, antioch and 60s to 80s around the bay. you can see the heat starting to break saturday, especially the closer you are to the bay and the coast. and there you go, it is completely gone sunday. stanford is taking steps to block more students and staff members members from an email from equity prime mortgage. it boasted that they only loan money toeoe. it also went to several other colleges. >> it is not clear at this point what the whole point of it is, just to be hateful, to hack servers through it.

couple degrees warmer which puts us into the mid to upper 60s coast into san francisco. 82 palo alto. south bay to north bay, near 90. and mid to upper 90s in the east bay valleys. two more days of heat coming before a break this weekend, that is coming up in the accuweather 7 day forecast. happening today, oakland unified will vote on a measure to eliminate its school police force. supporters have a popular voice joining them in the push to make this happen. julian glover is live with more on this. >> reporter: we're talking about steve kerr. good morning. after extensive pushback from the community following the death of george floyd and heavy debate by the school sdwrinkt, it looks like today the school district could finally vote and pass the george floyd resolution that would dismantle the police department within the schools. ousd is one of the only school districts in the bay area where

its own police force, ten officers and 50 unarmed security guards, it kansas citys the city $6 million a year. activists have been very vocal in their calls to end the schools police department. leading protests like this one we saw tuesday night where warriors head coach steve kerr joined in. >> we have too listen have to l people, they are the ones who know each other and understand what is happening and how they can make some progress with their lives. >> reporter: so where are they on this? at the school board meeting two weeks agos the sups the superin shared how they could transition as to a police free schools by december, redirecting funds to social workers and restorative justice coordinators instead. and it looks like school board members are beginning to evolve

in their thinking as well. at least two who voted against eliminating three osu duchlt police positions earlier this year say they are now in support of the superintendent's plan for dismantling the police department all together. we'll see what happens at 5:30 tonight when they meet. i'm julian glover, abc 7 news. oakland is not the only district that is considering this, the san francisco unified school drikts deci district decided to cut ties with the police department. and there is a petition focussing in san jose for the east side high school district to cut ties with san jose police there. the reason the state attorney general's reason is not going to conduct an independent investigation into a fatal officer-involved shooting in valle vallejo, after sean monterrosa was shot, the city unanimously voted to have the criminal vessel straighted to the

attorney general's office. christian abrams says that the office declined that invitation. state officials tell the iteam abrams did not provide information indicating that her officer wasn't capable of conducting a thorough and fair review. the ag's office is undertaking a comprehensive review of the vallejo police department's policing policies and practices. a louisville police officer has been officially fired for his role in the shooting death of brianonna taylor. officer hankinson blindly fired 10 rounds into taylor's apartment while she hawas sleeping. and the no-knock warrant will now be banned in louisville. reopening is causing a worrisome rise in covid-19 cases and hospital lagss beingizatizat santa clara county. yesterday they reported 122 cases.

and according to dr. sarah cody, that is the largest -- second largest number of cases reported in a single day since the pandemic began. >> once covid transmission begins to accelerate, it is very difficult to contain and slow down. >> as businesses continue to open their doors, she confirms there seems to be an increase in positive cases at workplaces. recent work site investigations found sites reporting at least one case of covid-19. hospitals across the bay area are preparing for an influx of covid-19 patients at the e.r. and the icu. abc 7 news spoke with officials at stanford hospital who say that they have gotten practice dealing with covid-19 over the past few months. so now there are standardized guidelines for treatment. >> we've had a number of months

police agencies and found there are no cions being issued for not wearing oakland, concord, san jose and berkeley all said they have thus far issued zero cry tagitations havinging for voluntary compliance. at the live desk, there is a "new york times" poll that was released this morning showing former vice president joe biden ahead of president trump by 14 points if the election were held today. we're pulling up you the graphic here so you can see the results for yourself. 50% are registered voters said that they would vote for biden, 36% trump, and 14% said other. biden has an advantage among women and minority voters. the poll also found that biden is gaining favor with traditionally republican leaning groups which are disappointed with the trump administration's response to covid-19. more than 1300 registered voters

aaron zelensky's prepared remarks that says that i was told that the acting u.s. attorney for the district of cl columbia was under pressure to cut stone a break. he said that he was toold that shea was afraid of president trump and the white house responded that his allegations are based on his own interpretation of events and hearsay at best, not firsthand knowledge. stone was convicted of lying to congress. and zelensky and his team recommended 7 to 9 years. stone was ultimately sentenced to 3 years. the fbi says that noose found hanging in bubba wallace's garage was not a hate crime. video evidence revealed that the noose had been there since last october. the reason was used to pull down the garage door. wallace is the only black driver at nascar's top level and he was
