allegations from the police ni, eryone.s saturday, june 27t. we're going to get to that story plus the latest on the positive just a moment, but first let's start with a quick look at the weather. >> hey, liz. it's the last weekend of june and we're going to follow that cool and breezy trend that we've been on. looking at live doppler 7 right now can you make out the fog in the north bay, it's down in the peninsula as well. 2 1/2 mile visibility. petaluma as well. no problems. it's nice. walnut creek clear. it's going to be nice today until later on when the winds kick up. 60 in oakland and this is look at san jose where it's clear. 52 santa rosa with 56 by the delta, and a little bit of breeze coming your way later on today. our roof camera you can see the pride flag there. as we go through the morning more sunshine, but as we continue through the afternoon the winds kick up, and we'll see temperatures in the 80s in our

inland valleys and just about 80 around the bay, so certainly cooler out there. numbers coming down even more so below average for your sunday. we'll detail that and a look at july in just a few minutes. >> thanks, lisa. this morning we're keeping an eye on a brush fire burning overnight in an a remote area of brentwood. it's called the deer fire. crews say it was contained add 20 acres just before midnight. firefighters say they were on the scene into the early morning mopping up any remaining hot spots. no evacuation warnings were given. >> there is no place in our police department or our union for racists or bigots. >> and more developing news this morning. several active and retired san jose police officers are accused of participating in a closed facebook page full of racist posts. the police union has already taken several actions in response including a plan to expel any officer involved. >> i say this to anyone who participated. the san jose police officers

association will provide you no shelter, no protection. >> the union and department have now provided many specifics on the facebook group or the post. in a statement san jose police chief eddie garcia says he has no control over retired employees, but added quote any current employee involved in bigoted online will be investigated and held to the fullest extent in my power. the department has a complicated history with incidents like this. in 2016 a san jose officer made mensissi m menacing tweets about the black lives matter movement. mayor sanlocardo r currtlhae t ns cal for a full investigation. all right orb onto the coronavirus front where happening today it's the last day you can get tested for covid-19 for free at the home of

the san jose sharks. santa clara county and the sharks have run this walk up test site all this last week. you can just walk in and take the quick test regardless of your immigration status, by the way. you'll even get a free piece of sharks gear and a chance at a sharks jersey. the site opens today at 9:00 a.m. in the road to reopening bay area schools so many parents are wondering about the specific changes in their districts to keep their children safe in the classroom. san francisco unified is setting up a series of q&a sessions to give some answers. this virtual town hall will be from july 6 9. th where the district is at with different learning scenarios for the fall. the state will schools to screen students and staff for any required symptoms and practice physical distancing inside and outside the classroom. in our efforts to build a better bay area we are focusing much of our energy on the reopening plans and in a surprise about face stran is now hitting the

brakes. it was just monday the city announced more businesses would be able to reopen. the plans were contingent on state approval received thursday, and yesterday friday mayor london breed announced the plans are going to be back on hold. abc 7 news reporter kate larson explains what's behind the new turn around. >> when you look at the data there's never really been a time when we've seen that lechbl of a surge since arch. >> san francisco has organized key indicators into four categories, green, yellow, orange and red. most indicators including hospitalization and testing rates are in the greenwich means the city is meeting its target. however, in the past twoeeks thavage new cases per day has gone from a flat yellow to orange to more vertically approaching red. san francisco public health director dr. grant colefax

explains what that means. >> especially when we're red we need to consider pausing. >> reporter: so friday mayor breed paused the re-openings of an museums. bethany jackson owns posh hair salon on philmore street. when mayor breed announced salons could reopen two weeks earlier than originally scheduled she scrambled to get her staff ready. >> now we're just uncertain. city are in the same position. >> we were ready to open but we cannot now. >> all the staff are ready to go back to work and all the customer call us to book for the whole week already. >> reporter: they have plexiglass barriers up at every station and are ready to open. they're frustrated that their customers can travel to other counties to get beauty services but mayor breed won't let them

open. >> where are they going? >> san mateo. i don't know the mayor she wait for what, why she don't etus reopen. >> with the percentage of positive test results more than doubling over the past week dr. colefax said they will be watching very closely to see whether that corresponds with an increase in hospitalizations 2 to 3 weeks from now. in the newsroom i'm kate larson, abc 7 news. and san francisco's delayed reopening more businesses also means the zoo won't welcome visitors back next week as mayor london breed announced thursday. health officials consider the zoo to be an indoor attraction even though most of the exhibits are outdoors. abc 7 news reporter luce pena spoke to health experts there to find out why. >> reporter: contra costa county on a covid state watch list.

asking for the county to intervene. >> backtrack in things that are open, closing service industries such as ours where you touch people, we shouldn't be touching each other right now. it's not safe no matter how much you're sanitizing. >> reporter: other business owners say they're readyet ur. afa. >> rorloly monitoring this data and says they'll announce a decision about the reopening time line on monday. luce pena, abc 7 news. and in the north bay marin county has also put reopening on hold for a few industries. hotels, gym and personal services including tattoo shops and nail salons will now all have to wait some more time before they can reopen. indoor dining, hair salons and campgrounds, those can still reopen next week. also in marin quintan where there's been a surge of covid-19 cases. the state now plans to transfer an undisclosed number of inmates

to the central valley. officials say that will create more space for physical distancing and health care treatment. the inmates are being tested before and after the transfer. we spoke to a woman whose son is on death row, and although he will remain there it the idea of transfers is making all inmates nervous. >> it's just a domino effect. that's my main concern that the healthy people that are supposed to be transferred will not be healthy when they get there or they will become unhealthy while they are there. >> it's thought a transfer of inmates from chino to san quintan is what sparked the outbreak there this week. 540 inmates, almost 550 inmates currently have covid-19. 80 staff members have tested positive. a nursin home hit hard by covid-19 as well. so far 100 residents and 32 staff members have been infected

at millbrae skill care. the chronicle report inspector discovered patient care problems in january. medicare also fined the facility $43,000 for unsanitary conditions in 2018. and in the sary cosa sarah cody is hinting she's about to make health orders. >> i anticipate issuing orders that will mark the end of our specific strategy and the beginning of a new face where many activities will begin to resume with the appropriate risk reduction measures in place. >> some businesses have been allowed to reopen and only outdoor dining is allowed in santa clara county. it's been moving at the slowest pace when it comes to reopening the economy. it's one of 15 on the states watch list. one of the hardest hit counties in california is imperial county in southern california. the positivity rate which is the

percentage rate who tested positive for coronavirus out of those tested in the past two weeks there is 23%. by comparison statewide the positivity average is 5.3%. imperial county is east of san diego along the mexico and arizona borders and governor newsom is urging the county to shutdown or he says he will get involved. >> we are advising and counseling them to move forward and reinstitute the stay at home order, but they will move at their discretion. if they are not able to come to some consensus i am committed to intervening. >> about 175,000 people live in imperial county. its health department has reported more than 5,800 confirmed coronavirus cases. all right, we know it's hard to keep track of what is open and what is closed so we have made an interactive map for you. it has each of the bay area's nine counties where you can go in and see in advance what businesses are allowed to operate and where.

all right, in the east bay the family of steven taylor is demanding action. taylor was shot and killed by a police officer inside a san leandro wal-mart back in april. and taylor's family says that officer needs to be held >> reporter: steven taylor, his family is fighting to keep him on the mind. >> i am sad, my heart hurts that we have to go through this too much down the road. too much. ng.still haven't gotten his we still haven't gotten the call from the department. >> reporter: so they took their demands to police headquarters. body cam footage from april 18th shows the moments before an officer fired at 33-year-old taylor. he's seen here holding a baseball bat inside a local wal-mart. >> they claim my son had mental

illness -- but the way that our police should be reformed is to help people with illnesses. >> reporter: family members say he wasn't a danger, and they want the officer whoaccoe. they commi a c th murdere grandomodbe y'd in jail. you wouldn't be walking around going home to your family. >> reporter: pd says the officer who shot taylor is still on administrative leave. the second responding officer is back to full duty. their names have not yet been released. >> the officers have received some death threats against them, their families, and we just want to make sure those threats are frivolous in nature and don't pose any credibility before the names are released. >> reporter: lieutenant ted out to the attorney as general office for an independent review. it's pride weekend and san francisco city hall is lit up blue, white and pink for

of delay that fire season because we certainly could have been done better in the rain department this past year. and you can see nothing but the gray sky there from the golden gate bridge. as we look at live doppler 7 the low cloud deck has been generous. anywhere from 1,200 to 2,000 feet this entire week and the winds that worked to actually dry things out at least they went from an onshore component from the moist pacific, but they will be slightly northerly and any wind we get does dry things out. as we look to the north this signature cloud it's actually an area of low pressure and this is going to allow for more wind coming our way especially for our sunday. there's a look at all the clouds. kind of pretty isn't it with the low deck extending into the east bay. concord and livermore are looking at a clear start. it is 56 in san francisco, 60 in oakland. low 60s in mountain view, san jose, and 50s on the coast. here's a look at the shark tank,

nice way to start the day and temperatures will be in the 80s today so very pleasant there on the warm side but not too warm in the santa clara valley. 57 in napa, lots of clouds and fog up towards petaluma, 52 with a gray start in santa rosa. gusty winds for the weekend and developing today and pick up again and increase for your sunday. that aloas things to dry out and the fire danger increases but a summer pattern with some warmth inland not too extreme returning for the first week of july. here's a look that fog. into the east bay the peninsula. as we get to the 9:00 hour clearing the north bay, by 11:00 we've got a little bit of sun here in san francisco. it's going to hang out at the coast. but as that front to the north gets closer it will sweep away the cloud deck, and we'll get some mid-level clouds as well. as we look towards the afternoon, 10:00 winds not a

factor. but as we get towards 2:00, they're picking up. you can see the colors through the delta there. also through san francisco a little breezy there with the li valley. we could see winds up to about 50 miles an hour. today pretty nice with upper 80s for you in our inland valleys. it's been hot and cooling just a little bit each day. 87 in concord, 70 in oakland. windy later today in san francisco, looking at monday with numbers returning to near 90 inland but nothing too extreme. little change on tuesday and we're in that typical range as we start july. the winds with us, keeping it breezy into monday for elevated fire danger and then as we look towards the end of the week first week of july looks kind of nice. we'll sort of settle into that pattern we're used to around here with that fog clearing back each day.

relief. >> the real heat was to the east of us, the sacramento valley. now that is gone. in fact, no advisories there so they're going to enjoy lots of cooler weather. but behind us, wow, tiz the season for the fog that's for sure. it is dense because we have that shallow layer. it all clears back retreating to the coast. not all. we will see some fog there at the shoreline by about 11:00, but that has been typical as of late as has the winds. southwesterly winds build as a system to the north of us moves overhead, that's going to allow for not only a breezy saturday, how about a windy sunday and cooler on top. so we're talking even low 80s in our inland valleys. that's below average for the second half of the weekend. exploratorium camera it's gray here in the city and depending where you are in san francy yes but around here we saw a little bit of sun outside our studios,

july, so that probably means fog for the fourth. as we look at your winds early morning not an issue. 2:00 we definitely see an increase here. anywhere from 20 to 25 miles an hour in the city, and look at the east bay. ies we get into the evening 20 to 30 mile an hour winds. they're coming up out of the south. and then as we get to your sunday waking up probably not much fog certainly because with all that wind it'll mix out anything that we have and disrupting that marine layer, bringing the winds back in full force for your sunday. 80 in san jose, 77 sunnyvale. 62 and windy for san francisco. up in the north bay it's going to be nice. how about mid and upper 70s. east bay, union city, 78. 75 castro valley. heading inland we're cooler today by about 60 degrees for concord and livermore, upper 80s. the winds pick up today as the sun comes out the coolest day tomorrow, we will rebound on monday settling into that

typical pattern as we get to the fourth. liz, that's your name. sorry. >> thanks, lisa. it's early. all right, many people are trying to find positive ways to make a difference right now. one oakland dance instructor wanted to do something so she organized a hip hop protest where adults, kids and seniors came together to dance for equality. >> dance is an incredible healing art. it's cross cultural, it's unifying. when people dance together you just get a sense that they're leaving their problems behind and they're happy, they're joyous. with all this inequality being brought to the forefront i really wanted to do something more, and it occurred to me that what i do is dance so we organized a hip hop class out here on the cul-de-sac and had about 17 people all wearing signs, white silence equals white consent and black lives

matter and a great success, and we're going to do it more. >> i thought it was an amazing idea and something we've never done before, new way for me to protest and i'm all for i'm excited to get the word out. hopefully we have more people join us and we make it bigger. >> when i first saw the slogan, white silence equals white consent, it's like i woke up and wondered if my silence was part of the problem. why not protest and say black lives matter and make more awareness that, you know, as white people we should not be quiet. hip hop is something so popular we would use that as a means to be able to protest in that way. so i enrolled my hip hop teache some neighbors and friends to come. little kids and adults and seniors all dancing in the

79 in fremont, 67 in richmond. anywhere from 5 to 7 degrees cooler inland and even extending into the sacramento valley. that heat has been erased but it's replaced with the gray sky and gusty winds arriving not only later on today but overnight and looking at highs, check it out only lower 80s and that's out by the delta where you have that funneling effect so not only is it breezy, but below average. and get into monday the temperatures rebound, but not a great thing when the winds are going to be breezy out of the north temporarily. we will increase the numbers holding to a summertime pattern which brings us back to the upper 70s around it bay, low 90s inland and low 60s at the coast. so stabling to a nice july workweek. >> sounds good. we hope you all have a great pride and thanks for joining us here on abc 7 mornings. abc 7 news continues at
