a more aggressive approach today in the state's fight to control the coronavirus. california is ordering some businesses to close after they've just reopened. >> we begin with one decision today by the governor that's impacting two main issues. in an effort to build a better bay area, we are talking about the economy and our health. he is ordering all bars to shut down in the following counties. take a look. fresno, imperial, kern, kings, los angeles, san joaquin and toler. the mandate of closures are in counties that have been on the state's coronavirus watch list for more than two weeks. governor newsom says this step is critical to limit the spread of the virus in counties that are seeing the biggest increases.

>> two bay area counties are e ones where the governor is recommending bar closures. those are contra costa, santa clara, riverside, sacrament san bernardino, santa barbara and ventura counties. contra costa was considering reopening bars on wednesday while bars are still closed in santa clara county, where health officials say they'll list reopenings this week. the state says it's recommending those counties keep their bars closed. a case of bad behavior at a bar opened in san matteo county. the scene was captured on video and cornell bernard is in belmont live. you talked to employees at at aa james restaurant and pub. >> it's an unbelieve story and employs here are still very one set about what happened. believe it or not, a bar ternd was coughed on by a customer who

refused to wear a mask. >> just yep set fiemupset peopl telling her she had to play by rules. >> this is the unruling customer they hope to identify. bartender misha says a disturbing incident happened on the same day they got the okay the start serving indoors. masks and social distancing required. >> this lady kept on hugging people at the bar and not wearing a mask. >> his co-worker behind the bar asked the woman to comply. >> miss, please put your mask on. >> watch as cameras captured what happened next. the woman leans in and appears to cough directly in the face of the bartender who steps back in shock and disbelief. >> it was a very disgusting act on a couple of different levels. >> misha was standing feet away. he tells her to leave. she does, but not before a parting shot, giving them the middle finger and knocking down

a bar stool. the general manager kept believe the video. >> it's not nice to do that to somebody like he was just trying to enforce the guideline and she would just refuse to follow it. >> earlier this month, a woman was caught on camera accused of intentionally coughing on a child at a san jose yogurt land in a dispute over social distancing. employees haven't filed a police report. they say it's not their intention to have the uneyred woman arrested or cited, only to know what she did is unacceptable. >> i think that if she reflects on this, then maybe she can realize that she should be better. >> so some new developments here in the last 30 minutes. managers say belmont police were not called, but they showed up. they spoke with the bartender briefly and said they plan to follow up sometime this week. by the way, that bartender is doing okay tonight. >> thanks.

in addition to the governor's orders, some bay area counties are adjusting their reopening plans due to the coronavirus case spike. san francisco has depllayed reopening salons, outdoor bars and museums including the san francisco zoo. they were originally set to get back to business tomorrow. marin county also put tomorrow's reopenings on hold for a few businesses, hotels and gyms including tattoo shops and nail salons. while officials are expected to make an announcement tomorrow on whether they'll pause any reopenings. in the north bay, inmates family members protested outside san quentin demanding the state take more steps to stop the spread of covid-19 in prisons across california. organizers of the rally say san quentin has had at least 600 cases of covid-19. some of those are linked to 121 inmates who were transferred to san quentin from a southern california prison within a large outbreak. >> we want them to number one,

stop all the transfers. anywhere in the state. and number two, we'd like them to you know, be able to release individuals that should be released. >> some marin county residents fear that san quentin staff members could unflknowingly sprd the disease to people who live here the prison. santa clara county residents just heard first heard how they can help in the fight against covid-19. the city's top attorney shared insights turg a telephone town hall. >> the risk in the county is still pretty low, but not zero. as long as it's not zero, it can go up at any minute so we have to know that. we have to know this virus is out there. >> i want folks to know businesses have those protocols in place and that people are following those protocols around sanitation, around distancing, the other best practices.

>> santa clara county's chief health officer expects to issue a new order in the coming week and it may allow more activities to resume. >> for a full interactive map of what's opened and closed in the county where you live, you can head to our website. it will also show you the date each county plans to have it reopened. you can find it at abc7news.com. santa cruz say a man who was beaten viciously at a motel this morning was the victim of an unprovoked hate crime. police say this man, cody chavez, from san jose, yelled racial epithets when he attacked the 46-year-old victim from jamaica. the man is hurt, but will be okay. more fallout now from the arrest of a black man in alameda who was dancing in the street. it's a story the abc 7 news i team has been following for several weeks. you see the man get taken to the ground by five officers then

handcuffed. the city council is holding a special meeting tomorrow night to go over police policies and antiracism training. the government who investigators say went on a deadly shooting rampage at a walmart distribution center had been fired from his job there. he has been identified as louis lane from redding. he was shot and killed by officers yesterday shortly after the attack in red bluff, just south of redding. investigators say one employee was killed and four others injured. the sheriff says lane was fired from the center last year for fail iing to show up for his shift. today, the u.s. department of justice is join iing the investigation. >> parts of the north bay will be under a high fire danger warning starting in just a few hours. you're looking live at the view from our san rafael camera. the concern is gusty winds. drew has specifics now about a red flag warning.

drew. >> yeah eric, it is windy now, but the winds currently, they are on shore. they're keeping our humidity levels up now. over the next few hours, the winds are going to shift to a more offshore direction off the north and northwest. close o the midnight tonight. that is going to drag in some very dry air over the next several hours. the red flag warning will go into effect at 10:00 p.m. tonight. the first of the season and you can see it's in the north bay and mainly in the higher elevation in our hills above 1,000 feet, but still, we will all feel these fierce winds that will gust over 30 miles per hour at times. we're going to go hour by hour, show you those wind speeds, especially in the north bay, a and when they will calm down in the full accuweather forecast in just a few minutes, guys. >> sounds good. thanks. just ahead, the celebration may look a little different but the message is needed now more than ever. ♪

november election. that flag was first adopted in 1894 and is the last in the united states to feature the confederate battle emblem. in the east bay, the oakland lbgtq community center is picking up the pieces this pride weekend after somebody smashed off the center's windows yesterday morning. the center has raised more than $4,000 during a facebook fund-raiser to pay for repairs. witnesses got a description of the vandal. there's no word yet on an arrest. while pride might not be quite the celebration it normally is, people are still finding ways to mark the 50th year of the san francisco event. itwas a colorful procession in the streets today in what organizers called the people's march and celebration of the lgbtq community, but an acknowledgment of the black l e lives matter movement that has taken off because of george floyd now. we have to be in the streets

now. this is the revolution that's going to change us. if we don't do the work now, if we don't change now, this is never going to happen. when have you seen black and brown and white and others marching hand in hand in a pandemic? >> this march started near knob hill and made its way to the civic for center for a rally. this year's pride events include d free coronavirus testing. organizers of theest test iing y they made it available in solidarity with demands for equal access to health care for queer and trans people of color. the testing took place at children's day school in san francisco until 2:00 this afternoon. renegade.bio helped make the testing available. the queer owned and operated team of scientists and community organizers formed in march to provide testing in response to the pandemic. san francisco wrapped up its virtual pride celebration today. ♪ to replace the usual parade and other events, entertainment has

starbucks is the latest to pause advertising on facebook over their failures to remove hate speech. they say they are holding internal discussions with media partners and civil rights organizations on how to stop spread of such speech. civil rights groups have organized a boycott following racial inequality follow iing t death of george floyd. now other corporate giants have announced similar boycotts. coca-cola will pause ads for 30 days. hershey's ben & jerry's and levies have also joined. so have uni leaver and patgonia. if you bank with chase you may have noticed an error in your accounts. they posted nationwide on social immediate qua about incorrect account balances including wrong charges and lost funds. in a tweet today, chase blamed it on a technical issue and said

off the ocean water. so it is adding humidity into our atmosphere so the air is not too dry right now. the it is gusty from hayward to concord to fairfield near 30 miles per hour and san matteo at 31. and those winds have kept temperatures on the cool side. look at this. only 69 in san ramon. 69 in palo alto. 79 in 1navato. 69 in san francisco. it's all about the winds over the next couple of hours. once is sun goes down, the winds are going to shift out of the north and northwest and that is going to drag in that drier air and we really focus on the north bay. by 11:00 p.m. tonight, the most active winds. pretty windy. outside of the north bay, it's really not that windy. you can see from san francisco, oakland, points to the south and to san jose, the winds are light, but we expect them to stay active in the north bay on monday and early monday morning is when we expect the winds to be fastest.

gusting well over 30 miles per hour at times. combine that with very dry air. look at the relative humidity levels by tomorrow afternoon. 4:00. from fairfield to napa to lake barisa, we have relative humidity levels in the teens. that's some very dry air. for that fact the red fag warning goes into effect at 10:00 p.m. tonight through 8:00 p.m. tomorrow night for areas shaded in red. essentially elevations of up to about 1,000 feet in the forth north bay. overnight tonight, we'll track those winds. numbers will be in the 50s. highs on your monday, t a warmer day. look at that. in the 70s and 80s with our hottest spots in the 90s. accuweath accuweath accuweather seven-day, it's a steady pattern of fog to sunshine starting on thursday. that does continue into the holiday next weekend on saturday, but none the less, after this high fire, tomorrow, guy, really the winds calm down, no intense heat. we'll be tracking this wind for

we have some incredible video of the italian coast guard rescuing a sperm whale from a fishing net. >> yeah, the it's pretty incredible. you can see two divers using knives to cut the massive net off the whale. it took them at least two hours before they could free the trapped animal. the whale appeared to be unhurt as it swam away and joined up with three other whales nearby. a happy whale of a tale.
