i'm dion lim. >> i'm eric thomas. neighbors came out in alameda to try to clean up the car. they also began a go fund me and chalked kind messages on the sidewalk. we reached out to alameda police. we have not heard back yet. it is not clear if this incident is related to one in oakland. a black man woke up this morning to find all lives matter spray painted on his house. his family has lived there dating back to the 1970s. abc 7 reporter has the story. >> it was like my family's home. and for me to wake up and see it attacks in this type of manner, like, it definitely hurts. and it's definitely upsetting. >> this young man, josh, didn't want to show his face, is still trying to figure out why his oakland home was tagged with graffiti early sunday morning. >> if this was your house, you'd probably be just as surprised and just as upset and confused because it's like why? >> all lives matter. there were some cartoons or i

don't even know what it was. >> josh's neighbor helped paint over the graffiti this afternoon. some of the graffiti includes slurs against police. josh says he supports all lives matter but that it's not okay to protest by spray painting his house. >> there are other ways and peaceful ways to do it, just like black lives matter is doing now. so follow suit, instead of retaliating. they want us to lash out and everything. no, i'm n lash out. >> oh block away, josh's neighbors came out to show support for the family. >> i think it's terrible and a clear indication of where we headed now. >> families came out, banging on pots and pans, lining up on a street with black lives matter sprayed down the middle. >> why do we have to live with this kind of stuff right now? just chill and just understand that we don't want to hurt you. we just want to live with you. they don't understand that.

>> josh says he filed a police report. some residents want it investigated as a hate crime. >> it's still heartwarming, and it's definitely uplifting knowing no one's going to stand for this, especially in this neighborhood, in oakland. we don't have time for this. >> oakland police did not respond to request for comment. abc 7 news. >> martinez police are looking for whoever left racist, paint-filled flyers in the city's downtown area last night. investigators say the flyers threatened harm to black lives matter supporters. the flyers were distributed in the name of an organization called white pride worldwide. police call the incident a hate crime. and detectives are working around the clock. >> the victim of an unprovoked hate crime. police say this man, cody

yelled racial epithets. the man was hurt but he'll be okay. chavez faces civil rights violation and resisting arrest charges. >> as part of our efforts to build a better bay area amid this coronavirus pandemic, we are focused on several different facets of recovery. tonight, we're talking about the economy and your health. today, governor gavin newsom dealt a blow to some bar owners. he is ordering all bars to shut down in the following counties. fresno, imperial, kern, king, los angeles, san joaquin, and tulare. counties that have been on the state's coronavirus watchlist for more than two weeks. >> two bay-area counties are among those where the governor's recommending closures. those are contra costa, sa sacramento, santa clara, barbara, and sirventura countie. jr.

>> well, eric and dion, bars are currently closed in santa clara county. and today, in contra costa county, specifically walnut creek, we found that some bars are open outside. this week, though, we are expected to be given new reopening dates. but the governor's recommendations today, could change those dates. >> i think it's a little ridiculous. >> patrons responding to governor gavin newsom's recommendations. contra costa and santa clara counties close their bars. >> either, we're going to make some real decisions or not do it at all. but going back and forth is just ridiculous. >> but bay area doctors we talked to from sanford and ucsf agree that there is reason to be concerned right now. >> we've seen impressive spikes of cases here over the last few dys. and it's not all about san quentin. and it's not all about nursing homes. this is true community transmission. >> we do know from the outbreaks that we've had, here, in the

u.s., clearly, the indoor environment is the major one where transmission occurs. >> and it's those indoor bars that have so many in the medical field worried. in walnut creek, dan's irish sports is closed inside but open outside. doctors we spoke with, though, say it's the indoor bar or even restaurant environments that they are concerned about. >> particularly, in the indoor environment that these small particles can be suspended in the air for quite some time. so, again, that's the real big concern. >> governor newsom's statement he released today on bars. he said, in these environments, alcohol con tucsumption reduces inhibition and impairs judgment. leads to less mask wearing and less social distancing. jr stone,abc 7 news.

>> jr, thank you for the report. now, in addition to the governor's orders, some bay-area counties are adjusting their reopening plans due to a coronavirus case spike. san francisco delayed opening several businesses, including salons, outdoor bars, and museums. marin county also put on hold tattoo shops and nail salons. while contra costa county officials are expected to make announcement tomorrow on whether they will pause any reopenings. >> for a full interactive map of what's open and what's closed in the county where you live, you can head to our website. it will, also, show you the date each county plans to have it reopened. you can find it all at abc news.com. >> to the peninsula now se o badehior at a bar in san mateo county. the scene was captured on video

and abc 7 reporter cornell bernard has our story. >> she was just upset that people were telling her she had to play by the rules. >> this is the unruly customer employees at the restaurant and pub hope to identify. bartender misha said a disturbing incident happened recently, on the same day they got the okay to start serving indoors. masks and social distancing, required. >> this lady kept on hugging people at the bar. and not wearing a mask. >> misha's co-worker behind the bar asked the woman to comply. >> miss, please, put your mask on. >> watch as surveillance cameras captured what happened next. the woman leans in and appears to cough directly in the face of the bartender, who steps back in shock and disbelief. >> it was a very disgusting act. on a couple different levels. >> misha was standing just feet away. he quickly told the woman to leave. she does but not before a parting shot. giving bartenders the middle finger.

then, knocking down a barstool. before heading out the door. >> something like that is just so unacceptable. >> general manager bobby martinez cannot believe the video. >> it's not nice to do that to somebody. she just refused to follow it. >> earlier this month, a woman was caught on camera, accused of intentionally coughing on a child at a san jose yogurt land in a dispute over social distancing. employees haven't filed a police report. they say it's not their intention to have the unidentified woman arrested or cited. only to know what she did is unacceptable. >> i think if she reflects on this, maybe, she can realize she can be better. >> no one remembered seeing the woman in the bar before, and they haven't seen her since. some new developments. the manager says belmont police were here today. they spoke with staff about the incident. they plan to follow up this week. by the way, the bartender who was involved in the incident is doing okay. in belmont, cornell bernard, abc

7 news. t d-flag warning for parts of the north bay over night. today, fire crews were out cutting back brush. meteorologist drew tuma joining us now with the forecast. talking more about that wind. drew. >> yeah, dion, we're tracking those gusty winds and lowering humidity overnight, tonight, and into the day tomorrow. so we have a red-flag warning that is now in effect for much of the north. essentially, in the hills of the north. about a thousand feet. until 8:00 p.m. tomorrow. we're tracking winds coming out of the north. they are developing as we speak right now. and they'll likely gust over 30 miles per hour, at times. that's going to drag in some dry air, drop humidity levels, any fires that could potentially start could spread quickly. so we'll go hour by hour and look at these winds in just a few minutes. >> all right, drew. see you then. thanks. still ahead on abc 7 news at 11. it's not onlyalorstruggling to

>> while pride might not be quite the celebration it usually is, people are still finding ways to mark the 50th year of the san francisco event. san francisco city hall is lit up in rainbow lights right now. there was a colorful procession in what organizers called the people's march and rally. not only was it a celebration of the lgbtq community, but a direct acknowledgment of the black lives matter movement that has taken off following the death of george floyd. >> we have to be in the streets now. this is the time that's going to change. riohat's going to change us. if we do not do the work now, we don't change now, this is never going to happen. when have you seen black and brown and white and others, marching hand in hand, in a pandemic? >> the march started near knob hill and made its way to civic center for a rally. >> san francisco wrapped up its virtual pride celebration today. ♪ bright copper kettles

>> to replace the usual parade and other events, entertainment has moved online this year, with a series of musical guests. today included an appearance by celebrity grand marshal w kamal bell. usually, one of the largest in the country. >> all right. we are watching the winds carefully because of the high fire danger. drew tuma's been monitoring the forecast for us. >> yeah, eric. and those winds are pretty active today. they were onshore, keeping us on the cool side today. now, those winds are shifting tonight. they're more out of the north. and that's a dryer wind for us. and that's why it's going to drop our humidity, especially in the north bay overnight tonight. and those winds will remain pretty active the next 24 hours. tonight, live doppler 7, along with satellite, we've pretty much lost our marine layer. it's evaporated along the coast. and that's because those dryer winds that are setting up that is drying out our atmosphere, as we speak. numbers, we have fallen into the 50s and 60s.

56 in the city right now. we are down 60 in concord. and 57 that current temperature in livermore. winds close to the coast have really backed off from where they were earlier today. however, we still have an active wind in the north bay and through the delta right now. anywhere from about 10 to 15 miles per hour and likely going to strengthen over the infenext couple hours. in fact, if we go into a little higher elevation, st. helena gusting to 20 miles per hour. atlas peak. diablo. again, will be out of the north, draining in that dryer air overnight tonight. so future tracker wind gusts. let's track those winds for you. again, the focus of concern for that fire danger tonight is really in the north bay, where we'll have those strongest winds. you look at areas outside the bay like oakland, san jose, san

francisco, do remain pretty light tonight through tomorrow. but calistoga from napa to fairfield and will likely see frequent gusts early tomorrow morning. this is 7:00 a.m. on monday morning, between 20 and 35 miles per hour. and those winds, again, will drop our humidity levels. look at this. relative humidity as we get into the afternoon on monday by 3:00, you can see very dry humidity from fairfield to napa. those levels are in the teens. so you combine that with the gusty winds and that's why we had that red-flag warning now in effect. the first of the season. this will last until 8:00 p.m., tomorrow evening. so it's a pretty provilonged period today. winds out of the north, gusting over 30 miles per hour at times. combination of that low humidity we talked about. that means any fires that could start could easily spread. so something we're going to keep our eyes on very closely tonight and through the day tomorrow. talking about mainly lows in the

mid-50s. 55 in concord. but again, the big issue is those winds. what you will notice tomorrow, the winds will bring in some warmer air as well. so tomorrow will be a warmer afternoon, compared to today. we'll hit about 70 in the city. 78 in oakland. 83 in san jose. so the seven-day forecast. high fire danger tomorrow. the winds relax into the early morning hours on tuesday. so the fire danger is alleviated, thankfully. and then, it's a pretty nice pattern. no intense heat and we'll track morning fog to sunshine through the upcoming holiday weekend. meteorologist mike miguel will be tracking those overnight and have first thing tomorrow morning at 4:30 a.m. guys. >> much appreciated. drew, thanks. >> still ahead on abc 7 news at 11. the music director of the san francisco

this is that he was mistakenly included in the in memoriam tribute during tonight's b.e.t. award show. the producers were likely honoring the late nfl hall of fame quarterback willie brown, instead. the former oakland raider died last year. hundreds of friends of mayor brown have been calling in to check up on him tonight. they tell us brown is getting a kick out of this one. well, a creative legend who's been part of the fabric of the bay-area music scene for the last quarter century is retiring this weekend. michael tilson thomas is stepping down as music director of the san francisco symphony. >> thomas, or mtt, as he is called, has become synonymous with the sf symphony. he was composer, who was known as a maverick, unafraid to break from tradition and experiment.

on its flag. many believe it sends out a racist message, in a state where 38% of the population identifies as being black. >> because you do have the right to free speech, you can fly what ever flag you want. all we did today is say this is no longer, officially represents all the people of the state of mississippi. >> a commission will design a new flag for mississippi, and it must feature the words, in god we trust. mississippi voters will then decide to approve the new design in the november election. -l gunman who investigators y went on a deadly shooting rampage at a walmart distribution center had been fired from his job there. he's been identified as lewis lane of redding. investigators say one employee was killed. four others were wounded. the sheriff says lane was fired from the center last year for failing to show up for his shift. today, the department of justice, the u.s. department of justice, is joining the investigation. >> joseph deangelo is expected

to plead guilty tomorrow to being the notorious golden state killer. the 74-year-old former police officer will plead guilty to 26 criminal charges. stemming from 13 murders and rapes that terrorized the state in the '70s and '80s. prosecutors have agreed not to seek the death penalty, in exchange for the guilty plea. his plea will happen inside the spacious sacramento state university ballroom for social distancing. he will wear a clear mask so families of his victims can see him. >> because of the coronavirus pandemic, court procedures are changing, not just for high-profile cases, but for most court proceedings. even traffic court. 7 on your side's been looking into how these changes will directly affect you. >> courtroom dramas change but the courts, themselves, rarely. the courts work pretty much the same during the patty herrst trial in 1975 as they did during the o.j. simpson trial in 1995.

and how they were operating this year, right up until the pandemic struck. jack newton is ceo of cleo, a legal software company. >> we're seeing what i describe as five or ten years of change, in the legal profession, happen in five or ten months. >> sweeping changes in the alameda county courts have been shepherded by presiding judge tara decatel. >> right now, we are, in fact, operating across all case types. the difference is we're doing it remotely. >> many work meetings are going online. maybe you've participated on zoom. now, courts are, too. >> it's a huge change. it's a huge, huge transition. security is, of course, the paramount concern. but the bottom line is the job of the courts is to be we are in these kinds of crisis and difficult periods. >> i checked in with the county's traffic court and got permission to record. so don't let that red-letter

selected this week by judge desatel. >> a court in singapore has sentenced a man to death. the death sentence was handed down via the video-teleconferencing app zoom. >> so, it's happening now. but when the pandemic ends, will this court experiment end with it? >> we've all been surprised. we've been surprised that when we've been forced to work differently, we can actually not just muddle through. we can often improve upon our old ways. >> i'm michael finney, 7 on your side. >> covid-19 has now sickened more than 10 million people across the globe since it first emerged at the end of last year. and the disease has killed more than a half million people. texas is rolling back some of the reopening of parts of its economy. that follows a spike in covid-19 cases and icus are nearing capacity across the state. vice president mike pence visited texas today to talk

about what can be done to slow the pandemic. >> part of our guidance, guidelines, to open up america. again, encourage people to wear facial coverings where social distancing was not possible. >> we know, now, there is scientific evidence that masks, both, keep you from infecting others. but may, also, partially protect you from getting infected. i think that's a new discovery. >> cases have, also, surged in florida. that state has banned bars from selling alcohol. two south florida counties have closed their beaches. >> starbucks and spirit's company santori both announced today they will pause advertising on social media. all of this, part of a growing backlash against companies like facebook over online hate speech. analysts say companies not only want to take a stand, they are also looking out for their own brands. >> we can't control what's going on facebook. they don't seem to be able to control it either. and the facebook employees don't seem to like what's going on, in

a taco stand owner has closed both of his locations in los angeles after, quote, constant conflicts with customers who refuse to wear masks while ordering food. hugo's tacos said it would, quote, take a break and recharge after workers were harassed and even called names. some unruly guests threw objects and liquids at workers. hugo's closed after offering takeout only service, due to the pandemic. >> i think, for every business, it's been hard the last three months. but, for us, the fear of the employees to come to work because they're afraid -- whatd- to expect from other people.

effect. this, until 8:00 p.m. tomorrow evening. we'll track those winds out of the north. it's a dry wind. so it will lower our humidity. it will gust over 30 miles per hour, at times. so that combination means any fires that potentially start, could spread rapidly under those conditions. so we will keep our eye very closely on those winds overnight and tomorrow. overnight, we're talking lows in the 50s. the big story, again, is that it is windy in the north bay with that red flag warning. it will drop our humidity levels tomorrow. but will also increase our temperature. so it will be a warmer afternoon compared to today. 70 in the city. 78 in oakland. 83 in san jose. near 90 in santa rosa. tomorrow, that red flag warning. the winds, rather, they will relax tomorrow night into early tuesday morning. that will lessen the fire danger. and then, it's a pretty nice pattern. we will see morning fog to afternoon sun in the high school d holiday weekend. maxing out in the upper 80s to
