tested positive for covid-19. >> taking his temperature, only doing it every three days he was saying. it's like they don't care, not giving him cleaning supplies, letting him take showers, he's using bar soap to wash his walls. >> reporter: cases exploded, 29% of the inmates and staff have tested possible. california department says that i gave inmates masks, are monitoring sanitation and hygiene and modified showering schedules for more distancing and disinfecting. san quentin started setting up tents for medical triage and housing space. >> virus moves more quickly than our response. >> reporter: marin county expects next ten days. >> 200 people may require

new positive cases today. highest number since the pandemic hed 75% last two weeks and positivity rate gone from 4% to 6%. >> our research has not shown this rise is specific to large gatherings like protests. what we're really finding is spread across the community. >> county was expecting to reopen indoor restaurant dining, gyms, museums and hotels wednesday but plans have been put on hold. alameda county is also pausing planned reopening because of rising case counts and hospitalizations there. public health officials are especially worried about the outbreak at san quentin and how it might impact the east bay. will no longer ask the state to move ahead with reopening plans. tomorrow's supervisor meeting.
