cases spike this week. i mean, it is -- people are over it. let's talk about what is going on weather-wise and we'll get back to that topic. here is a look at live doppler 7. the thickest marine layer clouds and most widespread are over the ocean, but we do have a few clouds along the east bay shore and in the north bay and along the peninsula coast also. nothing too thick right now, but you can definitely see the haze in the air. we'll be in the 60s along the coast. 71 to 77 as the breezes kick in before noon keeping us 73 to 84. so up to 10 degrees cooler than yesterday. happening now, evacuations in place for parts of santa clara county as a fire continues to burn near gilroy. so this is the affected area of the crews road near oak spring circle. flames broke out yesterday

afternoon and quickly grew out of control. at least 1500 acres have already burned and that fire is only 15% contained. mandatory evacuation orders are in effect for people along canada road and highway 152. evacuation center is set up at the gilroy senior center. and no more indoor dining in marin county at least for the next three weeks. it is all because of worsening covid-19 conditions. the economy including coronavirus related openings and closings is something that we're following closely as part of our evident to build a better bay area. and liz kreutz is live for us this morning. >> reporter: it is so disappointing for restaurants right now, but you can't say that you didn't expect it. these restaurants knew that if cases did not go down that there would be rollbacks to this reopening and that is exactly what we are now seeing.

i'm outside this restaurant, an italian restaurant, where just last week we were here as they reopened their door to indoor diners. but now no more. the county is saying for at least the next three weeks, no more diners can be inside restaurants. 77% of cases here are amonglati 16% of the county's population. and so as for restaurants, the mandate is effective immediately today for the next three weeks at least. the county at least says the state department of health is putting together strike teams that will be making sure that restaurants and businesses are now in compliance.

liz kreutz, abc 7 news. and in santa clara county, they won't be entering the next phase of reopening. the state is not allowing it. and this plan would have allowed small gatherings and reopenings more businesses like gyms, hair salons and nail salons. but yoi outdoor dodoor dining is still . and nearly 240 scientists have published an open letter to the world health organization arguing that the coronavirus is airborne. the experts worn that tiny droplets from your mouth or nose can linger in the air and penetrate your lungs. the world health organization has refused to say that viral particles floating indoors are infectious. the agency maintains that r research is inconclusive. scientists want them to revise how they explain air transmission of thisirus. and the fourth of

so the winds are a concern for firefighters. and there is also another fire burning near the anderson reservoir. evacuation orders from the park fire were lifted last night. the fire has burned about 350 acres, it is 70% contained. and investigators are welcoming to figure out if fireworks may have sparked the fire. and there is an air quality alert because of the fires. happening today, governor newsom will be giving an update on the coronavirus response. we'll bring to you live on abc 7 news at noon and the abc7news.. so today's update is just a day after a large group protested outside of the oaks. protesters are demanding action be taken inside state prisons

where more than 2400 inmates and 500 workers have tested positive for covid-19. 25 inmates at california's prisons have died including two from san quentin last week. it is unclear if newsom will address the issue at the noon update. and sonoma county is in danger of being added to the watch list because of a surge in covid-19 cases. 92 people tested positive for the virus between friday and saturday and that is the largest number that they have seen in the 24 hour period since the start of the pandemic. ending up on that watch list would force health leaders to roll back some of the recent openings like camp grounds, gyms and hotels. and they are considering the possibility of citing people who don't wear face coverings. >> so if you are coming to sonoma county, if you are entering in to store, bring your veominancial consequencese may if you don't.

>> she says the county still needs to figure out who would hand out the citations. at the live desk, police in rochester are investigating why a statue of frederick douglass was taken down from its base. police found the statue thrown over a fence at the park. the act of vandalism comes on the 168th anniversary of the speech titled what to the slave is the fourth of july. >> what comes from this? what good is this? is this some kind of retaliation because of the national fervor over confederate monuments right now? very disappointing. it is beyond disappointing. >> and the statue was one of 13 placed throughout the city in 2018 and this is the second monument to be vandalized. they hope to get a replacement

soon. authorities are trying to identify the people who pulled down the statue of sera at the state capital. they tried to light it on fire and wrapped it with tow straps and tore it down be. mistreatment of native americans has become a flash point for protesters. the highway patrol is investigatings incident as vandalism and chp officers patrol the capitol grounds. and happening today, a suspect in the disappearance and murder of vanessa guillen will be in court for the first time. back to jobina. >> and sicily aguilar is accused of helping to dismember and hide guillen's body. what we're learning is that investigators say a second suspect in the case aaron robinson took his own life after being identified as a suspect. guillen disappeared in april.

her remains were found late last month 20 miles from the base. aguilar is the estranged wife of a former soldier and she told investigators that guillen saw a picture of her on robinson's phone and threatened to report him for edadultery which is crime in the military. but guillen's family says that robinson was sexually harassing guillen. >> that is not like vanessa to want to report someone for having an affair, but we believe that she probably was telling him that she would report him about the sexual harassment. >> investigators found no evidence that guillen was sexually harassed. her family is calling for a congressional investigation into how this case was handled. major league baseball may finally have the answer today to a big question on the minds of players and fans. >> and right now we're taking a live look at the big board, the new york stock exchange this
