the zoo get the green light. >> we're so thrilled that we got so much support from alameda county and the state turned it around within 24 hours. >> you probably remember the zoo was facing the possibility of permanently closing because they didn't have enough money. only the outdoor areas of the zoo will be open and there are additional safety precautions in place. >> you will be outdoors and with just your family group and you will briefly pass people. if you add on to that masks and social distancing, it will be a very safe environment. >> the zoo will open to the general public on wednesday july 29. starting today, san mateo county will allow in-person visits to long term care homes. each facility has to apply for permission and they have to verify that they have enough ppe on hand and adequate access to coronavirus testing. under these guidelines, friends and family can do socially

hour. >> reporter: and they consider themsz lu themselves lucky, the pop-up location requires no appoint, doctor's note or even symptoms. and results should be available in two to four days. in many other parts of california, it is a different story. >> some of the backlog is not in all of the sites where people get tested. they are mostly in the commercial labs that are being used by the state. >> reporter: the state has now issued guidelines on who should get tested first, prioritizing cases in hospitals and essential workers because of the backlog at labs. in santa clara county, there are pop-up sites in high risk locations but not working in coordination with the state. >> a lot of our response has been really patchwork and i think that it comes from the top. >> we're all competing for the same materials and the same reagents. what would have been nice three or four months ago is to say this is a national problem. >> reporter: for those at the site where 500 tests are available a day, they are just happy that they could get one, even if it means standing in

on outside. it was a little hazy yesterday and you may see more haze in the bay area today. in fact, we have two wildfires burning to our south in the central valley, firefighters are working hard to get a handle on the bigger minute ram fire in fresno county. it is only 15% contained. the coyote fire blackened 1400 about 20% contained. so you can see tough terrain for those folks to be fighting that. let's take a look and show you what is going on outside at sfo. not too hazy right now. we're under an air quality advisory, that means locally the air quality could be really bad because of the fires, but in general we'll be moderate. so we'll be healthy today. but this air quality advisory will go through at least tomorrow. let's take a look at temperatures. we're in the upper 50s to low
