vandalizing our downtown give us donald trump the images he wants. oaklanders need to know when they attended protests after dark, they might be providing core for agitators who are more intent on stoking civil unrest than advancing racial justice. >> protests last night was ugly. the vandalism is ugly. >> this oakland native believes the actions of some distract from the black lives matter movement. >> this is a bad image for the city of oakland this. doesn't bring floyd back. this is damage for the city of oakland, period. >> oakland police say they made several arrests but did not give details on charges. in oakland, cornell barnard, ab in seattle police arrested 45 people. seattle police said protests threw large rocks, bottles, fireworks, and other explosives, injuring 21 officers. in los angeles violence broke out between police and demonstrators there.

three protesters for injured. in portland, protesters breached a fence surrounding the city's federal courthouse building. police there declared a riot. turning to the coronavirus pandemic and another county being monitored by the state. santa cruz county was added saturday to the list. that means if cases don't drop in three days, it will have to roll back its reopening and close indoor businesses. the number of confirmed cases in california is down significantly with more than 8,200 cases. there were over 10,000 yesterday. the seven-day positivity rate also went down to 7.8%, which is back under the state's threshold of 8%. more than 145,000 americans have now died from covid-19. this is the fifth consecutive day where there have been more than 1,000 deaths as states struggle to keep up with the benefits package set to expire. >> for the fifth straight day in the u.s., more than 1,000 people

have died from covid-19 daily. according to the covid tracking project. the number of cases of the virus on the rise in 37 states, puerto rico, and washington, d.c. d dr. deborah birx spoke with wsyx with advice on how to employee the spread. >> we're asking them not to go bars, wash their hands, and do not social gather with large groups of people. >> california with most cases of the virus. >> our obsessive is to kill this virus, a shelter-in-place is difficult. but it is the medicine we need to take. >> florida surpassing new york, becoming the state with the second highest number of coronavirus cases. but business leaders in the sunshine state are still looking for ways to get bars and restaurants reopened. >> florida is still very much a global hot spot, but it is many, many weeks away from getting to a point where it can even think about bars. if they open up bars now, they're basically saying goodbye to schools for all of the fall. >> those in the medical field

also feeling the strain. shortages of health care workers are being reported nationwide. >> we are incentiveizing them with dollars, but at some point it doesn't matter how much you pay a person to work. they just can't physically do it anymore. >> with millions of americans out of work due to the pandemic, many relying on the $600 a week federal unemployment assistance, a benefit set to expire this week. >> a lot of people got more money staying at home than they would going back to work. ad so the president's been very clear, our republican senators have been very clear, we're not going to stem that provision. >> but democratic senator chuck schumer says those unemployment checks have helped the economy. >> unemployment insurance has prevented the recession from turning into the great depression. leader mcconnell has refused to put bill together and put it on the floor of the senate. we need him to act now. >> stephanie ramos, abc news, new york. community members are outraged after a woman was

or has different melanin doesn't mean we need to disregard the humanity of that particular person. >> i showed a usps representative the video who says they do not tolerate this kind of behavior and abusive language and provide training to employees in dealing with matters such as these. they are looking further into the incident. several schools in san francisco may get a new name. an outdoor farmers market born from one of the covid-19 street closures in san francisco is blossoming. take a look at the turnout here for the outer sunrise farmers market and mercantile. 37th street between ortega and pacheco turns into this market every sunday. the street is one of the many corridors closed by the city as part of the covid-19 slow streets program. organizers sought to bring fresh food and produce to a mostly

with those cool coastal clouds. we also can see the breeze blowing the trees right here on the embarcadero near ferry building, but lots of blue skies around the bay area. it's been a gorgeous day. santa rosa at 75 degrees. novato, 88. fairfield at 90 at this point. concord and livermore at 87. around 7:00 tonight we'll start to see the clouds spill in through bay into the inland areas. 7:00 tomorrow morning we'll wake up with widespread low clouds and some patchy fog as well. but then that pulls back to the coast by the afternoon. tomorrow's temperatures are actually going to be similar to today's. and then in the morning we'll see temperatures dropping into the mid-50s for the most part to upper 50s with the low clouds once again. but tomorrow, looking for 60s at the beaches to low to and comfortable weather al the bay area. here's the accuweather seven-day forecast. near average, that stays the

sean murphy with his first home run of the year. every win is big in this shortened season. >> it's like support baseball every day. you're going out there. no matter what happens you're needing to win a game because you don't know if this is going to push you forward in the standings. definitely an odd season but i'm happy we've been able to knock two out of three out. if we do that for the rest of the year, we'll be laughing all the way to the bank. astros ace justin verlander out with a forearm strain. there were reports earlier today that verlander was going to miss the rest of the season. verlander quickly denied that report t-shirt saying he has a forearm strain. hopes with rest he'll be able to return soon. giants round out their four-game series with the dodgers in l.a. tonight. 7:00 first pitch over on espn.
