in building a better bay area. one the coronavirus effect on the community. in north bay, another protest outside san quentin prison, large group demanded release of inmates, more than 2,000 infected. ninth prisoner died today. orlando romero's death appears to be from covid-19 but waiting for confirmation. sentenced to death in 1996 for a killing in robbery in riverside county. after setting a record, california saw the number of daily deaths drop to 132. but number of new cases spiked again, topping 9,000. positivity rate, a good indicator of testing and transmission rate is heading back down. seven-day rate at 6.4%. last weekend it hit 8%.

a group of volunteers has created a free food delivery service. started in north beach and hope is to expand, helping restaurants meet ends meet as they struggle in pandemic economy. lauren martinez has details. >> reporter: san francisco's north beach neighborhood is the first of hopefully what will be
