>> reporter: good morning. we're actually staged at the command center where we expect to get an update at 6:00 this morning so we don't have any vantage point of the quickly spreading fire, but we know right now from cal fire the fire sits at around 25,000 acres, 0% containment. and there is new video shot overnight from bonny doon, this is on empire grade road. and there are a alfew cars torc as well. evacuation orders currently in place for 20,000 people.people.. and is an gregorio all the way south in the county as this fire is burning.
4:31 am
>> luckily we have an rv. >> i'm concerned about the house right now, but we have everything that we could. >> reporter: so many people across santa cruz and san mateo counties are concerned about their property, their homes, their belongings, their pets that they might have at their homes as well. the concern of the firefighters though is due to the other fires burning all across northern california right now, they have limited resources, also limited visibility. the smoke is hampering the air fight operations. some 8500 buildings are threatened this morning. and again, 0% contained, we expect to get an update at 6:00 a.m. and we'll carry that live here. julian glover, abc 7 news. >> a tmages showeallyas neighbo

rancho solano neighborhood within forced to evacuate after the complex fires jumped across enter 125interstate 880. people were trying to get out and found themselves stuck in evacuation traffic. amy hollyfield is live in solano county with the evacuations and unfortunately the homes lost to the fire. >> reporter: yeah, we're in vacaville where it is calmer than it was yesterday morning, but still they are roaming thisi neighborhood looking for these hot spots trying to get them all out. as you see the trees rustling here, the breeze is picking up this morning, so they don't want any of these to get any fuel and to get going again. so we are on pleasants valley road here in vacaville where the hennessey fire tore through here yesterday morning. the fire jumped over interstate 80 in fairfield yesterday
4:33 am
afternoon creating major traffic issues as people tried to escape the fire and others were trying to evacuate. firefighters were in the hills trying to stop the fire's progress. there was also an attack from up above as tankers dropped water. there were no reports of injuries or deaths in the area. residents though say that it was terrifying. and that their neighbors were all out there fighting the fire as it advanced toward their homes. >> most scariest i have seen. the heat came so fast. i don't know, i thought for sure that they were going to be burnt or have smoke inhalation. i thought for sure. and then they went over here and put out the fire themselves at my neighbor 00 he house. they are my heros. >> reporter: you can just hear the emotion in her voice. vacaville are police pstatement orders are still in place, but they say there has not been as

many reports of intense fire activity. fairfield is calm this morning, we went over there, checked it out. fairfield has lifted evacuation orders, they did that at 1:30 this morning for the peabody, cement hill and linden road areas. and interstate 880 has reopened. we drove through there and we did not see any fire near the freeway on our way here, but again, look live, firefighters still very busy in this area watching for any problems and you k scan see that the home he is intact, and that of course is their goal, to keep it that way. amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. travis air force base has been evacuated as the lnu lightning complex fires continue to grow. yesterday the based based basedd

frantic fire jump 80 in fairfield. i know that was scary for a lot of people. if you missed amy hollyfield earlier, yes, it is back open and no problems there on the main road. however, there are loads of closures on surface and city streets surrounding the area. but where we're seeing the expanded road closures this morning really is in san mateo and santa cruz county. so i want to bring this in here. we have a full closure of northbound and southbound highway 1 between pes came dare row creek road to santa cruz city limits. it is almost to where highway 1 meets 17. so a large closure. and then a full closure of highway 9 between 34 and ben lomond. and then also an update to vacaville, you can see here the

northwest pocket from 80 to 505, that whole section in there, all of this closed right now except for first responders. no one should be in this area or on any of those city streets. yesterday the chp did make a note that people were trying to return to their home, please do not do that. stay out of the area. and here is the breakdown. 20 separate fires burning in five counties are making up what is called the scu lightning complex fire. so far they have torched more than 100,000 acres. there have been evacuation orders and warnings and also a bit of confusion. last night san jose councilman tweeted if you live along piedmont road, you are safe, that the danger zone has not expanded to that area. and he also said i know some of you have received text messages
4:38 am
calling you to evacuate, but they are not precise, do not panic. residents say they have been relying on social media instead of alerts because the evacuation orders aren't really painting a clear picture of who needs to leave. >> are you talking about us, how far up the mountain are really d for the residents to understand how close the fire is, how urgent it is. >> there are evacuation centers at creek side middle school in patterson and in morgan hill and the milpitas library. now, there are a lot of fires to keep track of and the dangerevo them in one page on our website so you can stay up-to-date. and we does thask that you shar with your friends. and this is continuing to evolve. we think about the weather conditions that could impact how

easily or how challenging it could be for firefighters. >> you have to have your emergency kit and plan ready. and as we saw yesterday, you need to take into account your pets and livestock. hi, everybody. let's take a look at the visibility. it is not quite as bad as it was yesterday. the air quality is not quite as being a krid as it was yesterday as well. you can see the smoke is still out there, you can still taste it and it can given you a sore throat and maybe itch your eyes. you may have noticed late last night on the visible satellite the marine layer returning, clearing out some of the lower levels. and dew points 40s and 50s. so we're out of the touch of humid air mass that was lingering lastly. and temperatures are up to degrees cooler until you get

around antioch. and here is a look at your planner. we have 60s, 70s and 80s as we head through the noon hour. so we start from the mid-50s and mid-60s, 63, 76, 85 at noon. we'll stay in the 60s at the coast where the breezes will be quickest, but the breezes pick up in the north bay and that will push inland and you can see even into the east bay, keeping us around 82 to 91. but it is a spare the air day. and that alert lingers through at least sunday. that is as far as their forecast goes out today. and they will update that and we'll see if it goes into monday. and if these fires are zero contained, we will probably be dealing with the smoke.
4:41 am
so a little bit better this morning, but still not that healthy. let's take a look at traffic with jobina. >> thank you. so mike was mentioning some of the visibility and smoke in the area, so i will talk about that as well. it is covering a part of 80 as you pass vacaville. in the north bay, this closure is impacting people eastbound and westbound 128 between silverado trail and monticello road. so you can see 128 there, that is the main close surhu closure extends to vacaville as well. and you can see that we just have primarily local streets, but the gray on the map is the smoke that is resting over the
