slightly cooler conditions. we start at 55 to 60, we end up near 60 at the coast, 76 around the bay, 88 inland. we'll talk more about the great conditions for the firefighters coming up. firefighters in the north bay are showing steady progress in the lnu complex fire. sky 7 was over vacaville yesterday, you can seeing some of the damage on oak canyon lane. cal fire says as of this morning a total of nearly 1,000 12ruk9s have been destroyed. more than 356,000 acres have burned. and they have 27% containment. and this morning firefighters are seeing much needed help roll in. amy hollyfield is live at the santa rosa fairgrounds with what is going on there. >> reporter: yeah, we're at the fay grounds where the national guard has pulled in and is staging to help firefighters

here on this fire. we have video to show you of the firefight last night in lake county. firefighters are stretched very thinly across three counties fighting this fire. it is a big one. they say that it has burned a total of 356,000 acres. some residents in lake county are helping in the fight, some say that they have used dozers to dig out a line around their homes in the hopes of saving their property. >> we did our part, we put fire lines around the valley and saved it because i like looking at green trees instead of charred ones. >> reporter: and the area looked pretty calm last night, there vie ahe wds hied down. sohat was a b hie camp, they have more than 2,000 firefighters on this fire. the weather is good this morning, it is actually pretty chilly. and there isn't any wind, so they are hoping to make a good

amount of progress today. amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. and as the lnu lightning complex fire continues to burn, we're now learning that county officials struggled with confusing emergency alert systems when the fire first sparked. joe bbina has more. >> yeah, this is confusing. so listen closely here. in napa county, an alert meant to warn residents of possible evacuations did not send because of a coding error. that is according to the l.a. times. the times says a similar alert was sent in sonoma county to areas that required no evacuation. that alert lichked linked to ls kincaid fire. and the city emergency operations employee missed a call to report to work because their phone was set to vibrate.

this is all just a year after napa, sonoma and solano counties introduced the high/low sirens intented to e intended for alert of damage and they were not used. and a guerneville home owner is vowing to rebuild. it was destroyed in the lnu lightning complex fire. of course it was a heartbreaking momt as he fou moment as he found his home of 28 years is gone. >> it is awful seeing all of this. i mean, my gosh , there is nothing. three, four days in a row i went out and was driving around with my dog in the car and weeping. it is shocking that two stories can become like 3 feet high. i have my dog and my car and

insurance. so that is good. >> he says his home was equipped with fireproof siding, but that was obviously not enough. the dolan fire has burned a facility at the sanctuary. the fate of a four month old condor chick is not known. the chick's parent flew away and the remote camera was destroyed. the sanctuary is run by a nonprofit group. on the peninsula, help is needed in san mateo county and beyond for the fire evacuees who have nowhere to go and nothing to eat. and kate larsen went to half moon bay to find out how you can help. >> reporter: even under his mask, the stress of evacuating and the possibility of losing

2 50e soe50 sold engineers arrived to help fight the fire. and number two, the scu lightning complex is burning in seven south bay counties and is 20% contained. three to four spots remain extremely active. and number three, crews are making progress on the czu lightning complex in san mateo and santa cruz counties. it is 19% contained. we expect to get an update in about 45 minutes. and number four, tremendous weather during the overnight hours for that firefighting and also for the air quality which is relatively clean. but as we talked about yesterday, the potential for poor air quality is out there and it was extended. the spare the air alert is through friday. and governor newsom will give an update at noon here on

up from 17% yesterday to 19%, hoping to get another positive update this morning. and another piece of good news, the advantage ace warnings for people in santa clara county are clear, fire crews saying that they are confident about their containment line. they are confident that the lin wi that the flames have still done a lot of damage in the interior of the fire. 443 buildings destroyed. the majority in santa clara coun county. and so many of those evacuated are wondering what they might return home to. >> emotionally we're all a wreck. especially those who are closer to the fire who are still extremely worried about whether or not that they will have a home to go home to.

mike nicco has been telling us that it may be a while before it completely clears out. but this morning most of us are in pretty good shape. >> that is absolutely true. so far all the air quality has been on the moderate to good side and even though we're looking at a lot of cloud cover in san jose, not nearly as much smoke. and that could change. increasing warm and breezes means fire conditions will deteriorate away from the coast as we head deeper into this forecast. 67 at san francisco, 70 to 79 from richmond down toward freemont. 90 in morgan hill. and upper 70s to mid-80s through most of the north bay. so here we are, and you can see the smoke forecast which did a really good job yesterday, remember that bulge of clean air it brought during the afternoon and evening hours? it was a nice walk last night. so you can see most of today is
