sjsu launched the nation's largest wildfire research center bringing together faculty members and millions of dollars in new tech. >> the main thing was to build a team with different expertise and new technologies to the problem. >> reporter: the team will use academic tuesday help predict and better understand wildfires. >> for example, we now are operating a advanced wildfire pretick system that takes wildfire information and weather information, and it allows us to forecast how wildfires create their own weather and how that impacts fire spread. >> reporter: a relatively new year old radar system will also allow them to look into radar loops. >> those can now adjusted into our forecasting system in realtime so we can better predict fire behavior and fire spread in the future and smoke dispersion and dice transports. >> it's research already being
