we're at 107 in concord, 100 in rode wood city. what we're watching closely overnight tonight. is our wins. winds developing in the north bay. that's why a red flag warning will go into effect starting at 10:00 p.m. tonight. starting at 10:00 a.m. tuesday morning in the santa cruz mountains, these offshore winds. we've been through these events before. they drag in warm, very dry air, that means fires can start easily. >> a wind advisory will go into effect. this is where we expect the strongest winds. we look at those winds closely, we'll have an update on our air quality and find some relief from this extreme heat in a few minutes. >> drew, thank you so much. >> it was well into the 90s in alameda.

one homeowner showed us, the deck at his house registered 153 degrees. the entire east bay is dealing with this heat wave. >> 11:00 a.m. this morning we're at 99 degrees. our fuel moisture is down to 10% now. >> knowing what could happen with just one spark in the east bay hills. >> very dry, very susceptible. we're asking our community 20 do everything you can to prevent that ignition source. >> temperatures may drop in the days ahead, the winds are expected to pick up. >> that's ideal oakland and neighboring departments will staff up and launch patrols like these.

currently being built on valencia. the initiative comes with 57 days to go. labor day often considered the start of the final stretch. joe biden campaigned in pennsylvania. he campaigned with union members and went after president trump's labor. >> a cbs news poll shows democratic presidential nominee joe biden with a 10 point lead over president trump nationally. still, it's the battleground states that will make the difference. today kamala harris and mike pence kparned in wisconsin. he spoke to employees as the campaigns ramp up, the pandemic will continue to be front and center, in big ways and small. the president asked a reporter to remove his mask. >> you're going to have to take that off, please.

stimulus checks are what michael finney is tracking for us. >> now we're marking labor day by sending out unemployment checks. the president signed an executive order giving some of those supplemental benefits of $300 a week. since this has officially been in effect for three weeks now, those qualifying in california will get $900 payments this week. many of the checks went out today. california has just been approved by the federal government for at least two more weeks of payments, we're looking at an additional $600 for the workers who qualifiedp labor day weekend is no black friday. best buy, home depot and others are offering appliances at deep counts. many new model appliances will be introduced in the coming

to a renewed interest in bartering, it's part of the changing workplace we built on. david louie shows us how bay area businesses are bartering to save cash. it's never been more important than now for small businesses that have lost much of their revenue during the pandemic. that's led to a 30% increase of traffic. a network of 7,000 businesses that barter for goods and services. >> say a restaurant needs a plumber, the plumber gets credits but doesn't have to use them at the restaurant. he can take the dollars and use them for whatever he wants, vehicle maintenance, new shirts, getting advertising. or office equipment. whatever he needed for his business. >> the owner of san francisco's queen ann hotel wanted to take advantage of this low occupancy to get some major projects done.

grizzly bears at the oakland zoo had some fun while trying to beat the heat today. you can see them playing and splashing around. oakland school is home to two sets of grizzlies frotle cooler. the bears like to spar in the pool and use old fire hoses for floaties. >> it's another day of excessive heat and air quality issues. the air quality is fluctuating. you can see a live look from our camera, the haze that's sitting over the bay area will not get better in the near term, we expect more smoke from the creek fire, to our east and fresno county to get pushed over the bay area over the next 24 to 48 hours. tomorrow, poor air quality again. and a similar story on wednesday.ehenexnded. by wednday, tha are their

days. right now, slight relief on the coastline. 68 half moon bay, we're down to 77 in san francisco. that's it for the sea breeze. excessive heat warnings are still in effect. 102 in p alto, and 108 in brentwood. there's the excessive heat warning, the heat advisory in effect. these will expire at 9:00 p.m. tonight. tonight is another warm night. limited if any fogg near the coastline. temperatures again in the 60s and 70s, but are concerned overnight, will be the increasing offshore wind. the red flag warning will go into effect. beginning at 10:00 a.m. tuesday for the santa cruz mountains as the offshore winds develop, we've seen this pattern before, you've had those dry winds that drop humidity levels, it can really start any fires quickly, and they can spread rapidly.

a closer look at these winds. they're gusty in the north bay especially. that's where we do find the highest risk over tuesday. we'll be in the north bay as the winds gust over 30 miles per hour. we take a look at the fire danger index, this looks at how strong the winds are, how warm the temperatures are, and how low the humidity is. as we add c alockcedv into early tomorrow morning, 7:00 a.m., you can see high to extreme fire danger in parts of sonoma, napa and solano county. that's why we have the red flag warning in effect. the time frame we're looking at, 3:00 a.m. tomorrow, to 3:00 p.m. tomorrow afternoon. highs, slightly cooler, but it's going to be warm out there, here's the accuweather forecast, heat is very slow to ease, but the good news we're watching, wednesday morning that is when the winds relax.
