calistoga this morning. >> reporter: and we're checking out the downtown. it looks okay. lights are on here. calistoga is one of the towns in napa county that did have its power shut off. we're seeing a lot of generators though powering homes and businesses in the wine country. now that these power outages are becoming more and more common we're seeing generators poweringnd homes in these areas. we talked to one mom who said that it is a struggle doing everything in the dark at home but she says her young kids are resilient and seem to be doing okay. >> they are pretty amazing and we just try to stay super positive and make it happy and fun and the best situation it can be because we can't change it. >> reporter: pg&e shut thethe hot windy weather.

they turned the power off for about 5,000 in napa county and about 17,000 in sonoma county. they are hoping today is the last day without power. pg&e says they could get the lights turned back on by late tonight. amy hollyfield abc 7 news. developing news overnight, new evacuations near oraville as oraville as oraville as the as the exploding in size. this new video shows how intense the conditions were as people raced to safety. so far nearly 58,000 acres have burned and it is 37% contained. the bear fire is part of the north complex which sparked last month from a lightning strike. mandatory evacuations are now spread across parts of three counties, through butte and youruma.

and the fire northeast of fresno has scorched more than 152,000 acres since friday.yuma. and the fire northeast of fresno. flames have forced more evacuations and more rescues. helicopters have been lifting hikers and campers to safety in the sierra national forest. and the smoke is so intense rescuers had to use night vision goggles. >> it was such an anxious wait not knowing here, so it is surreal just having them here in the flesh. >> the smoke was so thick it was hard to land safely or identify the locations where the advantage'eeevacueesadvantage evacuees are. flames have destroyed 60 homes. and it is not just california that is on fire. oregon and washington are well.

the governor of oregon has declared a state of emergency. parts of marian and clackamas counties are under evacuation orders. >> and our horse trailer got grid locked down we had to walk the 2 1/2 miles down here soe could get down on the hill. >> a large portion of medford was ordered to evacuate last night because of a fire burning near interstate 5. that wildfire whi started yesterday forced officials to close 25 miles of the highway all the way down to the california border. let's take a quick look at the three major wildfires that are burning in the bay area. the scu complex burned more than 396,000 acres in seven counties. containment has e up to 95%. the lnu complex in the north bay has scorched more than 375,000 acres, it is 91% contained. and firefighters keep making progress on the czu complex.
