smoke from oregon. but look at above 1,000 feet, we have the explosive development of the bear fire and all the ash that it expelled was coming in on that. now the winds are out of the southeast, so not as much ash in the air and that is why i don't think that it will be quite as orange as it was yesterday. but with that smoke at the lower levels, it will be around all throughout today. wake up tomorrow, saturday morning, still in relief sunday morning as a major pattern develops. ands as we head into sunday afternoon, cooler with kleiner air. so spare the air alert for today and tomorrow and possibly saturday. age th and then it should all change. and so just want to give you a head's up that the chp has issued a fog advisory for the

it got infected with smoke from oregon. so spare the air through tomorrow and i think that that could be steppeded extended int. and you see the low pressure drawing the air from the deadly fires in oregon and transporting it right into our neighborhoods. we have 34ihave mid to upper 70 south bay. low to mid-60s along the coast. upper 60s for downtown, south san francisco and sausalito. and mid to upper 70s around 75 to 80 through the north bay valleys. along the east bay shore, 70 at berkeley to several cities around 75. and if we're lucky, in the 80s in the east bay valleys. you should see a little more sunshine than yesterday. so tonight under smog and in the mid-50s, so cool. but i wouldn't keep the windows open. tomorrow unhealthy air and

the poorest air quality. ukiah, santa rosa, napas an el, inland east bay, you are immune. but that will change as we head throughout the day. tomorrow. and i think that we could send it even into saturday. and i'll explain that more in the smoke forecast in about 7 minutes. this morning a lot of us are still talking about the orange skies that made it seem likepoc. and amy hollyfield is live in walnut creek as people are coping with the unreal conditions. >> reporter: yeah, definitely left its mark. look at the ash on the cars here at this ford dealership in walnut creek. this dealership will be watching the skies carefully today and we are seeing a bit of a haze already this morning. but we don't see the orange.

this dealership says that they won't wash the ash off until this is all over and then they will do the deep clean. we definitely saw people yesterday pawing and taking in the historical moment. a lot of people pa rarading outo treasure island to take a picture of the orange sky. and others told us it impacted their mood and threw off their rhythm. one person missed an appointment because they felt so off. and then there were some who just went ahead and turned to pizza saying a die like we had called for comfort food. >> you know, it is scary, but it is our reality. so you either face it head-on or -- i mean that is the only option. so there was a craving for pizza, there was a dystopian reality and we so i recommend it. >> reporter: and some people

were out on walks or fishing trying to find a sense of normalcy in a very odd feeling day. the air quality actually wasn't as bad as it looks. it wasn't a terrible day to be out i'd. and if you did exercise outside yesterday, you were the smart one because today the air quality is expected to be worse. and right now, we're seeing that it is a gray, more of a smog that we see. we're not seeing the orange darkness that questiwe saw yest. so it is starting to look like today will look a little better. amyhollyfield, abc 7 news. and now again let's look at those dark orange skies. john's grill usually birs city for lunch, but the darkness really kept people away. and look here, you can barely see that that is alcatraz. the dark orange skies even affected construction sites

nation as to why the sky was so strange. and developing news, firefighters are battling the bear fire. and more than 252 240ur,000 acr already burned and is 24% contained. parts of the town of oroville still under threat and that is where kaylee hartung is this morning. >> reporter: it is a difficult firefight in this area. two wildfires converged here and those flames exploded when they met in the middle of the night. authorities really struggled to notify people who were asleep in their beds at the time, and you can see that this home is one of thousands daughter in tcaught i destrublgts difference pade strublg structure difference path. and the fire burned so hot at times, it melted glass.destruct. and the fire burned so hot at times, it melted glass. the homeowners did everyting

that they could to try to save this place. and it seems like they were able to get animal to the safety, but this family last everything else. like so many others. and again, this fire exploding in the middle of the night leaving little warning. we know that at least three fatalities in this area just a couple miles from here, others trapped more than 100 rescued and so many more injured. kaylee hartung, abc news, oroville. and air crews are helping to battle thes creek fire burning northeast of the fresno. and cal fire officials say that increased visibility did allow pilots to get off the ground yesterday and they made several rounds through the fire. and pilots need at least a mile of visibility in order to take off. nearly 167,000 acres have burned so far. still 0% containment. and you can follow the latest details on the fires with our exclusive wild firfire tracker.
