transported to the hospital for possible fentanyl exposure. at last check, everyone was in stable condition. that is certainly good news right now. i want to stand out of the way. off in this distance, this is the area closed off near the marin headlands. it is has since opened in the last two hours. the highway patrol said they received a report of a driver swerving on the bridge. when they arrived, the car was stopped along a northbound lane. that driver who was inside was unconscious. officers made the decision to clear the lane by giving the car and getting the car to the first exit north of the bridge. that officer then got sick a short time later. he was transported to the hospital along with a tow truck diver and several other emergency responders. a number of chp officers. there was a white powdery substance in the vehicle and it appears that may have fentanyl in it.

in fact, bay area quality management district is forecasting that by us the, we'll have more moderate air quality instead of this unhealthy air. you can see why it is unhealthy and why we had such a smoky weekend. the fire is headed toward the bay area. there is a bit of a pattern change. yesterday the winds were blowing from the east and now we're seeing it start to shift. this area of low pressure approaches oregon and parts of northern california. this will help to increase the sea breeze and help push the smoke out. of course, we have quite a bit of smoke as well. here's the smoke forecast. 9:00, we're still in the pitchings and oranges. that's more smoke. notice overnight, it starts to change and throughout the day monday, hopefully it will be our last spare the air day for a while. it looks like things will improve into tuesday. >> all right. thank you. and you can keep track of the air quality levels you live by using this tracker on our webb. the link is right at the top of

our home page or on your free abc7 news app. developing news from southern california. a law enforcement official tells abc news that two los angeles county sheriff's deputies wounded in an ambush attack last night are now in stable condition. one of the deputies is a 31-year-old mother of a 6-year-old boy. she was shot in the jaw and the arms. she's in critical but stable condition. the other deputy was a 24-year-old man hit in the forehead, arm and hand. he is alert. startling video captured the ambush. we won't show the part where the unidentified shooter opens fire on the deputies sitting in their patrol car. some may find it disturbing. >> he acted as if he would walk past the car and then he moved toward it, raised the pistol and fired several rounds striking the sheriff's deputies. >> the sheriff's office is offering a 100,000 reward for information leading to the

arrest. and strong reaction from police departments across the bay area which are calling for violence against officers to stop. cornell bernard has the story. >> we are sick to our stomachs, angry. >> reporter: that reaction from paul kelly after seeing this disturbing surveillance video capturing the ambush style attack on two sheriff's deputies. >> you realize, it's a tough job. we take risks. but doing our job is not being ambushed. that's not doing our job. they were just sitting there. it's sickening. >> he sent a safety message to his officers sunday. >> to watch each other's back. get home safe. >> san francisco police tweet good wishes for the l.a. sheriff's department saying we pray for the recovery of your two deputies. >> my only reaction was to actually cry that this happen.

that's well past the normal 8:00 a.m. start time. other agencies provided free rides. b.a.r.t. said a field network device failed this morning. that device helps monitor the train network. >> a major inconvenience for tens of thousands of people and we apologize and we appreciate their patience and understanding. particularly when we need every ride per we can get. >> it is not known why the device failed and there is no evidence of a hack. they are trying to prevent it. a quick check on the bay area wild firs. cal fire says it expects to have the fire contained by thursday. containment is at 98%. that's the one in contra costra and alameda counties. the lnu complex fire is at 96% containment. and cal fire continun ground on the czu complex in san mateo and santa cruz counties.

that fire is 87% contained. firefighters on the front lines of the north fire are racing against the clock to build containment lines. the fire has claimed the lives of 12 people. the deadliest wildfire in the state. more than 300 structures of burned. at more than a quarter million acres burned, it is only 26% contained. cal fire is worried about gusty winds in the forecast. president trump will visit california tomorrow to get a wildfire briefing. he'll meet with fire officials at mclellan field in sacramento where the fire crewsed are based. governor newsom and trump have spoken on the phone since mid-august. the president spoke of the dangers firefighters are facing. >> 28,000 firefighters and first responders who courageously and bravely are fighting out there. they are fighting and it is dangerous. it's dangerous. it is a rapidly spreading hundreds of thousands of acres.

there has not been anything quite like this one. >> president trump paid a visit to california after the devastating 2018 wildfire season. the economy is an important topic here at abc7 news to help build a better bay area. tomorrow will be a big day for businesses. many can open indoors including hair salons and barber shops. others are nail salons, massage studios and tattoo studios. gyms and fitness centers can also have people inside. all of them have to follow capacity limits and other health regulations. parents and students will get more support with distance learning starting monday. dozens of rec centers and community centers will become learning hubs where students can go each school day to get support and assistance in small groups. the city anticipates in-person learning to resume september 21st for the schools that get

let me show you why it will change. right now visibility also affected by the haze. in half moon bay, it is down to 3/4 of a mile. so haze everywhere around the bay area and you can see it here with this live shot. it is just gray out there. san francisco is currently 59 degrees. oakland, 65. san jose, 72 degrees. and another live shot. this time in walnut creek. so you see it looks very much the same. just these gray skies and the smog continues. in santa rosa, 68. 70 in novato. and we have some upper 70s in fairfield, concord, livermore at 76. here's the wind that's coming in. the sea breeze that will help push out the smoke. it is gusting to 21 miles n hour in novato. 18 at sfo. the problem is we have a lot of smoke offshore. so that smoke is going to come back through the bay area. as a sea breeze continues over the next few days, it will get the smoke out of here. here's the smoke forecast.

9:00 tonight. notice we are still in the dark red, or the pinks, dark oranges. and then tomorrow we'll notice an improvement. there will be smoke. but notice we move toward the yellows and greens so less smoke headed our way tomorrow. and then the sea breeze continues to push more of the smoke out. monday night into tuesday, we finally enter the areas of light blue. so much less smoke in the air and even out here, we have some clear, clean air by the ocean. so it is heading our way. so one more spare the air day at least on monday and then right now, the bay area quality management district does predict moderate air quality tuesday, wednesday, and thursday so far. overnight lows will be in the 50s with fog pushing in once again. 54 in san francisco. san jose, 56. still hazy overnight and into tomorrow. and highs tomorrow will be mid 60s at the coast, lots of low to

mid 70s around the bay. one more spare the air day but we will start to notice improving air quality throughout the day. it should be better by tuesday with more sunshine. a little warmer on wednesday. mid-week should be a great day to head outside. partly cloudy on thursday and then the system might bring us a slight chance of rain to areas to our north which also brings temperatures, cooler temperatures in the inland areas that will be dropping before things start to warm up. it looks like more sunshine for next weekend. so after a week watching the air quality, we got to watch football but it was close. at kickoff, the a you have rob sala on the sidelines.o finds moster across the field. he is a track tar in college so he's fast.
