landfall early tomorrow as a category 1 or 2 hurricane. mandatory evacuations have been ordered in mississippi and louisiana with the storm's new path putting new orleans in the bull's eye. >> after katrina anything around here you're going to take serious. you can't take anything lightly. >> reporter: sally already dumping more than 9 inches of rain in south florida over the weekend triggering flash floods in the keys. >> power is going out right now. >> reporter: now up to 20 inches of rain is expected when the storm makes landfall along the gulf coast. bringing life-threatening storm surge. we have really good reason to be very concerned about this storm, particularly because it is going to be a very slow-moving storm. >> reporter: the threat coming less than three weeks after hurricane laura slammed into southwest louisiana. >> power went out in lake charles. the wind is buffeting our hotel.

talent, oregon there's little left standing to show the town ever existed. >> all but nine homes burnt to the ground. >> reporter: even the fire department falling victim to the flames. this fire engine completely burned out. >> we weren't able to do anything. it was futile. we would put as much water as we had and it didn't seem to do one thing. >> reporter: there is potential good news for the pacific northwest. the forecast shows rain as early as tonight. in california there's no rain in the forecast in the future. kenneth, mona? two los angeles county sheriff deputies remain in the hospital. a $100,000 reward is being offered as police search for the person in this video. you see him there. the shooter walked up to the deputies car and fired multiple times before running off. the victims a 31-year-old mother and 24-year-old man were able to radio for help. both are in stable condition.
