firefighters on the front lines of the north complex fire burning in butte and plumas counties are racing against the clock to build containment lines. and more than a quarter of a million acres burned, only 26% contained. cal fire is worried about the gusty winds in the forecast. the fire has already burned more than 300 structures. and president trump is coming to california today to 3450 meet with first responders. y jobina has more. >> yes, president trump is expected to visit mcclellan park in sacramento county which has served as a base for cal fire operations. the president will meet with local and federal fire emergency officials. he will be briefed on the state's wildfires. last night, president trump said p at he is 3r5iing for the prayeople affect a myio y cooing the

neighborhoods under the smog that is out there. it is more smoke than fog this morning. everything is pretty dangerous to be outside again because of the smoke that will be lingering. but you can see the winds are starting to pick up this afternoon. and watch what it does to our smoke. you can see that it does start to clean out a little bit closer you are to the coast. but the coast is also very smoggy. and by tuesday morning, still looking at the closer you are to the coast, the cleaner you are. but by tuesday evening and into wednesday, we're looking at an improving air quality for all of us. more about that coming up. good morning, we will start with the bay bridge toll plaza.

and here is the area of low pressure that is steering most of the moisture up to the pacific northwest. and the storm seems to be weakening, but much needed rain possibly half an inch in oregon and washington while we may get some drizzle thursday and friday morning. that's it. so we're surrounded by smoke once again. and head up the peninsula, low he to mid 70s. and upper 60s downtown, sausalito. low to mid-60s north bay coast. and along the east bay shore, the breeze picking up will keep berkeley around 60. we'll have 81 to 85 in the east bay valleys. tonight the smog will linger, but i think that it will be more fog than smoke.

>> and you can find an interactive map on abc7news.com to see what is open in your area. pld will be touching down in california today. he will meet with fire officials at mcclellan field just outside of sacramento where the fire crews are based. he is scheduled to land around 10:45 this morning. governor newsom and president trump have spoken by phone since mid august. and here is the latest information on the bay area wildfires. cal fire says that it expects to have the scu complex fully contained by thursday, containment at 98%. and that is the fire in santa o counties. the lnu complex is at 96% containment, cal fire continues to gain ground on the czu complex in san mateo and santa cruz counties, that fire is 89% contained. at the live desk, the search is on for the person who shot

two los angeles county sheriffs deputies and the startling video captured the ambush, but we won't show the moment where the uni had night shooter opened fire. this happened late saturday night in compton. the deputies were sitting inside their patrol car. >> he acted as if he was going to walk past the car and then made a left turn directly toward the car, raised a pistol and fired several rounds inside of the vehicle striking both. >> and the sheriff's department says that both deputies are in critical condition, one is a 31-year-old woman and a mother of 6ear-old bi. a boy. she was shot in the jaw and arms. the other is a 24-year-old man hit in the forehead, arm and hand. there is a $100,000 reward for any information that can lead to an arrest. the return of the nfl meant
