host josh gad with daisy ridley. have a good night. >> dicky: from hollywood, it's "jimmy kimmel live", with guest host, josh gad. tonight, daisy ridley, and our health care hero of the week, and now, here's josh gad. >> hello and welcome to "jimmy kimmel live!" instead of guests tonight, we have the sounds of lawnmowers. i'm your guest host, josh gad. i'm shooting this in what appears to be pablo escobar's guesthouse. it's about a hundred degrees right now. but you know with the breeze, it only feels like hell. when i agreed to host this show a few weeks ago, i said "let's do it outside! that's what the health experts recommend!" and then this weekend, l.a. county recorded its highest temperature ever of 121 degrees. i know that because literally every person i follow on social media posted a screen grab of

their weather app. everyone's trying to prove it was the hottest where they live. look, it's not a competition. global warming will eventually kill us all together. as you know, yesterday was labor day, which is a columbus day that you're not racist for celebrating. i went to a pool party, and by that, i mean i wore a mask alone in my pool and played ambient crowd noises like an nba bubble game. and on saturday, you may have heard about this, i went to this fun little boat parade in texas, and sadly -- my ship sank. her name was "the hms metaphor," and she will be missed. with the passing of labor day, summer is now officially over, and also somehow, hasn't happened yet. it's like the movie tenet. i'm assuming that's what it's like. i haven't seen it yet because i don't want to die. the big question leading into the weekend was would people follow the advice of health experts and avoid large parties? and the answer is, america. >> virus didn't stop crowds from hitting a lot of beaches

saturday and sunday. these are pictures of some busy beaches from california, to florida to new jersey. >> i had in mind this is what it would be like, but i didn't think it would be this bad, you can't even -- they're like side to side, it's crazy. >> a massive crowd of people showing up for an unofficial burning man festival in california. no social distancing. >> you just gotta ask yourself, do you want your obituary to include the phrase "unofficial san francisco-based burning man festival?" and was it worth it? labor day barbecues aren't even fun under normal circumstances. they're like 4th of july with half the food, half the booze, and none of the fireworks. all you get is a sunburn and an hour-long lecture from your uncle todd about refinancing your mortgage before it's too late. guillermo, you didn't go to a barbecue this weekend, did you? >> guillermo: no, i stayed home. i got drunk, i eat. but on sunday, i made a big

toothbrushes?" the answer was surprisingly yes. yes, they can. they're actually doing screenings of "frozen 2" at drive-in theaters around the country. if you thought being stuck at home while your kids screamed "into the unknown" was a lot, you should try it in a car. the other disney movie i'm in this summer is artemis fowl, where i play a master thief named "mulch diggums." as you can see in this picture, i look like i'm playing hagrid in a harry potter porno. that's actually not makeup, that's just how i looked after california shut the barbershops down. and because disney and i just can't get enough of each other, we collaborated on a new original olaf short called "once upon a snowman." which is coming to disney plus october 23rd. and we're also working on another exciting olaf project that we think is going to revolutionize the world of education. >> when it comes to the challenges of remote learning, kids and parents could both use a little help. that's why disney is introducing "olaf's learning adventures", a

i was so blown away by that. do you regret inviting me that day? do you have a guilty conscience like you should? >> it was the first time in our friendship when you really looked at me with something that wasn't joy in your eyes. >> in america, we call that "hate." so dais, i want to ask you, i just found this out. have you been keeping ray's secret from the beginning? did you know about the parentage? tell me about that journey of when you found out. >> no. at the beginning, there was toying like with an obi-wan connection. then it went to she was no one. and then it came to nine and jj pitched me the film. oh, yeah. and then, and then i was like, awesome. then two weeks later he was like, oh, we're not sure. so it kept changing. so even while we were filming i wasn't sure what the answer was going to be.
