and i said "how many people passed on this before you got to me?" they claimed it was only one. anyway, i wrote it because i respect dr. fauci and also because i'm hoping he'll sneak me an early vial of the vaccine. if i ever meet him, i'm going to just turn around and gently lower my pants. "got anything for me"? although i do that when i meet most health professionals. "time" also announced that the least influential person of the year was this lady, who, despite the signs and a lot of yelling, was unable to effect any change to baskin robbin's mask policy. you know, because of the pandemic, the cdc is urging families to skip trick or treating this year which really screws me up. that's my bit! i'm the one who takes the kids candy away! the cdc now recommends that if your kids want to do something spooky on halloween, they should sit quietly and think about how badly the administration handled the pandemic response. halloween is a major source of

revenue for the candy companies. it's a five billion dollar industry. but i think with a little bit of re-branding, these companies could embrace covid and really cash in. for example -- are you ready for examples? "stuck at home with sour patch kids." and finally -- "mike and ike are dead." meanwhile, there are new -- new concerns about foreign interference in our election. because of all the mail-in ballots, it could take a while for the votes to be counted which means there's a good chance we may not know who won

on election night or maybe even for days later. the fbi yesterday issued a warning that so-called "foreign actors" might try to use that extra time between voting and results to "spread disinformation" and "undermine confidence in u.s. democratic institutions." the foreign actors they are specically worried about are these, the cast of "schitt's creek." first they come for our emmys, then they come for our democracy. there's increasing concern that even if he loses, trump will refuse to leave the white house. but here's the thing, that's simple. if the american people want to guarantee that donald trump will leave us, there's an easy thing we can do, marry him. i miss the drummer sometimes, you know? by the way, you know who is gonna be voting for the first time ever this year? mike tyson. tyson tweeted yesterday that he is proud that he will finally cast a vote.

in this election. and i think that's great. if for no other reason than i want to hear mike tyson say the words "participating in democracy." speaking of prize fights, we are now less than a week away from the first presidential debate between donald trump and joe biden. the debate will be held in cleveland at case western reserve university. never heard of it. trump has reportedly been preparing for the debates by watching tv. that's right. he's been training twelve hours a day for the past four years for this. they say that biden considered taking a page from trump's book and putting the women who accused him of sexual assault in the audience for the debate but they're not allowed to have more than 400 people in the crowd. [cheers and applause] watching joe biden in these debates will be like watching your kid in the school play. you'll be like -- very good. all right.

there will be no audience for the debate so the president has been warming himself in front of a series of crowds. trump was in moon township, pennsylvania last night where he once again floated this strange idea slash accusation that he and joe biden should take drug tests. >> this guy doesn't have a clue. he doesn't know where the hell he is. and they'll give him a shot of something. i don't know. he's going to get something, ellie b he'll be, you know, i watched him so badly in the debates, and then with bernie, he was average. he got through. and i said what the hell is he taking? and i said that, we want a drug test. we want a drug test. test. test. weel beet ta we'll both take it, we'll both take it. >> jimmy: i don't think lipitor is considered to be performance-enhancing. i hope biden takes him up on that! i would love to see trump's drug test! propecia, cialis, adderall, dexatrim, that one that stops you from leaking.

he'd probably just get the same guy who took his s.a.t.s for him. kamala harris is gearing up for her one and only vice presidential debate with mike pence next month. during her practice sessions, which don't seem that necessary, mayor pete buttigieg has been standing in for mike pence. you know, they do these practice debates. do you even need a person to fill in for mike pence? just put a white wig on a mop and call it a day. there's a lot on the line for pence. for one thing, he'll be forced to be in the same room as a woman without mother standing by. which is difficult. i'm worried about mike pence if he wants to knock this debate out of the park, he needs to get some new material. pence has been on the road telling the same phony story about his "daily conversation" with president trump over and over again. >> i got to tell you, when i told him i was going to be in michigan tonight when he was in london, i think he sounded just a little bit jealous. when i told him last night that i was headed to iowa, i think he

for yet another sweatysburg address. can't we just have the election now? is anyone actually undecided? this kind of tells you all you need to know with all that is going on right now all the division and fear and unemployment. last month, the trump campaign spent $477,000 on fireworks. for real. roll the tape here. not only did mexico not pay for the wall, trump paid them half a million dollars for fireworks. this is the display for the republican national convention. and it's a beautiful display, no question about that. and the fact that they toppled the washington monument, well, i'm sure they'll get that all taped up. trump never could understand why they built a monument to denzel washington in the first place. this is our first week here in the studio after more than six months of working from home. and when you're a couple and you've been cooped up together for half the year, you have a chance to rediscover each other for better or worse.

afternoon, and once right before bed, for some reason. >> she needs to have the ac, 24/7, okay, 24/7. and it gets cold, so i don't like that. so at nighttime i weak up and go turn that off, and i told her, listen, you don't pay the bill, the bills are going to be real expensive. >> during my time together with my fiance, i learned that she's person on zoom calls that uses all those business jargon terms like "kirle back", "touch base", and my least favorite, "turn key". >> while my husband loves the idea of cooking from scratch he's not that great of following through. the refrigerator is full of sar dough starter. >> we have two different types of kitchen scissors.

i had been planning on. >> jimmy: i saw on instagram you lost a couple family members, your aunt and uncle to covid, right? >> yeah, that's right. >> jimmy: and your uncle seemed like a character and a great guy, based on what i saw. >> yeah, he was, he was. his name was shaquille. and both my, so it was my dad's side and my mom's side, an aunt and an uncle, and both of them had really eventful lives growing up in the uk at a time that was maybe slightly less tolerant and making their way through that, making a success of their lives, but both of them ultimately turning towards faith. and my uncle in particular, shaquille mamu, he as wearing silk shirts coming down to here with open necks and medallions and working for a banker trying to provide support to the immigrant community, and after that he became a preacher. so he really had the gift of the

gab between being a teddy boy, working in banking sales and then almost being a door to door kind of preacher. he always had jokes and stuff. and i think about his, this video from his 60th birthday with his twin brother, he gave their beautiful speech and said i hope all your dreams come true to everyone here. and if they do, i hope you don't mind sharing a little bit. and that was his vibe, you know. he always had a little joke, but when i think about where we are as a species right now, i feel like his words are ringing in his ears. a lot of the challenges that we face are ones that we share, and the way out of them is also sharing resources or health care, you know. >> jimmy: yeah. >> so his spirit is kind of, is with me, i think, as i kind of move forwards. >> jimmy: did he get a kick out of your career, your music career, your acting career? >> he did, yeah. he did, i think.

going through a breakup with your country. it's a story that people in the uk can relate to, a lot of people in the u.s. feel like they're going through a breakup. the philippines, india, hungary. it's a tumultuous time. people feel like i'm breaking up with this country or it's breaking up with me, so the album goes through that breakup, ang g anger, depression, grief, and it ends up with great love. and we have great guests, people like mindy kaling and yara shahidi. they're my friends helping me through this breakup. so it really tells that story. >> jimmy: i didn't know it was a me metaphor. so when i was listening to the album, i'm like, whoever this girl is, she's going to be really mad. >> she's already mad.

britannia is kind of pissed. it's heartbreaking because you care about the place. on both sides of the atlantic, we can go through some couples counseling and come out the other side with new relationships in tact. >> jimmy: you have a new movie coming out called "sound of metal." i saw the trailer. it looks really, really good. who is the director of this film? >> it's an amazing first time director, darius it's a movie with a lot of heart. it's got a very particular sound design. the character i play, ruben, goes through a process of hearing loss through the film. so the sound design is new that hearing loss.

the whole movie is captioned, so hearing audiences and non-hearing audiences can all experience ruben's journey, and then the film is equally accessible to all audiences. >> jimmy: you play a punk rock drummer. do you know how to play the drups? d did you know how to play the drums before the movie? >> i did not. the intention initially was that i would be a metal drummer. it became very clear very quickly that even with my three-hour lessons every day for seven months i'm not going to become a metal drummer. but we downgraded it or made it a slightly less technical style of drumming, but my drama teacher was incredibly patient. >> jimmy: and you learned sign language. >> i did. ruben's journey is an introduction to deaf culture.

but, you know, i thought i would do something really special and something really good, so what i did, i'll go get it. is it all right if i leave for just a second? >> jimmy: yes, of course, i'll talk to the adirondack chair. so, how are you enjoying tim's bottom? >> that is dis -- not, not as much as it should be. that's decidedly not an adirondack chair. >> jimmy: sorry of. >> i'll let her, but anyway, i thought, look, i'm artistic. i'm creative. >> jimmy: mm-hm. >> i can do something really cool and something really special that means a lot to my wife. so what i did is i went to a ceramic shop and got a cup because she likes her coffee in the morning. so i got this cup and did this beautiful paint job on this cup. i wrote this beautiful phrase on the back, i painted it. it was so beautiful. if i show this to you now, we have to go into business.
