arrest has been made in two brutal assaults in san francisco tenderloin. in each case the victim was an asian woman in her 70s. i spoke to a son of one of the victims and supervisor on what needs to change. starting with police communication. >> something like this to happen. it really shocked me. i'm still in denial. >> he's choosing to use his first name. after what happened to his 71 year-old mother when she was viciously attacked walking through the tenderloin the afternoon of september 22. he is all too aware of the crimes targeting asian americans especially during the coronavirus pandemic. >> seeing social media. i never like thought or i hoped it would never happen to my

family. >> another asian senior age 78 one week earlier attacked in the same area. blocks from the police station. they searched for answers including repeated calls to police. all fell on deaf ears. >> i was frustrated. i decided to put the post on social media. >> we showed district 6 supervisor the graphic images and alerted him to what happened. >> when something like this happens they should get immediate support from the police. get immediate support in response from the district attorney. and i think that didn't happen in this sforcem better counioit victims of s. and see to it the 34 year-old suspect arrested kp charged with felony assault and elder abuse remains in custody. meantime tom wants two things. for his mother who gave up her life in vietnam to give him and his brother everything in life. to heal. and for other asian americans not to be afraid to speak out.
