protective gear cleaning the white house press briefing room. officials insist access to the president will be significantly limited. >> we begin our coverage with the new video on social media overnight from the president and his campaign. overnight the trump campaign released this highly produced video showing the president returning to the white house in a made for television moment. ♪ after leaving walter reed medical center trump took a rarely used entrance into the white house climbing the stairs to the south portico porch. he paused. took off his mask and gave two thumbs up. the president later posted a video saying this about the virus. >> don't let it dominate you. don't be afraid of it. you're going to beat it. we have the best medical equipment. we have the best medicines. two days ago i felt great like better than i have in a long time. better than 20 years ago.

but dr. conley citing privacy laws would not answer other specific questions including whether his lungs are healthy. >> there are hippa rules and regulations that restrict me in sharing certain things. >> reporter: dr. conley refused to answer when the president last tested negative for the virus and now in one of the toughest comments yet from the president's response, texas senator john cornyn tells "the houston chronicle" adding i think he got over his skis and it's a lesson we need to exercise self-discipline. at a town hall event last night democratic rival joe biden said he's not surprised the president tested positive. >> glad he seems to be coming along pretty well. would communicate the right lesson to the american people masks. masks matter. >> reporter: at least 18 linked to trump have now tested positive. among the latest press secretary kaleigh mcenany and two of her , the white house says access to the president will be significantly limited.

the cdc is clear, everyone should be wearing a mask but in particular even when they weren't recommending masks for the general public if you think you're infected with covid or know you are infected, you need to wear a mask. >> the white house is not a normal home. it has around the clock care and medical providers that can care for him and able to monitor his vital signs and draw lab tests so it's quite possible if he weren't going back to the white house, that he may stay in the hospital. >> they're going to keep an eye on it and they're going to try to do that within the confines of the white house as opposed to in the hospital but, yes, you're not out of it until you've gone several days out and doing well but he certainly does look well. you don't need me to tell you that. you saw the way he came out of the helicopter into there. he looked like he was in pretty good shape. >> we have more coverage ahead including more details on the steroid the president is taking. >> the vice presidential debate is tomorrow night. vice president mike pence and senator kamala harris will be

"the new york times" reports the fda is now looking at other ways to implement the guidelines. about 300 schools in new york city are beginning to close today in neighborhoods where covid cases are spiking. nonessential businesses in those areas could be closed as early as tomorrow if city and state leaders reach an agreement. the investigation is beginning into a partial building collapse in houston. three people were killed in the to become the headquarters of newly built stairs. the founder of the anti-virus software mcafee was

reportedly trying to break up a night. an officer has been arrested. abc's andrew dymburt has the latest. this morning, a texas police officer is charged with murder in the shooting death of a black man. >> what do we want? [ crowd chanting ] >> reporter: the small town outside dallas monday night showing unity before the charges were announced demanding justice for jonathan price. >> no justice. [ crowd chanting ] >> what's his name? >> reporter: according to witnesses a man and woman got into a heated argument inside a gas station saturday. they say price tried to break up the fight. police showed up after the indianapolis depth had moved outside.at's when shots rang ou >> three gunshots ntffnd turned and looked at them and i said a cop just shot somebody. >> reporter: members of price's own family rushed to the scene including his father who said he spoke to the officer who pulled the trigger. >> what did he tell you? >> i shot your son. i shot him. i said, who shot jonathan?

he said, i did. my son was laying down. >> what did he say? >> he said, get back. >> reporter: the wolfe city police department released a short statement after the shooting only saying the officer involved was placed on leave. the statement did not name shooting had occurred or whether price had survived, but late monday night the texas rangers who took over the investigation announced murder charges against officer shaun lucas saying the officer tried to detain price who then resisted in a nonthreatening posture and began walking away before the shooting. price has been described as a hometown hero and a mentor who worked with kids. now a former baseball player for the texas rangers has started a fund-raising page to help with funeral expenses and has already raised more than $50,000. kenneth, mona. >> andrew, thank you for those details. a bizarre crime at a library in austin, texas. a former worker at the library is accused of stealing $1.3 million worth of printer

what a gift. i can't squander it. >> much more of that exclusive and powerful interview later on "good morning america." let's return now to president trump's medical condition. just hours after his return to the white house, many questions still remain. earlier i spoke with dr. shashank ravi from stanford. in his video tweeted from the white house last night the president urged people not to be afraid of covid. he said, quote, get out there, be careful. he also said, quote, maybe i'm immune. your thoughts on this video and also what he said. >> while there is some evidence that a person may be immune for a short period of time after contracting the virus, the evidence and the data has supported that this immunity does not last for a significant long period of time. statemts that president trump he has recovered strong from tw

able to hopefully recover while we know many other individuals either have more serious lasting consequences and then passed away. >> dr. ravi, what are the key factors to watch in the coming days regarding the president's health? his own doctors say he's not out of the woods just yet. can you talk more about the steroid the president is on. do any of the treatments raise question about the ability to do his job? >> the important factor over the next several days will be to watch how the president's breathing is and how his stamina is. many patients that my colleagues and i have seen have a stable course for the first several days after getting the virus and then around day five or seven can have a decline in thei important to have the president watch, which i'm sure he will be in the white house. regarding some of the treatments that he received, some of these medications such as the cocktail are still being studied so we don't know all the side effects yet. others such as the steroids we do know some of the side effects
