being attacked by a shark. mark was bitten while vacationing with his girlfriend in miami beach, florida. >> abc7 news reporter j.r. stone spoke with him earlier this evening. j.r., he says this isn't going to keep him out of the water forever. is that right? >> reporter: for now, yes. but not forever. i talked with mark on the phone just hours after he was released from the hospital. he tells me that this was either a black tip shark or baby bull shark. tonight he's in his hotel room resting after a scary 24 hours. >> i had no idea. i didn't feel anything. >> reporter: 31-year-old mark boden of santa rosa is referring to the moment he was bit by a shark when he went swimming in miami beach, florida. moments after that bite were recorded on cell phone video. >> it felt like something punched my leg, felt like a big chunk was taken. it didn't hurt at all. >> reporter: after the bout, his

girlfriend held his leg up after paramedics worked to stop the bleeding. in a phone conversation thursday, he tells us he was body surfing and decided to do so on the famous south beach while on vacation with his girlfriend. he says there were so many fish in the w one with nature before the attack. >> you know, [ inaudible ]. >> reporter: while he did have to have surgery and stay overnight at the hospital, he is now out and expected to make a full recovery. in fact, he hasn't ruled out eventually going back into the water. >> i think at some point i'll be going back in. plus i'm thinking, you know, what is the chance of getting -- having two shark attacks? that's got to be zero. >> reporter: glad he is okay tonight. he owns a tea company in santa rosa called tea and trumpettes. he says he might add a shark tea to the menu, obviously now smiling after this ordeal. as for coming back home, that

more than 210,000 americans have lost their lives. >> reporter: in a short memo thursday night, the white house physician dr. sean conley saying he fully anticipates president trump to return to public engagements by this saturday. dr. conley has repeatedly evaded specific questions about the president's condition before and falsely claimed over the weekend trump had not received suppleme supplemental oxygen after he had twice. the president medical experts say is still infectious and should be in the oval office and refusing to participate against joe biden. the trump campaign insisting the president can attend the originally scheduled debate in miami next week in person. biden now set to participate in an abc news town hall in philadelphia next week instead of that debate. in the race for the covid-19, the secretary of the health and human services said he expects every american who wants a vaccine will be able to get one by april of next year.

an east bay youth and community group focused on building a better bay area, tonight has become the victim of thieves. their truck used to help gather and distribute donations has been stolen. abc7 news reporter amanda del castillo explains how oakland residents are rallying to help the homies empowerment program. >> reporter: the race to recove east bay community or as homies

empowerment says it took a barrio. co-founder cesar cruz noticed the truck went missing wednesday night. >> robberies happen all the time. this small food truck feeds over 2,000 people e in distinct murals, the truck allows the group to deliver crates of food to a feeding store. they need extra help during the pandemic. on thursday morning a resident familiar with cruz's efforts spotted the truck near the 81st avenue library. they asked to remain anonymous. >> i saw the truck. i don't recognize it. that's a cool mural. wait a second. >> reporter: the neighbor arrived to find the truck stripped of its catalytic converter. aaa couldn't help because the truck was too large bough he was able to lean on snf towing. cruz did so much for her family in the past. >> anything he asks me is free, free charge. >> reporter: in total, crooks caused $1200 in damage. money cruz says haslrdy
