the forecast. >> the glass fire is 96% contained. 67,400 acres have burned and most evacuation orders have been lifted. massive fires are taking a toll on animals. firefighters are finding bears and mountain lions burned and orphaned on the fire lines. what a new northern california net work is doing to rescue and rehab injured wildlife. >> after weeks in an animal hospital, a healthy ending for the black bear burned in the north complex fire. >> you have to treat the whole animal. not just the burn. >> she is leading a new project called the wildlife disaster net work. 370 pound bear was the first patient. they created a program to help injured animals from search and rescue rehab and release.

defunding police marched tonight following the shooting death involving a san francisco police officer. >> the group peacefully took its message to the tenderloin police station. defund says it organized the rally to demand justice and show support for the victims of police violence. officer shot and killed a man late saturday after an attempted carjacking and chase. >> all this week we're focusing efforts to build a better bay area on the status of education. bay area schools say kindergarten enrollment is down. some opted not to enroll in distance learning. now educators are worried the kids won't be ready for first grade. >> bay area mom has her hands full. >> here's us getting ready for preschool in the morning.

superintendent. >> this year we have three kindergarten classrooms and a half of tk. enrollment was at least 25% reduced. almost 50% in transitional. >> enrollment is down 17% this year. compared to last. oakland unified enrollment is down 11%. compared to last. >> it's significant for us and the districts and counties. and throughout the country. where you have a large number of students who are not enrolled in school. we know it will leave an impact behind for them. and it will require us to think differently about how we'll catch the students up. >> it's district policy children enter school at grade level appropriate for their age. meaning children who is parents opted not to enroll this year will enter firs grade next year.

>> we're thinking about a summer boot camp. and do intensive skill development around letter sound. >> colors. shapes. all of those key skills children learn in a kindergarten including reading and writing. >> his daughter is in a different district says she's taking it one year at a time. >> if i feel she isn't ready for first grade. there's a possibility of having her do kindergarten next year. >> the more we pay attention to what's goin on. with covid-19. the better chance we have of ensuring kids will be successful down the road. if we don't address it it will fester. >> all this week the building a better bay area education team looks at virtual learning. and in person classes.

air quality over the next two days we don't have a spare the air day in effect tomorrow or wednesday. air quality staying where we are now. between good and moderate. temperatures out there currently at 63 in the city. down to 59 in 66 in hayward. 65 currently in concord. numbers will continue to tumble over the next several hours tonight. plenty of stars out there. settle in the mid-50s around the bay shoreline. cool spots in the north bay first thing tomorrow morning. tomorrow another bright day. it's a warm day. it's warmer compared to today by a few degrees. low 90s in the hot spots. 90 antioch. 80 in the city. tomorrow 83 oakland. 86. 89 in santa rose. napa 88 degrees. future tracker temperatures. we get the offshore wind developing later this week.
