because of the prevention of wildfires. anser hassan is live with more on this. >> good morning. the town of danville says the combination of dry conditions and high winds increases the threat of wildfires, so pg&e says they will cut off power starting tonight. town officials say the psps event will begin 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. this will affect residents along parts of diablo road in east danville. the power outage can't be avoided but the town wants residents to be prepared. that includes fueling up vehicles, charging mobile devices and have an emergency kit ready which includes batteries, flashlights, cash and a first-aid kit. also plan for your pets and pg&e advises to unplug all electronics. now, this power outage won't just impact danville but many cities around the bay area. in oakland people have been through this before. it's just more frustration for businesses already struggling because of covid-19.

22 senators on the senate judiciary committee have 20 minutes in this round of questioning. lawmakers grilled the supreme court nominee yesterday on a woman's right to have an abortion. >> is roe a super precedent? >> roe is not a super precedent because calls for its overruling have never progressed. it doesn't fall on the small handful of cases like marbury versus madison and brown versus the board that no one questions anymore. >> in the past barrett has listed a number of cases she believes cannot be challenged. "roe v. wade" was not on that list. the senate judiciary committee is expected to approve barrett tomorrow which sets her up for a full senate vote before the election. nor indomore indoor busines reopening in santa clara county today. it comes after state health officials recommend the county move from the red to the less restrictive orange tier. san francisco is the only other

francisco, the bay area and settle in the great basin. that will increase our offshore breezes and increase our temperatures, decrease humidity which increases our critical fire conditions. 89 in milpitas. 93 at san jose. 97 in gilroy. it's going to be hotter tomorrow and friday. 85 to 91 on the peninsula. 76 to 79 along the coast. mid 80s for downtown, south san francisco, sausalito, 92 today, san rafael will tie a record high. that goes back quite a few years. low to mid 90s through the north bay. heading into the east bay, we have 84 at berkeley to about 89 in castro valley. into the valleys we go and the heat, 94 to 97 degrees. tonight, the green, some of our deepest valleys will be in the 50s. most of us in the 60s. above 1,000 feet, 70s, that yellow and some 80s in the highest peaks in the north bay. that's when those critical fire conditions really peak. so record lows and record highs

here's what's going on as far as the red flag warning. you can see it takes effect eff the coast, the bay shore and the south bay. that's a change from what we're normally seeing. the valleys are in play. let me show you the temperatures, you can see the 80s and 90s spreading across the bay thursday, friday. all of us in the 90s except the coast. even saturday we're looking at plenty of 90s inland along the east bay shoreline. some 70s starting to show up as that cooling trend kicks in near the coast. the census count will end early on friday morning. this follows a supreme court ruling yesterday. the trump administration argued it had to stop counting in order to make a december 31st deadline set by law. the trump administration argued it had to stop counting in order to make a december 31st deadline that is set by law. ending the count early helps the

room. senator diane fane feinstein is questioning barrett. this is day two of the hearings. the questioning has begun. during a marathon 11-hour hearing yesterday judge barrett declined to say how she would rule on hot button issues like abortion, health care and gay rights. on abortion rights barrett called several cases super precedents, which cannot be challenged, though "roe v. wade" was not one of them. barrett was also asked if she would recuse herself from an election dispute case after the president said he's counting on her to look at the ballots. >> i would consider it -- i certainly hope that all members of the committee have more confidence in my integrity than to think i would allow myself to be used as a pawn to decide this election. >> barrett was also questioned by vice presidential candidate kamala harris about the affordable care act. she said she would consider the protections put in place. at times the hearing did get personal. when asked if she was bothered by the george floyd video she

earned income tax credit for the poorest families in the country. >> mitch mcconnell is promising the senate will vote on a narrow economic relief bill when they come back into session next week. that bill would provide money for unemployment benefits, schools and the small business paycheck protection program. president trump does not support that bill. now to the coronavirus pandemic. today alameda and santa clara counties join san francisco in the state's less restrictive orange tier moving on from the red tier. so both counties it expand indoor dining and expand outdoor gatherings. the new limits go into effect in santa clara county today. the race to find a coronavirus vaccine is taking a new step. drugmaker pfizer plans to start testing its experimental vaccine on kids. cincinnati children's hospital is leading this trial. officials there say parents expressed interest in enrolling

their sons and daughters. teens aged 16 and 17 will get the vaccine this week. kids between the ages of 12 and 15 will get it later. researchers are testing the vaccine on kids because they can spread the virus to more vulnerable people. new at 6:00, a los angeles fire department has unveiled a newest member of its force. it is a mini robotic firefighter. mayor eric garcetti tweeted this video saying this is the first robotic firefighting vehicle in the country. the robot provides high definition video of fire conditions, it's operated remotely so a firefighter can be in a safe location while the robot goes out there and does the work. this is cool. >> this is an incredible idea. we know the danger that the firefighters face on the front lines with those dicey conditions. being able to send in a robot instead, that's awesome. >> we like to see positive
