energized for the election, early voting turnout nationwide is shattering records. good evening and thank you so much for joining us. i'm dion lim. tomorrow is the last day you can register in california for the november election. if the early numbers are any indicator, voters are eager to have their say. the secretary of state's officer sent out this tweet on friday saying more than 2.7 million ballots have already been returned. that is well ahead of 2016. early voting continued today outside san francisco city hall and so far, the numbers are pretty good. >> we have about a 23% turnout in san francisco, which is really good for this point in time. this next week will tell us more on what the turnout will be. >> president trump was in southern california this

[ cheers ] >> the group east bay democratic socialists of america staged a protest pretending to be members of the country club. they accused the club of donating to a political action committee against the measure. prop 15 would raise taxes on commercial properties. supporters say it would help fund schools and social services and opponents say it's the largest tax increase in state history. the country club has yet to respond to our request for comment. abc7news.com is your one-stop resource for everything about every state ballot measure. we also have mail in ballot versus in person voting information and key dates and deadlines. no arrests have been made after a free speech rally turned violent in san francisco. a warning, some may find the following video disturbing. this video was taken as a protester punched the rally's organizer phillip anderson in the face. anderson had already been hit at least one other time prior to that video.

his mouth was bloody and he lost his two front teeth. he spoke to abc 7 news i-team done noise about the rally and intentions including a flier that had prominent right wing figures on it. >> sure as hell had nothing to do with the proud boys, not even one was there. joe bigs, they weren't there. the entire event was literally just about big tech. >> san francisco. >> reporter: six people were hurt and three officers. in developing news now, it's been an anxious 24 hours for a san francisco man who has been frantically searching for his two french bulldog puppies. the pups were stolen from the owner's home yesterday. but as abc 7 news reporter cornell bernard explains, there is good news on the dog napping front tonight. cornell? >> reporter: dion, one of the stolen puppies was just recovered a few hours ago. her owner is pretty thrilled

tried to be sold inside. doug just got are you united with his 10-week-old french bulldog puppy. he is a dog trainer and breeder says indigo and her sister lilia were stolen from his san francisco home friday. >> i discovered this window was open. >> reporter: the puppies missing from their pen. he says the apparent suspect left behind a shirt and drug pipe. >> we've been working with the police department and i put out 400 flyers last night. >> reporter: hours later, this man was spotted inside a 7-eleven store with two puppies on the counter matching the same description as lilia and indigo. the employee says the man wanted to sell them. >> he offer to me. i don't have any money but he

wanted i want to buy, i want to sell. i want to find $110 $500 each. >> reporter: he got a call from a woman who says she bought one of the pups from a man on the street from one of her daughters. she said it seemed too good to be true. indigo reunited with her owner. >> i put the word out and people started connecting. she bought this for her girls and knew it was not right. >> reporter: a short time later police detained this man on mission street about his possible connection to the stolen dogs. in the meantime, he is happy to have one of the pups back safe and sound. >> reporter: now under indigo'sr lilia is still missing. san francisco police are actively searching for the missing dog. live in san francisco, cornell bernard. >> those dogs are precious. we hope to have a happy news update soon. thanks. san mateo police are telling residents to use caution after another mountain lion sighting.

a home surveillance camera captured this mountain lion last night walking through a backyard on alameda. the cat was spotted at 10:20. it comes after two other sightings, one on friday at 10:00 at night and another on saturday morning at 6:45. police officers conducted a thorough search of the area but unable to locate the animal. one man is dead following the shooting this morning in vallejo. police found him at the blue rock village apartment complex at 4:00 a.m. you can see the heavy police response. no arrests have been made and the victim has been identified as a 28-year-old vallejo resident. covid-19 compliance team gets to work starting tomorrow in san mateo county. the supervisor said today the team will warn people who continually refuse to wear face masks and maintain social distancing. those who still don't compile may face fines of up to $3,000

uber and lyft are like every big guy i've ever brought down. prop 22 doesn't "help" their drivers-- it denies them benefits. 22 doesn't help women. it actually weakens sexual harassment laws, which are meant to protect them. uber and lyft aren't even required to investigate sexual harassment claims. i agree with the la times: no on 22. uber and lyft want all the power. so, show them the real power is you. vote no on prop 22.

cal tran spent this morning cleaning up an encampment in berkeley at the overpass the state brought in an excavator to clean it, the work forced the closure of the westbound i-80 onramp. no tents will be removed. this encampment has grown in size considerably in recent months. the walgreens in san francisco is set to close november 11th because shoplifting in the store. abc 7 phil reports that the store's shelves are empty or

even near empty. most of the remaining products are locked behind plastic theft guards. it's the seventh walgreens to close last year. you can read the columns in the chronicle on sundays and wednesdays. an effort is on to make part of san francisco's great highway permanently car free. the great highway park initiative has gotten 2,000 signatures online since june. the plan would transform the great highway from lincoln way into a park. the city temporarily closed part of the road to cars in april due to the pandemic. an orphaned mountain lion cub burned in a wildfire is impressing vets at the zoo. an update on the road to recovery for a cub called captain cal and the sign he's improving. you can see some of the low clouds and fog. i hope you enjoyed the beaches because next week is going to be next weekend is going to be much

happy to see captain cal up and about after surviving such a traumatic experience. well, it alive. a popular halloween decoration became frighteningly real thanks to creative tinkering. take a look. a man in florida turned a -- whoa, skeleton decoration into a huge wearable puppet. you can see steven walking around with that giant skeleton. it's attached to his feet there. he says he has been working on the project for a month with the help of a welder and with a desire to do crazy things. i can't even imagine what i would do if i saw that walking down the street. francis deglossen joining us weather. finally feeling like maybe halloween? >> i don't want to scare anyone if you missed the warm, sunny weather but we are seeing some cooler temperatures on the way with an increased sea breeze. here is a look at live doppler 7. you'll notice clouds off the coast. we finally got some fog in san

francisco and i missed it. i wanted to show you this live shot. golden gate bridge right now, that has really affected temperatures. in san francisco, it's only 64 degrees. oakland 73. mountain view 811 degrees in n jose and half moon bay 59 right now. this time we're looking for tam. we saw temperatures drop everywhere but it was a bigger drop along the coast and right now in fact, in some inland areas, you see we're hanging onto the 90s like fairfield is 90, concord 92. livermore 91. but talk about the temperatures tumbling especially in san francisco and at the beaches. so san francisco is 20 degrees cooler than we were yesterday at this time. 14 degrees cooler in half moon bay and cooler overall. inland communities didn't get as much cooling, three degrees

cooler but oakland and hayward, around the bay that's where the sea breeze had more of an influence and fog, as well. tomorrow with a stronger on shore flow we'll see the influence spread inland, as well. here is the forecast animation with the clouds and the winds. you'll notice we'll see clouds throughout the day and slide south, as well and then things will change once again tuesday and wednesday will ramp back up. much better sleeping weather, i think, anyway. this morning we had lows in the 60s but tonight they will be dropping more wide spread mid 50s and that's more comfortable. san francisco 56 as well san mateo and redwood city. in fact, mostly mid 50s around the bay and half man buy low 50s. that will be cooler for you as well as parts of the north bay valleys. tomorrow you'll notice we're closer to average. still above in many areas but we'll see 60s at the beaches with partly cloudy conditions. sunny most everywhere else but around the bay, we'll see 70s.

so just yesterday we saw 90s everywhere. san francisco 70, oakland 75. san jose 81. and antioch is and some of the warmest spots upper 80s. things change late monday and into the midweek as we have offshore flow returning and that brings a red flag or rather fire weather watch to parts of the north bay hills and this is from 11:00 tomorrow until early wednesday morning. so we could see gusts up to 40 miles per hour and this is dangerous because with those winds, the risk of fire spreading and starting are greater. here is the accuweather seven-day forecast. cooler all areas tomorrow and then things turn around midweek, more sunshine. we start warming up again. the warmth holds into wednesday and then for the end of the week, a cooling trend begins and will be much cooler and cloudier by next weekend as a system pasts to our north. so hopefully you got to enjoy the sunshine and hot weather

so, show them the real power is you. vote no on prop 22. but that's tough to do on a fixed income. i'd be hit with a tax penalty for moving to another county, so i'm voting 'yes' on prop 19. it limits property taxes and lets seniors transfer their home's current tax base to another home that's closer to family or medical care. being closer to family is important to me. how about you? voting 'yes' on prop 19. the unfair money bail system. he, accused of rape. while he, accused of stealing $5. the stanford rapist could afford bail; got out the same day. the senior citizen could not; forced to wait in jail nearly a year. voting yes on prop 25 ends this failed system, replacing it with one based on public safety. because the size of your wallet shouldn't determine
