for the november election. if the early numbers are any indicator, voters are eager to have their say. the secretary of state's office sent out this tweet on friday saying more than 2.7 million ballots have been returned. that is well ahead of 2016. early voting continued today outside san francisco city hall and so far the numbers are pretty good. >> we have about a 23% turnout in san francisco which is really good at this point in time. this next week will tell us more on what the turnout will be. >> president trump was in southern california this afternoon for a private fund-raiser. alex tells us the candidates are focusing on battleground states. >> president trump in nevada receiving a blessing in church services in las vegas. >> i go to many churches. i love going to churches. >> reporter: in michigan yesterday the state criticizing

the choice is as clear as it's ever been and the stakes have never been higher. >> reporter: long lines forming as early voters flock to voting locations. >> never seen lines like. this never seen as many young people. >> reporter: with just 16 days before election people, more than 26 million americans have cast their ballots. abc news, washington. >> california's proposition 15 targeted an east bay country club today. >> $12 million annual tax savings. >> reporter: the group east bay democratic socialists of america staged a protest pretending to be members of the orinda country club. they accused the club of donating to a political action committee against the measure. prop 15 would raise taxes on commercial properties. supporters say it would help fund schools and social services while opponents say it is the largest tax in state history.

just about big taxes. >> reporter: san francisco police say at least six people were hurt including three officers. in developing news now, it's been an anxious 24 hours for a san francisco man who has been frantically searching for his two french bulldog puppies. the pups were stolen from the owner's home yesterday. abc7 news reporter cornell bernard walked the the dog's owner. and i understand, you just heard about a major break in this case. what is it? >> reporter: timing is everything, right? we just learned that both puppies have been recovered safe and sound. one of the puppies was found about two hours ago. the other literally in the last ten minutes. and employees at the 7-eleven right behind me say a man came in yesterday and tried to sell two dogs matching the very same description. >> wow! this is a big city for such a little dog. >> reporter: doug just got

reunited with his 10 week old french bulldog puppy indigo recovered in the mission district. as he dog trainer and breeder said indloig and her sister lila were stolen from the san francisco home saturday. >> i discovered this window was open. >> reporter: the puppies missing from their pen. he said the apparent suspect left behind a shirt and a drug pipe. >> we've been working the police department and i put out about 400 fliers last night. >> reporter: hours later, this man was spotted inside a 7-eleven store on 18th street with two puppies on the counter, matching the same description as lila and indigo. he said the man wanted to sell them. >> he offered to me. i don't have any money. you want them? do you want it? i gonna sell. i want $500 each. >> reporter: then he got a call from a woman who said she bought one of the pums from a man on the street for her daughters.

the man didn't want to be identified but said it was too good to be true. indigo reunited with her owner. >> i thput the word out and started connecting. >> reporter: police detained had man on mission street about his possible connection to the stolen dogs. meantimize happy to have one of his pups back safe and sound. >> reporter: and lila has been found safe and sound as well. just got this picture texted to me. his reunion this week this sweet french bulldog lylea. he said he was contacted by awol in the mission district and was keeping it safe at her home. >> reporter: police have a lot of questions and they are investigating the case. live in san francisco. cornell better nafrltd abc7 news. >> we are all cheering for this story, cornell, in the studio. great work. happy to see both dogs are okay.

san mateo people to use caution after another mountain lion sighting. this cat was seen walking through a backyard. it all after two other sightings, one on freeway at 10:00 p.m., and another saturday morning at 6:45. police officers could not dauktd thorough search of the area but were unable to low date animal. one man is dead following a shooting morning vallejo. police found him at the blue rock apartment complex at about 4:00 a.m. you can see there the heavy police presence. no arrests have been made and the victim has been identified as 28-year-old vallejo resident. a covid-19 compliance team gets on work starting tomorrow at san mateo county. today they said the team will warn people who continually refuse to wear face masks and

now prop 22 denies us basic rights like unemployment benefits and sick time. uber and lyft are billion-dollar companies, and they still won't let drivers get access to unemployment benefits. that's just wrong. tell uber and lyft to stop exploiting their drivers. vote no on prop 22. caltrans spent this morning cleaning up a homeless camp in berkeley. the state actually brought in an excavator to clear it. the work forced the closure of the westbound i-80 on-ramp.

the city tells the berkeley site that no tents will be removed. it has grown in site considerably in recent months. the walgreens in san francisco is set to close because of rampant shoplifting in the store. it has been happening for months and the abc news contributor phil mattier says the store shelves are empty or near empty. most of the remaining products are locked behind plastic theft cards. it is the seventh store to close in the last year. you can read it in the chronicle on sundays and wednesdays. an effort is on the way to make san francisco's great highway permanently car-free. the great highway park initiative has gotten more than 2,000 signatures online since its launch in june. would it transform great highway from lincoln way into a park. the city temporarily closed part

i've ever brought down. prop 22 doesn't "help" their drivers-- it denies them benefits. 22 doesn't help women. it actually weakens sexual harassment laws, which are meant to protect them. uber and lyft aren't even required to investigate sexual harassment claims. i agree with the la times: no on 22. uber and lyft want all the power. so, show them the real power is you. vote no on prop 22.

he looks so comfy. vets say he is improving daily and is enjoying a new wood shavings pan. he was taken to the oakland zoo for treatment after a firefighter found him wandering around with his paws badly burned. the zoo says they are happy to see him out and about after surviving such an ordeal. and it's alive. a popular halloween decoration became frighteningly real. a man in florida turned a giant skeleton decoration into a tremendous wearable puppet. you see him walking around with this giant skeleton taxed to his feet. he says he's been working on it for a month with the help of a welder and his desire to do crazy things. with that, the weather doing some crazy things going from hot, a little cooler and feeling like fall. >> it will feel like fall. especially tomorrow as the cooling trend continues. that's due to the sea breeze and the marine layer.

some clouds off the coast, but check out this pretty shot from the east bay. looking out toward sunset which sets in about ten minutes. we have plenty of sunshine except at the beaches. and the temperatures were cooler. novato, 81, napa, 79.79. livermore, down to 88. and here is the fog that is moving in and causing the temperatures to be much cooler. as you can see, it is marshal oeflt we can still see the top of the towers. in san francisco, it is currently 64 degrees. it is right about 92 degrees. there is a huge range if inland areas in the 90s. we've got the clouds and 67 degrees. we'll see the temperature change, 24 hours ago. much cooler. 12 degrees cooler in san francisco. 13 in san carlos.

notice the inland areas, we didn't get double digit drop. we'll see the temperatures continue to drop as well for inland areas. and it will be not quite on the cooler side. we're still slightly above average but cooler than what we experienced the last few days. overnight lows will drop. you can leave the window open and hopefully you'll sleep better. down to san jose. 56. some low 50s through parts of the north bay with some clouds at the coast as well. so tomorrow, look for temperatures to come down even a little more. we'll see 60s at the beaches. only upper 80s. san jose, 81 degrees. much more comfortable weather, especially for the inland areas. temperatures will cool down but then they start to ramp up mid being. with that we have a fire weather

watch for the north bay mountains. the offshore flow will return late tomorrow night into wednesday morning. so there's a risk of wildfires starting and spreading pretty quickly. for example, we're dropping but still above average. then we ramp up mid-week and then really drop into next weekend. as the system moves to our north for next weekend. i hope you did get to enjoy the beaches. we start to warm up. plenty of sunshine tuesday and wednesday. it will feel more like fall. closer to average. in fact, it will be below average next weekend. we'll get you the highlights at
