catches. morgan, try to get the ball across the middle. speaking of tight ends. how much of that was a disoriented illinois defense that he faced in that opening game? >> kirk: we'll see in the next game. >> chris: is wisconsin perhaps underrated coming in? >> kirk: wisconsin is always underrated. paul chryst is the most underrated coach in college football. that's the way it is. they're a perennial top ten team every year. they lose great players, it's their system. they have a system, they recruit to their system and it works. and almost doesn't even matter who is on the roster, just plug in. wisconsin's going to be a tough team to play every year. >> chris: minnesota will have a friday game against maryland next week. that pass is knocked down at the line of scrimmage there by jeter, who scored the touchdown on the forced fumble earlier. he's had a fun night. gophers have three friday games. play consecutive friday games here against iowa and purdue after a road trip november 7th at illinois.

lansing today. >> kirk: you don't think a head coach matters? i don't care who you're playing. greg schiano changes a culture when you have results like that. this team didn't know how to win for years. but the story of the day has to be, i think, indiana. i think tom allen, getting that game into overtime against penn state, we all think that game had a chance to be competitive, but tom allen's come so close against some of the blue bloods in the big ten, just unable to close the door and today they're able to find a way in overtime against penn state. >> chris: yeah, i said double overtime earlier, felt like quadruple overtime. it was actually just one. the way -- it was such a bizarre end of the game. on a week in which we mentioned the memory of the minnesota legend, sid hartman, who passed away sunday at 100, got the statue here. there is also a statue of him outside the target center.

when you play corner in don brown's defense, a lot of times you're left on an island. and the big question, and it will continue to be questioned when they play teams that can throw the ball better, how will the corners hold up? you know, and that's -- they've had some great corners over the last four, five, six years and green is on one side, gray on the other. they're going to be challenged a lot more as they go down the line in this schedule. >> chris: defense that returned only two starters in the back seven, held up well tonight. that will make don brown feel good. potts on the edge. and don can crank up some ac/dc. he said he's a huge fan of ac/dc. people were accusing him of being kind of maybe a fan of the crooners, like a dean martin, he said, no -- >> kirk: like you. bin bing crosby? >> chris: i'm right with him on

being warned they could lose power. good evening, and thank you so much for joining us. i'm dion lim. right away, let's get to abc 7 news meteorologist fran frwith at the forecast. >> we have extreme fire weather headed our way. red flag warning starts tomorrow at 11:00 in the morning for the north bay mountains and east bay hills and spreads through the rest of the bay area throughout today. we're talking winds up to 70 miles per hour over the ridges. these are close to hurricane force level winds. so tomorrow you'll notice it's not too bad in the morning, but the winds ramp up tomorrow night overnight into monday morning. it will be gusting all around the bay area. expect windy conditions throughout the day, and then it starts to die down on tuesday. i'll let you know what else you can expect with the relative low humidity and some very cool morning temperatures heading our way as well. dion. >> we'll check in with you in a little bit, frances, thanks.

pg&e warns customers across northern california they may lose power tomorrow. they are ready to cut power to 386,000 customers if necessary. this map of northern california shows affected regions in yellow and community resources there in blue. pg&e says fire danger is at its highest level since last october. >> we take this last resort option decision of shutting down the power off in the interest of public safety incredibly seriously. >> outages are expected to begin at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow, and continue in waves if pg&e decides to cut power. restoration would begin monday night and finish tuesday morning. community resource centers would be open in every area where a shut off had occurred. >> north bay residents and business owners are scrambling to prepare for the potential. cornell barnard has a look at how they were getting ready. >> reporter: generators are firing up the action rents in

>> reporter: firefighters gearing up at the lark field station of the sonoma county fire district located in the vry same neighborhood, which burned in 2017. and not far from other major fires this year and last. this sign now warning all about the extreme fire threat. >> we are ready, you know, there's no denying that our firefighters, our staff is fatigued from this year. it's been a crazy year. but today our mission is to prepare. >> reporter: the captain says it's all hands on deck this weekend. crews ready to protect homeowners and property if needed. in santa rosa, cornell barnard, abc 7 news. to the east bay now where residents in the berkeley hills are preparing just in case they have to evacuate. abc 7 news reporter, luz pena explains it comes after city officials warned people to have a plan in place. >> reporter: that's right, and this is one of those highly concerning areas here in the berkeley hills. city officials are urging residents to preevacuate ahead

of sunday's strong wind event and here this is the only way in and the only way out. i spoke to the mayor of berkeley who says that day ready to respond in case of fire. >> we have fire engines on stand by. mutual aid, we have police patrols, we have a crew that's ready to deal request downed trees or downed power lines to make sure that our roads are accessible. >> reporter: also, over 700 berkeley residents may be impacted by a potential pg&e public safety power shutoff, starting as early as 4:00 p.m. sunday. a good reminder is to also keep your phones charged and sign up for the ac alert emergency notification system for berkeley and alameda county. in berkeley, luz pena, abc 7 news. >> don't forget, you can always use our free abc 7 news app to track the forecast and the latest in the psps events. we sent you in alert earlier for a live stream of a pg&e press conference. we'll send more breaking news alerts with any updates.

the app is free to download from the app store. a motorcyclist and a truck driver escaped unharmed after a fiery crash that triggered evacuations and is still keeping part of an east bay closed. flames rose from a gasoline tanker near westbound i-80 flt a motorcycle and the tanker collided just before eleven this morning. firefighters believe the crash sparked explosion there. officials evacuated a neighborhood near the freeway for a short time. eastbound lanes for people with heart failure taking entresto, it may lead to a world of possibilities. entresto helped people stay alive and out of the hospital.

ten days until the election, and 56 million people have already voted, including president trump. >> i voted for a guy named trump. >> ten days, we're going to win the state f north carolina. and we're going to win four more years in the white house. >> reporter: the president cast his ballot in person in west palm beach, florida, before heading to north carolina, ohio and wisconsin. meanwhile, vice president biden was joined by bon jovi in pennsylvania today to speak about building the economy for working families. he also encouraed people to make a plan to vote no matter what their cause. >> i'm running as a proud democrat, but i govern as an american president for everybody. that's the job of a president. the duty to care for everyone. >> vice presidential nominee kamala harris encouraged people in georgia to vote early after

several allegations of voter suppression. former president barack obama also held a drive-in car rally in miami to support his former vice president. and vice president mike pence campaigned in florida today. sources have told abc news that pence's chief of staff and another top aide have tested positive for the coronavirus. chief of staff mark short tested positive a week after political aide marty opst. an outside voadviser and not a government employee. a spokesperson for pence said he and his wife have both tested negative and plan to keep campaigning. stay with us. we're back after this. california's department of public health reports it has nearly 893,000 confirmed covid-19 cases in the state. nearly 6,000 new cases were reported yesterday. the number of new cases includes a backlog of test results out of los angeles county and that may be the case over the next few days.

more than 17,300 people have died. the u.s. set an unfortunate pandemic record yesterday, a daily high of more than 83,000 confirmed covid cases, beating the previous record set during the summer surge. and in many parts of the country, hospitals are getting inundated with patients. abc news reporter, has >> reporter: coronavirus cases and deaths are rising by double digits 39 states are reporting rising hospitalizations with 14 hitting record highs. this week, missouri reported its third straight day of a record number of covid hospitalizations, and highest seven-day average in over five months. medical officials are warning that a false surge is blanketing much of the united states. illinois's top doctor breaking down while announcing the case load. >> a total of 36433 confirmed cases since the start of this pandemic. excuse me, please.

>> reporter: ohio set record highs three days in a row. this cincinnati doctor trying to put the 25 weekly deaths in perspective. >> imagine if a bus, we had a fatal bus crash every week, would we act? yes, we would act. >> reporter: the university of dayton announced one of their students died from covid-19 on thursday, just 18 years old. new jersey's governor says today's covid-19 case count marks its highest daily figure since may. some doctors stating that pandemic fatigue has led to decreased mask wearing and social distancing, and subsequent growth in new cases. dr. anthony fauci on msnbc saying president trump hasn't attended a task force briefing in months and is choosing to listen to scott atlas who tweeted masks don't work. >> that has been a changing situation. >> reporter: and in the race for a vaccine, astrazeneca and johnson & johnson announced their late stage trials have resumed in the u.s.
