in virginia, a 40-mile trump caravan on i-95. >> they're literally escorting him out. >> reporter: the fbi is now investigating this incident in texas where a caravan of trump supporters surrounded a biden campaign bus. the campaign claims the vehicles tried to slow the bus down and run it off the road. president trump tweeted video with the words, quote, i love texas, and called the drivers who surrounded the bus patriots. >> you know, they were protecting his bus yesterday because they're nice. so they had hundreds of cars. >> reporter: joe biden on sunday in pennsylvania accusing the president of dividing the country. >> in two days we can put an end to a president that has failed to protect this nation. in two days we can put an end to a presidency that has fanned the flames of hate all across this nation. >> reporter: biden also delivered a blistering critique of the president's response to the pandemic and his foreign policy. >> he's putin's puppy.

that's who he is. donald trump's not strong. this makes me angry. donald trump is not strong. he's weak. he commands virtually no respect in the international stage. >> reporter: and now some star power joining the biden campaign. >> we're almost there. we need to talk. >> reporter: today lady gaga joins biden for an event in pittsburgh. ♪ one day when the glory comes >> reporter: and john legend set to make an appearance with kamala harris in philadelphia. and we'll take a look at the latest polls from the swing states coming up later this half hour. a federal judge is set to decide whether 127,000 ballots cast at drive-through voting centers in the houston area should be counted. today's hearing comes after the texas supreme court rejected a push by republicans to toss out the ballots. republicans in harris county say there's no law that allows people to vote from their cars. democrats are vowing to protect every vote.

we have to be real and put out there that it is bewildering that this is even happening, that these votes that have already been cast are -- that folks are trying to invalidate them. >> reporter: republicans also claim nine of the ten drive-through stations were in democratic areas. agents are searching postal facilities in south florida after dozens of ballots were found among piles of undelivered mail and sitting there for more than a week. the affected voters have been contacted. any additional undelivered ballots must be brought immediately to elections department. abc news election night coverage kicks off at 7:00 p.m. eastern and we'll be here all night with live coverage on air and on our streaming channel, abc newslive. turning now to the pandemic, new lockdowns are being imposed in europe triggering protests and riots. there are reports that

prince william tested positive for the virus in april. meanwhile, here at home we've set a new record for the number of cases, and public health experts are sounding the alarm about the holidays. abc's faith abubey joins us now with more. good morning, faith. >> reporter: good morning, kenneth and mona. just in time for the holidays, the cdc is giving cruises the green light to set sail at a limited capacity, and it comes as experts are warning with the current trend in cases, your thanksgiving and your christmas plans could be at risk. this morning officials in texas calling for additional help is mid a surge in deaths setting up a fourth mobile morgue as hospital icus hit 117% capacity. >> the resources have been strained to the breaking point. >> reporter: it comes as every state except for nebraska and delaware see a rise in cases. >> things are getting worse around the country. i think thanksgiving is really going to be an inflection point. i think december is probably going to be our toughest month. >> reporter: north and south dakota marking two straight months of the highest positive

cases per capita while new jersey has now reported more than 1,000 cases every day for 15 days. and in new york, a halloween party sparking outrage. more than 500 people packed into this warehouse. >> i'm hopeful that we won't have a repeat of the events that occurred after memorial day and july 4th in terms of surging cases, but we'll have to wait and see. unfortunately, there's no way to predict. >> reporter: overseas a new round of lockdowns. [ crowd chanting ] in spain a six-month state of emergency triggering riots across the country, crowds clashing with police throwing fireworks while boris johnson announced plans to shut down businesses in england starting november 5th. and the shutdown in england comes amid reports prince william was infected back in april while his father was also sick. abc news has not confirmed these reports but "the sun" newspaper in london reports that prince william struggled to breathe and that the royal family decided to keep his diagnosis secret in order to prevent panic. kenneth, mona.

he was 30 years old. >> so tragic. new details about actress lori loughlin's life behind bars as she begins her sentence after pleading guilty in the college admissions bribery scandal. abc's megan tevrizian reports loughlin will likely be out of prison before christmas. >> reporter: this morning lori loughlin's on lockdown in federal prison. >> she's in a one-room -- one room with no other roommates. >> reporter: the former "full house" star just days into a two-month sentence for her involvement in "varsity blues" scandal but her first two weeks behind barfs will be spent in quarantine, a new prison policy to help stop the spread of covid. >> they can possibly go out a little on the rec yard for a few minutes, but other than that, they're basically on lockdown. >> reporter: loughlin was allowed to report to prison three weeks early after cutting a deal with the u.s. attorney's office and agreeing not to seek early release for covid-related reasons. federal statistics show there are currently at least two positive cases among the 800 inmates in loughlin's low

security facility. loughlin is serving her time in the same northern california prison as felicity huffman did. both actresses charged in the college admissions scandal accused of bribing coaches and administrators to secure slots for their kids at elite colleges. >> you guys ready to fight? anything you'd like to say? >> reporter: the start of loughlin's sentence bringing an end to a year's long legal battle. after she finishes her two months behind bars, loughlin will likely begin her 100 hours of court mandated community service. loughlin's husband, mossimo giannulli, was sentenced at the same time and must serve five months in prison, pay $250,000 and perform 250 hours of community service. his sentence is scheduled to start next month. kenneth, mona. >> all right, megan, thank you. coming up, how low will they go? the news about gas prices. and also ahead, businesses boarding up. patrols being increased. the growing concern about unrest across america on election

almost four months. more than half of all gas stations in the u.s. right now are posting prices under $2 a gallon. turning back to the race for the white house, we have several new polls this morning, also new security concerns. earlier i spoke with alec thompson, national correspondent for politico. let's take a look at the state of the race this morning. this is an average of the new polls in the swing states. you can see former vice president joe biden holding an edge in most of these states with the bigger margins in the upper midwest, but so many of these states are a toss-up. are you seeing any trends developing here? anything new in the last few days we should be watching? >> yeah, the one thing you should watch the last few days is just if trump is closing stronger than joe biden. you know, donald trump is doing more events. he's going to more states. his campaign has been more active. joe biden's lead is about what it was eight months ago, and they're saying it doesn't matter if donald trump closes strong, they're still going to win this race. but still i'd keep an eye out just to see how are those crowds

in donald trump's rallies and how many events is he doing relative to joe biden. >> more than 93 million americans have already voted. we saw long lines again this weekend. who, if anyone, does this benefit the most? >> this benefits joe biden the most because joe biden has encouraged his voters to vote early. now, the problem -- the thing we don't know is are these 93 million people just voting early and they would have voted anyway on election day, or are these people that are new voters? so basically are these people about enthusiasm or more about covid? >> businesses in some cities are boarding up their windows preparing for social unrest after this election. patrols are even being increased here in new york. talk about the unprecedented security concerns before this election. >> it's no surprise that people are prepared for more broken windows, more things, you know, threatening small businesses and big businesses after election day. we're seeing it in washington, d.c.

we're seeing it in new york. i imagine we'll see it throughout big cities and probably medium size cities across america over the coming week regardless of the result. >> before you go, looking at control of the senate, which races are you watching the closest and why? what can we expect? >> well, so i would take a very close look at north carolina. there's been a little bit of a scandal there with a democrat who was considered sort of a shoo-in, was leading the republican there until there was basically text messages of conversations that strongly suggested several extramarital affairs. that's going to be a squeaker right down to the wire. i'd also watch closely for montana and georgia. the democrats are putting a lot of hope in both of those states. if democrats want to keep or take back the senate and make chuck schumer majority leader, those are the states you should be watching for on election day. >> our thanks to alex thompson from politico. and coming up, big news in the fast food industry. the popular menu item coming back.
